Title: Battletech

Ben Meadows - January 21, 2010 07:36 PM (GMT)
Hey all,
I am new to the store and wanted to see if anyone wanted to get a Battletech league going. I can host the league but would welcome anyone else to host/help. Anyone interested? At the very least, I would like to play some Battletech games on a regular basis.

PerpetualGM - January 23, 2010 01:30 AM (GMT)
I would be very happy to play in and/or help with a Battletech league. I've run a few games and demos at the store, but time constraints have kept me from doing much else. My roommate and several of my friends are also long-time CBT players and I may be able to get them interested in playing.

Sweet! I found a lot of my old sheets and I have several metal Mech models. I have the new rulebook too.. the only thing I am missing is hex sheets but those are cheap enough or we could just do the straight 1" conversion. I am also willing to buy the battlemech creation software should you be able to get your roommate and friends interested.

I played in a league a while back and it was a blast and I still have a copy of the house rules from that time. We can go over them and decide if they would work for our league. Let me know a date in the next few weeks (preferably weekends) that we can meet and layout what we all have and plan the league.

PerpetualGM - January 31, 2010 06:26 PM (GMT)
I should have plenty of everything needed to play (I don't have any league rules) and don't mind bringing it. When would be a good day/time to meet at SFG for you? I have table-top RPG games on Friday and Sunday nights, but most other evenings are free.

Well, the weekends are usually best for me. Saturday would normally be fine but I won't be in North Carolina this comming weekend. So, we can either shoot for next Saturday or I can meet during the week (just this week though). Tuesday and Wednesday nights would work best. Let me know. Look forward to meeting you.

//BTW... what kinds of table top RPGs are you currently running? (just curious)

I'm currently running a Star Trek RPG and playing in a 4E D&D game. What times are you up to meet this week? Next Saturday, I'm supposed to have dinner and play Rock Band with some friends. I usually don't get off of work until about 1500 or so and usually work Tuesday through Saturday.

Shall we plan for 6 PM on Wednesday then?

St.Vice - February 25, 2010 01:31 AM (GMT)

You can find the rule book here:

http://www.scifigenre.com/itemDetail.aspx?...M1S21OI001TMT0W

although I would recommend starting with the Introductory Box Set , since it comes with two-dozen plastic 'Mechs, mapsheets and the rules needed to play. The box set costs about $35 or so with tax from SFG.

http://www.scifigenre.com/itemDetail.aspx?...M1S21OI001TMT0W

'Mechs are available here:

http://www.scifigenre.com/browse.aspx?sid=...ExpandToID=1162

While Catalyst Game Labs offers a .pdf version of the main rule book, I find that for books like that I prefer to have a hardcopy, since I don't have a laptop.

As far as learning to play, we are intending to meet on Saturday evening around 4 PM or so to play and eventually maybe drum up enough support for a league or campaign of some sort. If you'd like to learn, I would be more than happy to teach. You don't need to bring anything unless you'd like, unless you have a lucky pair of d6 dice. :D

Ben Meadows - February 25, 2010 06:58 PM (GMT)
Kyle (PerpetualGM) is a great teacher. He has quickly brought me back up to speed on this exciting game. I am also available to help you with any questions you have about the game.

As he stated, we are trying to meet every Saturday to play and drum up interest. So far, we have had lots of interest from people who saw us playing so I think this game is going to be coming back to SFG in a big way very soon. You should come out for a Saturday and play with us. I think you will enjoy it.

St.Vice - February 26, 2010 08:03 PM (GMT)
Sweet i'll see you guys soon. I'm going to need to barrow some mechs though. (lol i can just dream what a mech commanders face would look like if some one had told them that.)

religon - March 17, 2010 04:59 PM (GMT)
Is this still happening? I have attended a couple of BT games at the store, but infrequently review the forum and missed these.

Cheers,
Robert

PerpetualGM - March 17, 2010 06:32 PM (GMT)
We have been meeting on Saturdays at around 4 PM or so for the past couple of weeks. We missed this past weekend due to the reduced store hours, but we are still on for this Saturday as far as I know.

It is Worldwide D&D Game Day according to the SFG calendar. CBT doesn't take very much space, so I imagine that we will still be able to find a spot to play.

Ben Meadows - March 18, 2010 04:45 AM (GMT)
Yeah, we should be able to play this Saturday... no one plays D&D in stores any more ;)

See you guys there!

St.Vice - March 18, 2010 07:58 PM (GMT)
i'll try to be there, yet i can't promise any thing.

religon - March 25, 2010 02:56 PM (GMT)
Good game on March 20th.

Very well played with some nice looking units on the field.

10 minutes after the battle, the MechTechs had to service all the jumpjets used by the aggressors. They had some choice words regarding the abuse to the shocks, struts, and rocket ignition systems. :)

Cheers,
Robert

Is there a game April 3rd?

PerpetualGM - April 2, 2010 08:03 PM (GMT)
I am planning on being there around 4 PM. Ben and I were planning on doing an "advanced tech" battle, so he could play his Mad Cat Mk. II.

