A Refreshing Drink

Swiftshadow bent over and began lapping the water from the lake. The cool, clear water refreshed him. I love days like this. He thought to himself. Nothing could please him more than what he was doing now. The high afternoon sun shone down on the land. He sat back and pondered all the beauty. You know, I might just take a hike though the Miraculous Mountains today. He thought.

Sham watched the new fox from atop a boulder. A brisk wind blew from behind him,ruffleing his red fur and sending his sent to the other fox. Welp, there went my chance of scaring him half to death. Darn it. Sham thought, givig a strech and yawning. He jumped down from the rock, landing nimbly on his black paws.

Swiftshadow's ears pricked up at the noise he heard. He stopped drinking and turned to look at the fox. "Good day to you sir!" Swiftshadow said wondering why the fox was sneaking up on him like that. "Is there any thing wrong sir?" he questioned. Swiftshadow went back to his drinking. He loved days like this and nothing was going to ruin it, not even this fox he encountered.

"Sir? Boy its been a long time since anythings called me that. And no, nothings wrong. The wind just runined my plan of scaring the livin daylights out of ya." Sham looked at the woods behind him as he padded forward next to the other fox. Just ye wait till I get my paws on ya wind! Ye have to take shape sooner or later ya hear! And when ye do I'll be there!" He yelled at the woods around him. Still grumbling under his breath Sham turned to look at the other fox. "Woops, I do belive that I forgot to interduce my self. Name's Sham, Aldor of Silent Sights. And ye would be?"

Swiftshadow started to get confused as the fox talked to the wind. Ok... This fox talks to the wind. Does he do that often, he thought. Swiftshadow looked up at the sun beating down on his pelt. It was definitely a lovely day. "So your Sham, Aldor of Silent Sights. Sorry I stormed onto your territory." said Swiftshadow. The dark-furred fox put his muzzle back in the water and started to drink again.

Sham notaced the other foxes confused expresion before he lowered his head back down to drink. "Oh, ye got used to me after a bit. Though it still freaks a few out." He gave a small chuckle. He glanced at the lake. Sham made his way into the water, grinning at himself. He stoped when the water was up to his ribs.

"I, myself am looking for a skulk. I was very thristy and didn't really want to wait on the boder for one of you to come along. So I am sorry, but I would like to join your skulk," Swiftshadow hoped that this Aldor would let him join his skulk, even though he had broken one of the worst rules a fox could brake. This was to intrude on another skulk's territory which you werent a member of.

I'll tell ye what, I'll let ye join, one one condition. If, and only if, ye will do something for me."Sham gave Swiftshadow a lopsided grin, showing one of his k-9s. He winked at his reflection, he was about to show this newcomer what his life in Silent Sights would be like.

"Allright, what is it? I can do whatever you want." Swiftshadow puffed his chest out.

"Brave boy are ye? Welp, I want you to stand in this lake and shout, 'Sham is the greatest fox ever, and I love skunks!' Do ye think ye can do that?"Sham considered the trick, it wasn't as funny as it used to be. He would have to come up with a new one. Something with a skunk nest, a tree and the rest of the sulk. Yea... Sham thought, planing for the next welcoming prank. "Oh, and ye have to ge to the middle of the lake. And if ye refuse to do this I have something else planned." He looked down at his paws to see a few fish tasting them. They had gone numb from the cold water. He sloshed out of the lake, splashing some water on Swiftshadow as he went.
