Taro continued to run from the sirens, so much so that before she knew it, she had returned to the beach. Huffing and puffing, she retreated to a slab of stone pushed upwards of the surf. Curled up beside it, she was on solid ground still. The sand didn't begin for another few yards, and Tarosy had to check herself from rushing into the water. The wound would surely burn in the salt water. Trying to relax, she pushed all pieces of her predicament from her mind and attempted dozing, letting the wind's playful melody lead her to sleep.

((Really suckish opening post.))

Aki kicked about the sand with her little paws, watching it burst into small dust clouds each time with mild amusement. She loved the beach and its cool sand, it was much better then that terrible desert she got stuck in for days on end. She gave a foxy laugh to herself at the thought. The fox hummed a gentle tune to herself absent-mindedly, perfectly relaxed. She heard sirens start up, disrupting her thoughts, but although irritated she didn’t pay any mind to it until some girl bolted onto the beach and curled up under a rock. She trotted up beside the rock and pocked her head into the girls makeshift shelter, eyes widening at the blood.
"...what'cha doing?"

It was just a nudge at first, but soon Taro was roused from her nap by a slightly fuzzy wet thing. Opening her eyes, she turned to see a fox. The gun was still clenched in her hand, but she quickly dropped it, raising a hand to pet the bright gold animal. She was adorable, so soft and welcoming, and so strange. She'd thought she'd heard a voice, but animals didn't talk. Her coat was exquisite, a miraculous color that Taro herself had never seen in nature. To an animal, it was perfectly safe to talk. Still petting the creature, rubbing behind her ear, Taro's words broke through, soft and quiet. "Hey there, little one."

Aki yipped happily and wagged her tail after being patted. She liked this girl, she was nice, but it seemed she thought she was only an animal. The golden fox resisted the urge to laugh, settling for a vulpine smile. The smell of blood was a little strong seeing how they were close to each other. She whimpered and poked her muzzle towards the girl’s bloody arm and gave it a tentative lick, asking what happened in her own way. Maybe she was really hurt, Aki had some supplies that might be able to help. She sighed, ‘I guess the fun’s over…’ she thought to herself before changing into her human form and shaking out her long curls, showing off a bright smile.
“Yo.”

The little fox was so sweet, playful and gentle. She licked the blood off of Taro's arm, and Taro smiled sadly, turning her head slightly and pulling her hair away to reveal to the fox a three inch gash running down the back of her head. The blood on her arms came from that wound; she had only one. Then, before her eyes, the fox shifted into a girl, one possibly very close to her own age. Taro flinched, pushing herself away, eyes wide and grasping for the gun that lay behind her. While animals were calming and easy to be with, other people tended to only be a threat. As far away from the girl as she could go, Taro watched her with wary, frightened eyes. She seemed so much like a young child now, so much like the one she'd killed.

“Uhm…Hiya! I’m sorry did I startle you?” Aki asked in a gentle voice.
“Geez, how did you manage to do that to your head?”
She gestured to the wound on the girl’s head, who’d jumped away from her. She frowned and reached into the small bag she kept with her, rummaging around for her medical supplies.
“I don’t know too much about healing, the most I could do is cauterize your wound… I don’t think we want that, but I can at least patch you up.”

At the mention of the word cauterize, Taro froze in place. "No fire. No fire." She whispered the phrase over and over, her eyes closing. The gun dropped from her hands, and she curled up into a ball, futile in her attempts to hide away. Fear was possessing her again, just as it had for Jetmir upon their initial encounter, but this time, Taro was too weak to do anything but cower. She couldn't face fire, not again, not so soon.

Aki watched the girl curl up in fear, chanting “No fire” over and over. The foxgirl moved the gun away in case the girl panicked, and slowly put a hand on her shoulder to try to calm her.
“Shh… okay, no fire I promise, I just want to fix up that wound,” she said in a hushed tone, then holding up her medical supplies.
“See, harmless, and no fire. Can you tell me what happened to you?”

Taro flinched at the touch, pulling away, but unable to get any further from the foxgirl. After a minute, she relented, turning so that her head was facing the stranger. The wound was frozen shut, but blood had dripped and plastered itself all over her blue-blond hair. She looked up towards the ocean, wishing the peaceful waters would just crash over her and take her away, back to the island, though she knew nothing remained of it. Taro just wanted some peace, some quiet, some rest.

Aki looked over the wound. “Who’s idea was it to freeze this over, you’ll damage you’ll get… frostbite or something.” She considered melting it, but after seeing the girl’s obvious fear of fire she decided against it. The fox sighed, this was difficult.
“You don’t say much do you?” she said while trying to think of a way to get the ice off without any fire… she could chip it away maybe. “I’m Aki, you go a name?”

Soundless, Taro melted the ice willfully, the chilled water coursing down her neck. The wound hurt now, exposed to the air and the elements. She didn't want to retain her name from this girl, after all, wasn't she willing to help her? With what seemed to be a tremendous effort, Taro opened her mouth and spoke."Tarosy." She murmured quietly, flinching from the impact a light breeze had on the gash.

“Ah, she speaks!” Aki laughed, proceeding to dress the wound on Taro’s head. It wasn’t anything incredibly lethal, but it was a nasty gash. She wondered where Taro had gotten it. She ripped off the end of the bandage and secured it, looking over her work. The girl looked kind of cute with it wrapped around her head in such an odd way, Aki giggled at the sight.
“There you’re all fixed up, now what exactly were you running from… I bet I can help.”

Feeling that she was done, Taro lifted her hand to prod the bandage. It was wrapped all over, and her hair was stuck out in random places, but it completely concealed her horns, which, could be a good thing. "I don't have any place to be, or go." This seemed like a better thing to say than to answer Aki, as she really didn't have a reason for running. She'd been escaping nothing. The last thing she wanted was to burden this girl, but she didn't have much of a choice. "If it isn't a trouble, can I come with you?"

((yeah, me too.))

Aki thought for a moment... okay so traveling with a pyrophobe wasn't exactly the best idea seeing as that was her main method of defense. But whatever, she could handle it. Sure, she was being careless, but she wasn't about to leave a hurt girl out here all alone with nowhere to go. And Aki wasn't really heading anywhere, just wandering as usual.
"Yeah, you can tag along, it'll be fun having some company!" she said with a trademark smile, "do you want to go anywhere in particular?"

"Anywhere but here. As far away as possible." Taro lifted her head and looked out towards the ocean. The vaguest outline of the island was visible, and she felt her heart wretch. She wanted to go home but there was no home to go home to. Not unless... unless she wanted to-. No. She would not allow herself to even consider the possibility. And yet, it seemed right. He'd looked after her, in his way. Though deathly, was he really all that bad? "I'll go anywhere."
