ooc: Not the best of rp's. This is my first rp for like... six months. Gimme a break? :3 I have nothing for a title. It's kinda bad. Suggest something, eh? Not part of the actual storyline. Just something to rp in whilst we wait for Rivalry Collisions to end.
There are many strange feelings in the world that humans and furry, anthropomorphic creatures alike can both feel. The particular feeling that burrowed deep in the pit of Miles ‘Tails’ Prower’s stomach was a strange one, indeed. It was like a he, and the rest of his fellow friends and citizens, had just escaped a silence – an awful, dreaded silence, nonetheless. It was as if the world had just broken free of its quiet little ways, and finally allowed the beings that lived in it to move, talk, laugh, cry, whisper, sing, and even walk for the first time. Why Tails may have been feeling like this remains quite mysterious. Only at the age of eight, he did not comprehend his emotions, but nonetheless, was mandated to cope with them.
It was late afternoon, and the sun began to steadily fall down beyond the horizon and into the oceans. The twin-tailed fox had taken a trip into Station Square a few hours ago to purchase a new pair of socks; he desperately needed them, for he lost one of his other match ups. Now he treaded lightly upon the crispy grass beneath him, advancing toward the stone steps only a few yards in front of him that would lead to his intricately designed workshop. With a pair of brand new, blinding white socks dangling in his left hand, he slowly climbed up his miniature staircase and onto his welcoming mat. After wiping his shoes off on the dirty rug, he pulled out a golden key, slid it into the hole, twisted, and the door creaked open.
Tails quietly stepped into his dwelling, darkness caving over him, and the front door closing behind him. His small hands flicked the switch on, and the hallway that he had just entered grew bright with lights – actually, there were five on the top of the wall near the ceiling, but they were all dim. Why would a fox need bright lights in a room that he hardly ever used, except to get to other rooms?
“I do love my home,” uttered the young kitsune as he moved into the living room. His old, yet comfortable sofa appeared green and extra cushiony, just how Tails liked it. He let the pair of socks slip out of his grasp and fall onto the couch. “I’ll get it later,” he thought. “After all, there’s nothing that I particularly have to do right now, right this instant. Those socks can wait until I need to put them on.”
He didn’t have one of those long days that keep one busy for every second of every minute of every hour of every day. He had one of those rather nice, calm, quiet days where one can observe nature, and realize the beauty that it possesses. Though, Tails didn’t actually take out a lawn chair into the deep jungle and just began observing… it was the little things in nature that he analyzed. The water that raged below the cliff his workshop was stationed on appeared to have extra waves and extra shine; the grass he walked on had a special crunch and a special coat of dew; the sky that lingered above him had a different atmosphere, and a different song sung by the satisfied birds; these were the things that were truly beautiful, and today, Tails had been able to realize that.
The petite fox crawled into his bedroom, slipped off his current pair of socks and shoes, and climbed atop his bed. Despite his laid back day, he was exhausted. Perhaps much discovery can make one tired? Or perhaps the lack of doing anything tiring in fact creates tiredness? How can anyone be too sure with such strange circumstances?
Tails wriggled up into his pillows, slipped under his comfortable, silky sheets, and began to wonder. It had been weeks since he had any contact with other creatures, or even humans, for that matter. For some reason, he’d lately been isolated. And Tails was one energetic fox that loved having company to talking to friends and strangers. Now, it was at that moment that he felt his desire to talk to somebody – anybody. There he was, all alone, in his big bed, in his big workshop, on his big property! To think nobody had dropped by to give him a simple ‘hello’ or ‘greetings’ was absurd. Friends were almost always stopping around to accompany Tails. Why not lately? Were some of his friends in trouble? Was he forgotten? Or was everybody just so recently busy and had schedules that couldn’t fit him in? Oh, the possibilities.
Tails had not even caught a glimpse of Sonic for a long while – Sonic, his best friend, the one that’s there with him for everything. Sonic is practically blood-related to him; normally, they’re inseparable! Knowing the adventurous hedgehog, he set off to do something very wild and would return whenever ‘the wind told him to.’ That’s what he liked to do; he liked to run with the wind.
The kitsune hadn’t jumped to any conclusions, but he still missed Sonic. At least a notification would have been nice, instead of just blasting away like that. “No,” Tails said to himself, “I mustn’t make any assumptions until I hear what’s been going on. Besides, it’s not just him; it’s the others, too. Nobody’s been able to come visit me! Maybe I’ll go visit them all tomorrow, and find out what’s been going on.” Of course, this wasn’t necessarily one of the biggest priorities in the world, or one of the biggest problems one may have, but it was important to Tails. It was important for this eight-year old to have contact with others. That’s something that’s healthy for him, and for all other creatures and humans. Communication is a necessity.
For now, he needn’t worry about it. He was just going to let himself drift off into sleep, maybe have a nice dream or two, wake up early, and set off to find the answers that he wants. Everything would be taken care of in the morning.

