MY history of this forum (from my point of view)

It was about, July, 2007, and I was on TeamAero at the time. And InfamousB4L and Destroyer of Toast left the chat and said "omg loco come to PokemonNation they have REALLY GOOD BATTLERS!" and at the time I was just a nub from GT[gametalk[ and I didnt know much. Once I get here, I see RyouChan, Trey, BKK, Ace, Sweeper, CTI and Coffee on the chat and I see trey talkin trash about how good his new team is. So I say something stupid like "omg wanna battle? i bet i could beat u!" I was just confident cuz I had just defeated Ace (who i knew from GT) with a lot of luck hax. In the battle, I killed maybe ONE of trey's pokemon and then he swept me easily. I acted like a noob and complained about luck hax, and made up some story about "a lot of critical hits." THEN... RyouChan heard me complaining and battled me to shut me up. I got owned again, and this time I just sat on the chat quietly... Then the next morning I hear sweeper talkin bout some stuff and I say "Omg I could probably beat u! u sound like a total n00b, seriously." So we battle, and he's 6-0ing me easily while I make up excuses like "well hes using skarmbliss". Near the end of the 6-0 sweep, my Wi-Fi F*cking DC'S US!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and of course he thinks that I turned my game off, so that kinda partly ruined my rep here. But as the months went by, I still visited Nation and grew to become a better battler, and into what I am now.

My pokemon story

lol i said I wasn't gonna write one but my story is too funny smile.gif

It was February 2005, and I, like most 14 year old boys had grown out of Pokemon, I had never played competitive Pokemon just the in game part. Anyways, i had grown out of the game like all of my friends when my friend Nathan ( 00munchlax ) had come over too spend the night, now being a j00 my mom made me clean my closet while he was spending the night <.<. When we came across my old Ruby and Sapphire version. I just overlooked them but 00munchlax came too me with the idea too bet on Pokemon (which if you know me at all I love money @_@) Just a simple bet 20 bucks for the 1st to beat the game and 15 more for the person who won in a head-to-head battle.

Now at the time i knew nothing about competitive Pokemon, and when i went over too 00munchlax's house he was getting tips on which Pokemon to use on this site GameTalk.com, so to even the playing field I posted a few times there. My 1st was "rate my aggron", my aggron was straight up all special attacks and they just flames the Sh** out of me.I promised myself never to be flamed again so I hung around the forums and slowly picked up the basics of competitive Pokemon.Later on a few months later I heard that a new game was coming out soon, "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl version" When i herd it had wifi 00munchlax and I became obsessed and promised ourselves to be the best( We almost failed freshman year do too Pokemon, we made teams in science smile.gif)

HOW I MET CHIEF AKA ACE

Being me I told absolutely NO ONE about me and 00munchlax playing Pokemon, but when it came close to the D/P release date we would drop hints around school that we played lol. SO ONE DAY... we were in basketball class and my extremely white friend was in the gym and i leaned over and said "Hey Nathan look Josh is a shiny!!! How rare" and no one got it but us...

BUT THEN i hear from the distance " your chances of getting a shiny is 1 in every 8546 Pokemon" TOTALLY STUNNED i turned around and see this 6 foot 6 black kid behind me saying this so i interrogate him. He admits he plays Pokemon( 3 days b4 D/P release ) he says he plays competitively and told me he went to this site called Pokemon Nation, the next day i see chief/ace ( and btw I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I DIDN'T KNOW HE PLAYED I SEE HIM THE NEXT DAY AND HE WIPS OUT THE DAMN DIALGA STYLUS!) and he gives me the link, i was here at Pokemon nation 3 days b4 the game came out but when i saw the chat box i was terrified to talk

REASON I WAS TERRIFIED TO TALK ohmy.gif

Gametalk.com was clan obsessed so i was destine to have the biggest best clan... now at the time i had 20 members on my free webs site and I thought i had the biggest site smile.gif, but then chief ( who know is on gametalk with me and 00munchlax) tells me that site he told me about was a clan!!! I scroll down the page, see 29 people on the chat, and see 359 registered members... my face went ohmy.gif so then i had to make a rival clan for Pokemon nation, Team Aero was the name... to shorten the story it failed( would have worked, in 2 months 200 reg members and real active, but the main admin went to college in august and closed the site down) and i joined here

Thats how i came here, btw, i will never forget my friends face when he saw chief/ace wipp out that dialga stylus.. it was a priceless moment lol

side note

WHY I HAVE SO MANY NAME CHANGES

I was responsible for the clan obsession at gametalk.com but i started the clan obsession.,.. wit ha poke thief clan... We would catch kadabras and ask people too help us evolve them.. then when we get into trade we would ask can we see this guy for our dex.. then dc sad.gif well people cought on that it was me doing that even when i changed identity so i just kept changing and changing until everyone forgot that it was me smile.gif

LOL look what i found!!!! this is a tip on hwo to avoid me in my nub days sad.gif

HOW TO AVOID THE P-THIEVES

MY NUB TIPS!
my nub tips :'(

I met up with the CPTC back during JAA LA, and I've kept in touch with them ever since.

