I am re-releasing my PlayStation button mods due to the fact that the links in the old (locked thread) have been deleted.

For all 3 of my PlayStation button mods I ripped the buttons directly from the PS3 version of RE5 Gold.

RE5 PS1 Button Mod - version 3.0

I made this mod because I never got used to playing Resident Evil after switching from PS1 RE games to the newer console RE4 and RE5 games on PS2 and PS3.

The buttons where relocated starting with the 4th one on consoles but on PC I have been able to overcome this hurdle by modding the buttons back to the PS1 style I still crave

So it made me determined to mod the games for my own purposes but cause I like to share and I couldn't have done this without the site I have decided to release it here officially.

This mod allows you to have a PS1 style RE config making it easier to switch between older and newer RE games without button function confusion for the user

Quick time events will need to be learned all over again as they will jump out as diff buttons to what you are used to in RE5 til now.
Circle is replaced by Triangle as a Quick time button as are the shoulder buttons to L1 and R1 :D

MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP THE OLD FILES IF YOU WANNA GO BACK TO THE XBOX360 BUTTONS THAT THIS GAME USES BY DEFAULT

To use this mod you will need to set your controls as follows and follow the "read me" in the mod file for where to save the files

Original games XBOX360 buttons > My PS1 button mod

X = Cross = Action/Shoot while aiming (Same as all PS1 RE games)
Y = Circle = Inventory (Same as most PS1 RE games)
A = Square = Run (Same as ALL PS1 games)
B = Triangle = Partner action - Quick Event (Was never really used much in PS1 games)
RT = R1 = AIM (Same as ALL PS1 games)
LT = L1 = AIM with knife (The obvious place to put it)
RB = R2 = Map
LB = L2 = Locate partner

I made this version cause it seems to be the most requested button layout other then the original one from you guys here on the site.

This version has been made using the same button style that the regular PS1 button swap now uses

Nice work! I like this 'cos I use my PS3 controller but I stopped using it on PC because R1/L1 are changed to R2/L2 don't know why. Does anybody else have this problem too?

I think you have to change it from the original launcher of RE5. :P

If you can't change it there you can do this to fix it...



This SHOULD fix your shoulder button issues.

@DarkSamus: thanks i owe u one. after finally beating res 4 (i kno i'm late after the rest of the world; i had gotten to the krauser level in '09 and lost my computer with the install on it) i wanted to give res 5 a whirl but dont like the xbox 360 controls. long story short, i wanted to use my ps3 controller and this is what i needed. :)

nope that didn't work for me. what do I change in the gamepad settings from the launcher? There are so many numbers that it confuses me. I really need to invert my R1, R2 and L1, L2.

Your using x360 controller emu? Just change the settings for the shoulder buttons in the program.

Hi, I have a request if you have some free time.

You already know that the L1R1 L2R2 switch occurs because of the 360 controller emulator. The back and front triggers have swapped functions between the 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

Do you think you could make an extra "PS3 Button Mod" version where all the L1R1 and L2R2 icons are switched to correspond with the 360 controls? I would like to have the PS button icons replace the existing 360 button icons, but I started playing on PC with a dual shock and the 360 emu, so I'm already used to the 360 controls.

(I tried just switching the settings in the 360 controller emu like you suggested but I wasn't used to the actual PS3 controls and got destroyed.)

Thanks for the mod and sorry if this request seems kind of dumb.

Edit: I noticed that in 3-1 the boat controls are analog (you can control how fast the boat goes and also how far Chris stoops over since he bends his back to show how fast he's going) which doesn't work well with your mod if R1 and R2 are switched in the 360 emu settings. I guess this is because both shooting and boat controls are hard-coded to the 360 controller's triggers in the PC version.

I'm no longer willing to make further versions of this mod mate.

As it is now the controls match PS3 100% perfectly and that's how I plan to keep it.

As an added note, I bought RE5 Gold (and RE4) for PS3 recently and have now gotten used to the default controls so I don't even use the PS1 version I made anymore and have switched to the PS3 layout instead.

Whilst I agree with you, I don't have the power to sticky this thread.

I know it may seem biased being my own mod and all.

But I am pinning this because I feel that this mod is essential for people that play using a PS controller.