((Don't worry, mine is worse. :3))
As the sun began to lower in the sky, the silver train raged through the tracks, the loud trains whistle piercing the calm air as it slowed to a stop at the Mystic Ruins train station. As the smoke cleared, the doors opened, and passengers all stepped out the sound of rambunctious chattering filled the air, everyone seeming to pass smoothly through the crowds into or off the train.
Except...
"Well this isn't right.", Serena mumbled, her arms crossed as she exited the train, her eyes staring at the Mystic Ruins in initial shock. The site of the wide open spaces, the trees, the rocky landscapes....it was overwhelming in a sense. The sugar glider was more used to the smell of car exhaust, the crowds of people in the city, and the tall skyscraper shadows which would make you feel comfortable if not a little lost. Her footsteps were soft as she walked over the ledge, her eyes peering at the ladder with a frown.
Okay, let's try this.
Turning, she gripped the handles of the ladder, slowly placing one heel on the wrung and looking down in shock. It was really wonderful how they had this built; don't they know what it feels like to wear a skirt? Then again, it was probably built by a man who thought women only wore shorts, like what the hell, right?
Gently she climbed down the ladder, one foot after the other, hands gripping the wood in fear of falling before her one foot rested on solid ground, her toes curling in her boot as he relaxed and let the ladder go, both feet now firmly resting on the ground. "Now, to figure out where I am," She mumbled, her eyes halfway closed as her ear perked up, trying to catch any sounds.
Nothing, except the call of birds and an annoying train speaker voice saying 'All aboard to Station Square!' How would that help her?! It wasn't like she was asking a lot, she just wanted to go back to Station Square and find out where the freak she was right now! Stamping her foot and tightening her jacket around her small frame, she began to walk, her heels sinking into the dirt as she did so.
Wait....
Immediately her walk stopped as she realized what the train voice said, that would take her home! Pivoting on her heel, she began to race back, only to stop in her tracks as the train pulled away from the station, her eyes wide as he jaw dropped. A soft curse escaped her as she shoved her hands in her pockets, her eyes staring upwards at the dark sky as he leaned against the wooden ladder, a moan of anger escaping her.
Great, no food, no shelter, and no fricken’ clue as to where she was.
Sinking onto the ground and pulling her legs against her chest, she hung her head and sighed, her eyes suddenly catching site of a small house or some kind of structure upon the hill. Well, it was better then sitting outside, and Serena did not want to be out here all night. Slowly she stood up, her tail wrapping around herself as she began a brisk walk, her eyes halfway closed as she wondered if the place was abandoned.
It had to be.
Who the heck would want to live in ‘no-mans land’?
Her train of thought suddenly crashed as she stared at the dirt steps leading up to the top of the incline, a brow cocking upwards as she glanced around nervously. “Well, might as well, it’ll keep me occupied.” She coaxed herself, nodding her head and beginning to walk up the steps, her eyes staring ahead as she reached the top, panting as she did so.
Holy crap, first the ladder, then the run, then the walk, then this walk up stairs. She wasn’t a freaking energy machine; she had just gotten off work for craps sake. Yawning her eyes gazed at the place in awe, her hands rubbing her jacket covered arms as she walked slowly to the door, pressing her ear against it with a frown.
Nothing.
Not wanting to be caught with ‘trespassing’ charges, she tentatively turned and glanced around, before raising her fists and knocking on the door a few times. “Hello?” She called out, hoping a maniac wouldn’t come out with rifle and a bat, “Does anyone live here?” She yelled out, backing away from the door and wrapping her tail around her shoulders as she stood there.
What if no one was there? Or the door was locked? Or if a spider came out and ate her face?! Well, the last one could happen. Shaking the thoughts from her mind and growing tired, she leaned her back against the wall by the door, tail tightening around her as she breathed a deep sigh. “Just great Porter, you’re the only one who can get yourself in these messes” She mumbled dejectedly, slamming her fist against the wall of the house annoyed.

Tails had been in bed . . . he had been comfortable, and a bit nervous and frightful for the existence and whereabouts of his friends, but nonetheless, he was in his workshop, safely resting in his own little room. Nothing could happen to him here, and he was sure of it. Of course, this wasn't exactly true, but when in his element, like any other, Tails had the upper-hand and a great advantage in strenuous situations. This is to say, that when the snuggly kitsune heard knocking at his door, he was surprised, and taken aback by the repetitive and shaky knocking at that . . . because usually, he would recognize the knock pattern, yet this time it wasn’t a part of his memory in the slightest.
“Hello? Does anybody live here?” were the words that Tails could faintly make out as he stretched and leaped out of bed, silently slipped on his socks and shoes, and evasively maneuvered toward his front door. Who in the world was this visitor? Even if Tails absolutely adored guests, he’d like to be acquainted with them before he let them into his heart-filled domain.