I've been into pokemon ever since I saw a commercial for the show back when it first came out. When I heard there was a game being released along with the show, I was sold. Brilliant, I thought. It's a game with RPG elements that focusses on battling. I love the battling aspect of RPGs. It also had a wide variety of monsters to choose from, which allowed for individuality. And there was gonna be a show! So cool.

I haven't really kept up with the show, but the games I still love. Actually, there was a couple years where I put the game down because I wasn't thrilled with the Ruby/Sapphire generation and the glaring lack of Venusaur, but when FireRed and LeafGreen came out, I got into it all over again.

When I got back into pokemon, I decided I wanted to play a bit more competitively. I remember losing a lot back in the R/B/Y days, and I didn't want that to happen again. I did a lot of research and analysis and constructed my pokemon. Gamefaqs was my pokemon community back then. It took some time, but I eventually learned some things there. I became disgruntled with the community there, as everyone was very elitist and put noobies down who actually used original strategies.

At about that time, I found out about Journey Across America. A couple of my friends and I (my old crew) trained hard for a whole month getting a competitive team together. We all trained and battled together , and it felt like we were a crew. We wanted to be honorable and compete without Ubers. We all lost in the tournament early on, but I did manage to get to the second round after defeating Petite's team. I was taken down by the eventual winner of the tournament Gabriel. Candice made it to the third round before she lost to Gabriel. Then later I gave someone advice on how to defeat Gabriel's weather team. I think I told Ricky. Ricky went on to defeat Omastar Master, who was using the same team as his brother Gabriel.

When JAA ended, my friends and I all felt dejected. I wanted to quit Pokemon directly after that, actually. But then I met Bluekikatana and his crew. They were hanging out after the tournament trying to get some casual matches from that crew the Mexican Alliance. Meeting BKK, I found out there were other cool people that enjoyed that game and didn't have to be all elitist about it. Later, I played some more friendly matches, and ended up taking down a legendary team with my Grass team. That made me proud, and I figured maybe I had more potential than I was giving myself credit for..

Yeah, BKK really got me motivated for pokemon. After I saw how legitimate his crew was, I wanted to start my own crew and host my own tournament. I hosted a tournament that was supposed to be a retry of Journey Across America. Everyone was pretty upset that they didn't do so well, so I wanted to give everyone a chance to really prove themselves. The rules were essentially the same, but I got rid of the time, since nobody liked the timed matches and that rule actually cost my Jason his match.

My crew and the major members of pokemon nation showed up. We got rocked again, but it was okay, because we all had fun. I believe PsiUmbreon ended up winning.

Later on, I hosted two more smaller tourneys, and the Anime Expo Pokemon Tournament of 2007. That was my largest tourney--it has 30+ people--and I was really proud of myself for organizing it.

Since then, I've lost my motivation to host events or even play pokemon anymore. I haven't been active in Pokemon nation for a couple months now since I've been busy. I decided to go back to school to get a teaching credential, so that's been taking up a lot of my time. Although, school is getting out soon, and all this time about the glory days is getting me all nostalgic. If the AX staff ever gets back to me, well, I might just take up the role of tournament organizer once more.

Oh man, I feel kinda bad for kicking a dead thread, but I just wanted to say how this thread means a lot to me.

I've been feeling kind of down in the dumps lately (I'm sure plenty of us have been this way at some point) and when I feel kind of depressed I wander over to the old threads here. Some of the most precious memories I have are from this site and the group of people that made it the way it is.

I've always felt so sad whenever PN starts to lose its will to live. Reading through this old thread always makes me smile, so I think even if I am the "jolliest" member of this group I'm pretty sure I'll be the saddest if PN really does die.

Happy 5 year Anniversary guys.
5 years ago in this month of October, 12 of us met in Santa Monica mall to have a tournament. Since then we had many good memories, Pokemon related or not. I can't say my passion for Pokemon still remains nearly as strong as it was back in those days, but you guys will always mean more to me than just the franchise that got us together through playing.

It's a thread about our history, it was meant to be kicked.

Cool thread. I got pearl version and found topolegion. Then I played in the tournament and got ass-penetrated by synre. From then on I began to work to make better pokes. Was admin for a while, got bored of pokemon. Then I spammed the hell out of smogon cuz I was bored and got ip banned for a year or so. So now I'm just playing shoddybattle when I'm bored and am planning on getting a new DS and platinum. icon_xp.gif You guys still play?
