Title: Off to Skyrim! (Modding)
Wizard - November 19, 2011 02:33 AM (GMT)
Well..I've been here for a long time and frankly I'm pretty damn bored of modding Re4/Re5..ever since I started playing Skyrim I've had no desire to touch those games. They've had there time with me but it's time to move on - ONTO SKYRIM! (Epic music) Hell..even world of warcraft doesn't even appeal to me and I've been playing that game for years..
As I posted a little bit ago in the skyrim thread on here about how much I love the game, the game is also extremely moddable (Meant To Be) and they will be releasing the full modding tools for the game very soon.
I'll still peep my head in here from time to time but don't expect any mods from me in Re4/re5, I may consider modding Operation Raccoon city on the PC when ever it comes out, depending on what's going on by then.. assuming Skyrim hasn't completely stolen my life
So is anyone else here going to be a Skyrim modder? :D
I've been seeking a new game to mod for several months now and I've finally found a game I have enough passion about for me to have a huge drive to mod it..this hasn't happened in a long time lol
Musouka_Kitty - November 19, 2011 03:30 AM (GMT)
Well this explains where you've been when I've been busy lololol...
Can't say that I'm not going to miss gaming with you for a long while but honestly I am going to be really busy in this program I'm in so...
Regardless have fun!
Tromp200 - November 19, 2011 03:30 AM (GMT)
If they make a Modding tool like Fallout GECK, then I'm in :>
ToCool74 - November 19, 2011 05:39 AM (GMT)
I understand where your coming from dude.
Modding RE4 has become pretty old for me as well. I still have a couple WIP unfinished actually lol.
I'm just not interested in modding it anymore.
I may however get back into it in the future, only time will tell at this point.
Now depending on what kinds of modding can be done RE Operation racoon city, I may have to consider possibly modding it in the future. Maybe then some new life can be breath into this forum upon the game's release.
Anyway, good luck dude. ;)

I really love Skyrim so maybe when the tools comes out i will probably be "model"modding it.From now I'm just working on several high res re-textures for some armors and for the werewolves(more believable fur/skin).
Fenix - November 20, 2011 07:14 PM (GMT)
Just tell us, "where" are you going? the VGU network, the nexus, both? I would gladly follow you there :P. And you too Satyr :)

Nexus :)
My Username on there is TheWizard200
At this point I await the official modding tools so I can make my own dungeons, however I have released 2 mods already though.

Wizard - November 21, 2011 04:22 AM (GMT)
My Orc warrior doesn't look nearly that cool xD
Satyr - November 21, 2011 05:12 AM (GMT)
I retextured mine :P .I was planing to make a full retexture but it would have taken too much time.So today i changed the fur and hood textures into chainmail (reworked the normals too to fit) ,sharpened and darkened the textures and added the dragon branding on the chest plates.
That dragon Priest mask was hard to get lol,i was level 20 when i got it.I had to use guerrilla tactics against morokei because attacking him head on was just suicide, what a freak