Unsure of whether or not to answer the call, Tails finally decided upon doing so. “Hello!?” the orange-shaded fox replied, making a firm grip on the cold, steel handle in front of him. “This is the Prower residence,” he added, in quite a sophisticated voice. Taking a deep breath, he allowed his homely front door to come swirling open, and in the process, a long breeze entering his house. The wind ruffled his fur and bangs, causing him to shiver and imagine his cozy divan, awaiting his touch in his bedroom.
At first, Tails couldn’t make out the shape that stood before him, due to the awkwardness of the Mystic Ruins. Despite the late afternoon technical time, the sun appeared to have gone down, casting a nice shadow throughout the premises. The temperature strangely dropped as the darkness cascaded in, as well. As soon as his eyes managed to adjust to the lighting, the ‘sidekick’ noticed the outlining of the creature his eyes currently were transfixed upon. He could make out the feminine curves which determined the gender, obviously a female, unless it happened to be an incredibly frightening shemale, and in that case would have preferred to slam the door in its face. Luckily, Tails did not believe this was so, therefore continued to draw an image of his visitor in his mind in correct illumination.
It wasn’t working too well, and since he already stood there for minutes gazing at her, probability would say she wasn’t hostile. Perhaps she was just lost, or scared and wanted shelter from the Mystic Ruins’ mysterious atmosphere? Either way, Tails had much too big of a heart to turn her down, and spoke in his childish voice. “Would you like to come in? I can get you some hot cocoa – brrrr, it’s gotten really chilly outside!”
Tails hoped that she would accept the offer quicker than he had been able to ask her the question. He didn’t like to stay outside in this kind of weather . . . who knew what the clouds were going to pull next? It might start hailing outside, or drizzling, or pouring down rain, or even producing a bit of frosty snow. See, even though the atmosphere around his house always held unexpected mysteries and climate changes, never like this. For the most part, the ruins always contained the same conditions, or at least were all very common – this was that nice, calm mood. One could feel a difference, and feel the strangeness, but it was enjoyable . . . it made one appreciative. It was like stepping into a bubble, where almost all troubles fell away, even in one of the heftiest catastrophes imaginable . . . just stepping into a bubble and being surrounded by the perfect temperature, and a swell attitude.
At least that’s how it was for Tails, and from what others told him in conversations, most creatures, too. Eggman felt indifferently, and hopefully this new friend (as Tails assumes) would have to disagree with that villain.
He was straying far too off topic in his mind, however. Tails had no need to think about this now. He silently shook his head, and motioned for the guest to step into his home.

Just when she was absolutely sure the house was empty and a waste of time and thought, Serena blinked as the sound of footsteps echoed through her ears, her eyes closing as she listened. Automatically, she could tell the soft footsteps were of a young child, causing a guilty feeling to arise in her stomach. She never did like the thought of bothering someone while they slept. Her eyes closed halfway as she removed herself from the wall, straightening her skirt and brushing an elongated bang from her eyes.
“Hello!? This is the Prower residence.”
Serena couldn’t help but smile at how young the voice was and how the voice seemed so dignified for someone so young. Slowly she tilted her head, her long ear arching gently as she heard the sound of the door opening, her eyes automatically wide. What if it was really a monster in disguise of a kid going to take her soul?! Thinking quickly she grabbed the black purse hanging off her shoulder and held out a tube of lipstick, her face dead serious. If there was a monster, she’d beat him with pink sparkle lipstick, baby.
As the door opened, Serena held her lipstick out with a wide eyed expression as the other stared at her. Slowly she gazed around, waiting for an attack or the boy to say something before she lowered the lipstick, straightening herself automatically with a red face. So, judging from the outline of the kid, it was a fox…with two tails?
Now, she had seen everything, except pink elephants, but if there were monkey like creatures with no hair except atop their heads, wearing clothes here then she supposed a fox with two tails was probable. Slowly she straightened, her head tilting as she noticed the other was still staring, her long tail wagging gently and wrapping around her upper half to rid herself of the cold.
“Would you like to come in? I can get you some hot cocoa – brrrr, it’s gotten really chilly outside!”
Smiling at the child’s hospitality, her head tilted, eyes watching his step out of the way to let her come inside. Shaking her head and glancing at the empty train station, her ear perking to make sure no trains would be coming; Serena sighed softly and slowly entered the domain, relishing the warmth of the house.
“I hope I didn’t wake you,” She spoke softly, her tail still wrapped around herself, “It seems I accidentally got off at the wrong stop and no trains are heading to Station Square until tomorrow afternoon.” Serena sighed out, chuckling gently and gazing around once more at the house, idly she unwrapped her tail from around herself, the long appendage stretching out with a small crack as she stood there. It was then she groaned, realizing she had no manners at all.
“I am so sorry,” She spoke, quickly turning to him and laughing, “Where are my manners? My name is Serena; it’s nice to meet you.” She spoke, smiling gently at him and laughing, “I’m such a ditz, it must be that coffee I had at work today.” She mumbled, gazing at the ceiling and trying to figure out how someone so young could be so adult sounding.
