It's been several years since I last played warhammer fantasy battle.
Are the border patrols still around?
If so I'd love to play a couple games when I'm back in town (around thanksgiving) to get back into the flow of the game and re-learn the rules.

It looks like White Dwarf 285 had rules for Border Patrol that
look like they work with the current version. It isn't on GW's site anymore, but google still has at least part of it (including all the important parts, I think):

that sounds nefty for a small game... good for beginners or a quick out-of-the-norm mach.
It was my preferred playing method for a long period of time. There are a lot of nifty combinations that are tons of fun.
I'm surprised that no one at the store had heard of it. This was the preferred method that I had seen fo many years.
Give it a try, you may end up liking it more than larger scale games.
Border Patrol and watching larger games is how I learned to play. It can be a lot of fun, although some armies are more powerful than others at the lower point levels.