Aside from the nexus and the VGU network, there's an upcoming modding site for Skyrim. Sounds promising but it has just started. I share the info with you:
| QUOTE ("Fliggerty") |
[Fliggerty] Hey everyone!
When it comes to sharing your mods with the community here, have you given any thought about how you will go about it? Where you will upload them? You put a lot of time and effort into your mod, and you definitely want people to enjoy it, right? Of course you do! So why would you upload them to the same old mod hosting sites that haven't changed more than appearance in years?
The Holds of Skyrim -- This is future of mod hosting!
All of us at Great House Fliggerty have been working on planning and building this new hosting site for months on end...we literally started the day Skyrim was announced. We have conducted polls throughout this and other modding communities to get preferences and ideas, we have spoken with hundreds of mod authors, and of course we are modders and mod players. All of the input we've gotten has come together to make an amazing resource!
Site Features:
- Share your mods with full descriptions, tags, screenshots, and comments.
- Add an unlimited number of files to each "mod," so you can include patches, support files, and multiple versions
- You have full control over your mods; you choose if the public can add comments, screenshots, use it as a resource, etc.
- Track all of the mods you've downloaded in your Manager....mark those you love and remove those you don't care for.
- Acquire mod resources such as meshes and scripts in our Resource gallery that you can use in your own creations!
- You will NEVER be forced to watch a 45 second video ad before downloading!
- And a LOT more....!
Our entire goal has been to design a system that is easy to use for both mod authors and end users, and yet is very powerful and loaded with goodies! We wanted to ensure that "trolls" couldn't just easily come by and spoil the reputation of your hard work with a single click or low rating....we have what we think is a very fair tracking system in place that tells a user how many times your mod has been download, how many people 'love" it, and how many people have deleted it from their Manager. It's as simple as that.
I also want to point out that we have some very talented developers working on other tools that will be available down the road. We will have a readme generator which can import details from your mod and add it to your File Manager already. We are working on adding a full featured forum to replace the simple comment system that can be available for each and every mod! And as we speak, developers are building a client-side app which you can use to automatically sync a selected folder on your computer with your online File Manager; that's right....YOU WON'T HAVE TO MANUALLY UPLOAD FILES EVER AGAIN!
So come on over to The Holds of Skyrim and take a look around. Excuse our dust as our construction crews finish up polishing everything (there are a few "Coming Soon" features right now, but over the next few days those will be replaced with real stuff!) And let's make Skyrim as amazing as Morrowind and Oblivion became! |

"Saving your soul, but taking your money, flies around shit, bees around honey".
DarkSamus - November 27, 2011 05:05 PM (GMT)
You guys do realize I was just making a joke because of the article?
I haven't played Skyrim and one thing I learned years ago is you shouldn't judge a game you haven't played.
Also I am pretty sure the article I linked is a troll article designed to inflame fans.
Looks like it worked in this thread at least due to all the dislikes on my post :P
Oh well, At least zaia seemed to see it for what it is.

I can confirm this Article ! this is all true!!!!! We don't Need to hide ourselves anymore Wizard :tehe:
Some people really don't get satirical articles(at least i hope so....because if it's not satire whoever wrote this article should be institutionalized......)
My first mod released on Nexus and it's a success YAY! :>

Oh my...cant wait for my laptop....uuugh...Skyrim is calling for me
supagokuman2 - December 14, 2011 01:36 AM (GMT)
Skyrim is fairly easy to mod, and if it DOES have modding tools like the GECK (like Tromp said), then it should be even easier...
I've been playing a lot of Fallout 3 & New Vegas lately ever since I found Fallout 3 for $6 at Gamestop :>

Both fallout 3 & New Vegas are amazing games.
shockz - December 14, 2011 09:53 AM (GMT)
Don't leave me behind after i get my new pc and a wired connection im up for modding it aswell.
not sure how long my re4 project is going to take though so i might be late to the modding party again.. :)
Re4 limits what i can do as its badly put together, ive modded farcry and crysis a very little problems or struggle so its obvious re4 is just damn right screwed up.
final Fantasy 7 was a biatch to mod but even that didn't have any problems with the textures for the level layouts.
Add me in all :) looks like an awsome game and if the tools are there then so am i... :)
Noodles - December 14, 2011 02:47 PM (GMT)
Is skyrim easier to mod than re4? I do want to learn how to mod different games
shockz - December 15, 2011 12:32 AM (GMT)
Noodles. if its harder or easier its moddable...
Im planning to learn how to mod it just like all the others i modded...
at first its hard then it becomes natural and easy...
Plus there is always people willing to help out. :)

Well, it depends on who you ask. But really, i think it is easier. All it takes is just a bit of practice, that's all. And if the modding tools get released, itll be even easier!
@Wizard (Or Votc) I LOVE the Fallout series 3 & up. I JUST wish it could somehow be Multiplayer. Maybe Fallout 5 will be....?
