This forum uses an E-Mail based validation system to authorise members
What this means is:
When you sign up an E-Mail is sent to the address you specified while signing up, this E-Mail contains a link that you must click to have your account activated
Why this system is here:
This system ensures that those signing up are human (they need to click a link), rather than simply an automated "bot" programme that is signing up to post advertisements, viruses or pornography - bots such as this are a serious problem on the internet today
The system also helps prevent people who have been banned from the forum signing up again, as each E-Mail address they use must work, it is a standard security measure taken on internet forums such as this
Why You Havnt Received Your E-Mail and what you can do about it:
Your E-Mail provider may be filtering the E-Mail as spam, @rhul.ac.uk E-Mail addresses have been known to do this so the first thing to do is to check your junk E-Mail folder
If the message is not there, then it may have been deleted permenantly by your E-Mail provider already, or there may have been a problem in sending, the next step in either case is to click the "Resend Validation E-Mail" link in the top right corner (you may have to scroll up)
If you do not receive another E-Mail within 24 hours, it may be that your E-Mail provider does not allow messages from Invisionfree to be received at all RHUL E-Mail accounts are also known to do this, in this case please sign up again with a different E-Mail address, you may have to use a different username to sign up
If you do not wish to use a different username at this point, please E-Mail Mordax.Praetorian@googlemail.com with the username that you specified and I will remove you from the validation queue and allow you to sign up again
If you do not have another E-Mail address to sign up with, one can be obtained free from www.hotmail.co.uk
If you are still having problems, or have any queries as to the above information, please E-Mail Mordax.Praetorian@googlemail.com and I will sort you out
If you do not have an E-Mail address and are a collage student, then let me assure you that you do have an E-Mail address and you should go to the computer centre to find out what it is and how to access it
If you have never been a student at the Royal Holloway University of London, please leave |
