I'm uncertain if we'll do custom scenarios yet (can you say Chaos Turkey?) but the next Warhammer Fantasy tournament has a date, at least. Here are the details:

November 21st, 2,250 points, 3 rounds, 2.5 hours per round, starting at 12:00 noon. There will be a 1-hour break somewhere in there... pretty-much up to everyone who attends whether it's between the first and second or second and thir rounds. Entry fee will be $10 (due at the door, no need to pay ahead of time), and prizes will be based on participation.

Whether we use custom scenarios or not, scoring will work as follows:

0 points for a loss
5 points (for each player) for a draw
10 points for a marginal victory
12 points for a solid victory
15 points for a massacre

Tie-breakers will be first based on direct competition (so if you won against anyone you're tied with, you are ranked ahead of them), then based on how your opponents did (and so how challenging your particular line-up was).

Lists will be required to be submitted ahead of time! You must send your army list to me by 9AM on Friday, November 20th. Please either PM your list to me (Zetan) on the forums or email it to shane@scifigenre.com and not to any other email address. The only acceptable formats are plain text (copied into the PM/email or as a .txt file) or a .doc, .xls, or .pdf file. Do not send me a .xlsx file, a .ppt file, or any other kind of file.

List submission is required in order to allow me time to look over everyone's lists and make sure they're legal. This is your pre-registration, in a manner of speaking, though entry fee will not be due until the day of the tournament. It is okay to submit a list then not show up, but it is not okay to show up without having submitted a list by the deadline, so if you're not sure whether you'll make it, submit your list just in case.

This will be a closed-list tournament. You must give all the details of models on the table (what they are and what they're equipped with, what sort of command they have, etc) and are required to share the unit's stats. You do not, however, have to tell your opponent about any models or other details not on the table. This includes fanatics, assassins, magic items, and anything else I haven't thought of. If a unit's stats or rules are changed by a magic item and your opponent asks about them, tell them what the stats/rules would be without the item. Spells must still be rolled publicly, since there's no practical way to do it otherwise. If you have any question about when you have to tell your opponent about something (start of the game, when it's first used, etc) please ask me before the tournament.

Items that produce ongoing effects (such as Frenzy, Stubborn, and stat increases) need not be revealed until those effects take place (such as being close enough to need to measure for a forced charge, taking a break test, and attacking). There was some debate about this last tournament, particularly with frenzy, so to clear that up, the way we're playing it now is to have an item causing Frenzy revealed as soon as there's any question in your mind about whether they're in charge range. Reveal it right before you measure this.

As always, unpainted (and even some proxied) models are acceptable. We encourage painting, but do not require it. I am still debating about whether there will be a separate prize based on the appearance of your army, but I am going to keep it out of the main prizes. It is important to note that, especially in the case of anything that's not 100% WYSIWYG, you must tell your opponent what a unit is when you deploy it, including non-magical equipment.

At any point during the tournament, if you have a question about an opponent's list, you should bring that question to the TO (me). Please be polite about it, and be polite when your opponent does it. It is not to be treated as rude when an opponent asks the TO if you really have a magic item you just revealed or anything of that nature. They're not saying you're cheating, and acting defensive like they just accused you of it only makes you look guilty. Likewise, you should not feel bad to ask the TO about an opponent's list; they could be making an innocent mistake that simply needs correcting. Make questions brief and simple and there won't be any significant delay to the game. Example:
"I use a dispell scroll."
"That's your fourth one, right?"
"Yup."
"Mind if I check with the TO about that real quick?"
"Of course not, go right ahead."
"Shane, does he have at least four dispell scrolls on his list?"
"Let me see... yup, he does."
"Cool.. thanks! Okay, so my spell is dispelled..."
Simple, right? I know there's potential for a lot of awkwardness and/or drama with anything like this, but if we all just be polite and civil about it, it should go well.

Please post any questions, comments or suggestions here. Remember to submit your lists before the deadline. Thank you!

Looking forward to it Shane. I appreciate the thoroughness of the rules as you laid them out. Quite clear!

My roommate says there should be some scenario involving some native archers in the middle of the table and your goal is to deliver smallpox infested blankets to them, in the true spirit of thanksgiving.

I've thought up the scenarios, and I can now confirm 100% that there will, indeed, be a Chaos Turkey. In fact, I'm even planning to give away the True Form of the Chaos Turkey away as part of the 1st place trophy!

Holy Smokes! Just realized that the wedding I have to go to is next weekend, not the 21st. This means I can take a shot at the Chaos Turkey! See you suckers there!

Hey guys,

Just 24 hours to get your lists in, and so far I only have Nate's. Granted, he keeps changing his and has sent me three versions of it, but that's another issue. wink.gif

Anyway, I know a lot of you are planning to come... if you're even thinking about maybe coming, send a list! Remember, sending a list and not coming is fine, but you can't come without sending a list.