St.Vice - April 3, 2010 02:27 AM (GMT)
I wish him look it seems that thing is gonna be even more of a fire magnet then his Hunch Back is.

St.Vice - April 3, 2010 02:58 PM (GMT)
Hey Hey good news. My Brother is at home and we were wondering you guys mind showing how to run Advance rules for two more noobs?

PerpetualGM - April 3, 2010 06:32 PM (GMT)
I have no problem with it at all. :D

PerpetualGM - April 5, 2010 07:13 PM (GMT)
Since we were talking about the boxed set the other day...

http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/17198.html

It will apparently be out in the summer. The price has gone up to about $50, but you get two more plastic minis and punch-out terrain pieces.

St.Vice - April 6, 2010 03:44 AM (GMT)
ok thank very much. May i ask if you know any thing about the clan starter kits? The basic plan was to start at 3025 and go up to 3050. When looking more at the web site it also says that the Clan kit is not out and is preorder.

PerpetualGM - April 6, 2010 03:53 AM (GMT)
I haven't heard anything about the Clan Starter Kit, unfortunately.

Ben Meadows - April 9, 2010 02:10 PM (GMT)
Okay, I have a dilemma. So, the big 40k tournament is this Saturday and we were planning on starting our Battletech campaign that day. I can't do both. Even though I really would like to. The 40k tournament will go from 11:00 to 7:00.

So, my question is, who is planning on coming to Battletech on Saturday? If there are enough people (without me) I will probably participate in the Warhammer tournament (because they need another player).

Let me know guys. Thanks :)

PerpetualGM - April 9, 2010 06:11 PM (GMT)
If they need you to participate in the WH40K tournament to get the number of players up, that is fine with me. If anyone else is interested in CBT, then feel free to e-mail me or post here. I may still show up at 4 PM anyway, depending on if I can get my roommate to play.

St.Vice - April 9, 2010 07:04 PM (GMT)
Like Ben. I'm going to 40k so sorry i won't be able to do any thing with Battle tech. NEXT weekend however there will be blown up mechs... and NOT mine with no heads.

religon - April 15, 2010 05:27 PM (GMT)
Is there a CBT game this Saturday (17th) at 4:00?
Like most Saturday, I will be unable to attend, but if it rains, plans could change.

religon --at-- hotmail

St.Vice - April 15, 2010 08:33 PM (GMT)
Ya some thing came up. I won't be able to go.

PerpetualGM - April 16, 2010 12:50 AM (GMT)
I was planning on showing up and seeing who was interested. At the last game there was a request for some sort of campaign structure, so I made up a flow chart and a few scenarios that we could play through. Success or failure on a scenario affects which scenario you play next and may have other effects as well.

To make things quick, I've kept the force sizes fairly small and we probably won't get more than two lances per side. As per the request, the campaign is set in the post-Clan invasion era, so advanced tech will be present.

I'm figuring that we should be able to go 3 or 4 weeks with what I've got and then we can decide what to do from there.

-Kyle

Ben Meadows - April 17, 2010 03:14 AM (GMT)
Cool :) I will be there.

St.Vice - April 28, 2010 03:06 AM (GMT)
So are we meeting this weekend?

Ben Meadows - April 28, 2010 06:44 PM (GMT)
Far as I know yes.

PerpetualGM - April 28, 2010 10:17 PM (GMT)
I was planning on it.

As far as the results from last session...

The Javelin is fully repaired and re-loaded.
The Battle Hawk is repaired and re-loaded, although lingering gyro damage means it will have a +1 penalty to all piloting rolls

For salvage...

The Ninja-to is unrecoverable and is scrapped for spare parts.
The Avatar is fully repaired and re-loaded.
The Shugenja is repaired and re-loaded, although the C3 Master Computer was too heavily damaged to be repaired and the 'Mech generates +3 heat per turn due to improperly repaired engine shielding.
The Daikyu is fully repaired and re-loaded.

Since the Raid mission was chosen as the next scenario, the objective will be to raid a Combine supply depot and either seize or destroy supplies. The supply depot is defended by:

DRG-1G Grand Dragon
PNT-12A Panther
HBK-4G Hunchback
PNT-9R Panther

The only units available for you to use are the Nightsky, Wolfhound, Javelin and Battle Hawk. Since you won the last engagement, you have the option of making this a night engagement, applying a TN penalty to all weapon to hit rolls. This does not apply to melee attacks.

religon - April 30, 2010 03:04 PM (GMT)
So the game Saturday is an Advanced Tech (3050-era) campaign game?

Just trying to catch up...

Robert

religon ---at--- hotmail

PerpetualGM - April 30, 2010 06:43 PM (GMT)
Yes. It is the second week of a linked-scenario campaign. If you'd like to play, feel free to drop by and either jump in or we can play another game afterwards.

St.Vice - April 30, 2010 11:11 PM (GMT)
I'm gonna be stuck in town till about 5:30, So i should be up there some time a 6.

religon - May 5, 2010 02:21 AM (GMT)

If a game is planned on the 8th, some of those gentlemen might attend if advertised here.
