This is the history from my point of view:

It all started when I met PsiUmbreon at Wizards Of The Coast, durring the Pokemon TCG league.

I met him when he came up to me looking to trade for my Neo Discovory Umbreon card, the card was ripped completely in half. Psi was wanted it bad enough that he offered to pay me $5 for it.
I was like... "okay" and he bought the card from me.
Then I was thinking, "I can't believe I sold that thing for $5. I'll probably won't see him again so I don't have to feel to bad."
But I saw him there a week later. I played him in a game of Pokemon cards, and he kicked my ass in that game!
I was in shock that he managed to beat me so easy!
Not to long after that we heard that Wizards Of The Coast was closing down, so Psi invited me to come over to his house to play SmashBros. and Pokemon TCG.

(This Wizards Of the Coast was the very same one BlueKiKatana and his brother got banned from.
But then, nether me nor Psi knew them didn't know him.)

So I went over there, and met his sister, then we played SmashBros. And you won't believe it...
"His sister" kicked my ass in SmashBros using Link, and I was Sheik!
And he was worse, he was Marth!

We hung out a lot, and became close friends.
Then when when Ruby and Sapphire versions came out, we used to always battle it out in that game.
Later he found out about Serebii, or knew of it and decided to check it out, there He found a club called the California Pokemon Trainers Club (CPTC).
We decided to go check it out.
Back then a guy that goes by the name SantaMonicaMatt (from serebii) was the incharge of the gathering. And on that very same day, that's when we met BlueKiKatana and his bro.
Then Bex shows up, we met her for the first time, that was also the first time BKK and his bro met her.

We noticed that she was unable to speak, and I was the first person she wrote her words to that day.
We all wrote to her, while waiting for SantaMonicaMatt to show up, I couldn't wait for the tournament to begin!
It took him a while but I was able to talk to Bex, Bkk, and his Bro: ShadowTrainerDJM.
Then when Matt shows up, we all noticed that "he only had one arm!"
I was thinking, "wow, I can't believe he plays Pokemon with one arm, that's cool."
Back then it was the age of the older GameBoyAdvance, so I was like "boy, it must be hard for him."

Then the Tournament begun, I had to battle BlueKiKatana, He nailed me, I said good game, but I was really thinking, "I want revenge, I'm going to kill you."
At the end of the day, we all decided to keep in touch and meet up again on the very last saturday of the month.
And so we did, and eventually, SantaMonicaMatt left CPTC in the hands of BlueKiKatana, and we all met up like all the other times, Psi, Bkk, Bex, DJM, and I became close friends, and made CPTC our own turf.
We held it together for about 3 years, and everything went well.

And somewhere along the line, Psi met Zan-chan, then from her we met Lexite and Anduril, very cool people I think.

Also within those 3 years, I thought about "what if we had our own froum, we should since we have CPTC".
So me, BKK and DJM was on the bus on our way to meet up with Bex. I told Bkk about my Idea about starting our own Pokemon forum.
This was Friday Sep.22 2006. We all when to hang out in SantaMonica, and saw Fearless (Jet Li's FinalMartial Arts epic). We all sat down and mentioned it to Bex about making the forum, She said she could help, and I got excited!
I couldn't wait to get it started, I really wanted to see this happen.
The hard part was thinking of a name for the forum, we came up with all kinds of names, like PokemonChampions (PokeChamps for short), Pokemon Dojo, or PokeGym.
That's when I thought "PokemonNation".
and everyone liked that name, so that's the name we've chosen.

We started out as "PokemonNation: The Wifi BattleGrounds", But Bkk found a froum that already had the name BattleGrounds, so we had a vote on how to change our title.
All of us Admin agreed on "Vigilantes Of Wifi" (Bkk's idea)
Back then, I was SuperMod, not admin, due to to the lack of members visiting our forums.

Even down to our last gathering at SantaMonica it was rather slow, and that's when OmastarMaster joined us here, after meeting him in person at our last few 3rd gen tournaments.
Back then Psi really wanted to see Bkk lose, he didn't care who beat him, all that mattered to him was that bkk lost.
That was kind of funny to me.

For a while our forums was pretty empty, it was just us Mods and Admin posting here, but then whe BlueKiKatana beat Smogon in their own 1st Wifi tournament, everyone rushed over here!
I remember it like it where yesterday, I watched as BlueKiKatana KOed Synre's Staraptor with his Blissey.
He and I both was like ZOMG!!!
For that whole week, We was crowded here, and that was great!

Tell us what your point of view her is, what lead you here? was your toughest battle here at PokemonNation? Witch one of your friends have you met on this forum?
No story is to boring for this topic, share with us your history.

Now must say thank you all for joining us here at PokemonNation, if the're are noobs here, you better believe that they'll destroy all of the other noobs from all of the other forums!

I urge you to get out there, and put my words to the test!

Okay, I can give ya the details left out for this'un.

I had just gotten out of the hospital and I was confined to my mom's place with nothing to do. I wasn't even allowed to touch electronics for more than one hour--because my parents believed that my behavior was due to video games at the time.

Lucky for me I was able to persuade my parents with logic. But that's another story.

I wandered onto serebii one day and started talking to people in the CPTC thread. There, I met PsiUmbreon, who was a moderator. He was pretty much the only person who would talk to me (because I kept begging to hang out with everyone and I guess they got annoyed). Soooo he became my contact for my very first CPTC meeting.

That was where I met Lazer, BKK, and the rest. happy.gif

Alright people! Just to inform you, I am not the one-armed Matt! *checks to confirm* Yep. I've got two of 'em.

Now, step aside or have a seat because my short tale begins now.

On May 22, 1990 at 2:20 a.m., a beautiful baby boy was born... Okay, maybe I shouldn't go that far back. icon_sweatdrop.gif

In 1999, when I was 9 years old, I learned about this new show called Pokemon. I grew addicted to Pokemon after seeing one episode of the anime, which led to my buying Blue version and almost every other game thereafter.

After my friends and cousins "grew out" of Pokemon sometime around 2001 I believe, I was still as big a Pokemaniac as ever. Eager to find any information on Pokemon, whether it be old, new, or unknown, I continuously surfed the web in search of good Pokemon websites. I found a few that I liked, until I stumbled across a site known as Serebii.net, which by far was my absolute favorite Pokesite. It was every Pokefan's dream website with info on lost episodes of the anime, new Pokemon being introduced, new games, and all that good stuff. notworthy.gif Later, I discovered the forums and was very intimidated... Okay, that's an understatement. I was terrified for reasons unknown to myslef. Maybe it was the vastness of the board, or maybe it was because I was totally clueless to what a forum was (I was a kid surfing the evil internet that parents try to keep you away from afterall). faq.gif This new feeling of actually talking to complete strangers was... THRILLING! Finally, Serebiiforums became the first board I had ever joined (without a parent's consent too innocent.gif), and I believe that was in December 2005. I made some new Pokemon friends online and really wanted to meet other Pokefans irl. Then, as I searched through the clubs (my main hang-out section of Serebii forums), I discovered one called the California Pokemon Trainers Club. It excited me cause I lived (and still do) in California.

I posted asking to join and was welcomed by these friendly people you see here. I was eager to go to one of their meet ups, but with this crazy world we live in, my mom didn't hesitate saying "No" to meeting people I was introduced to online. Finally, this little event known as Journey Across America comes to town, and my mom agrees to bring me and my little brother to it. That is the one and only time I ever met PsiUmbreon, Lazer, Bex, BlueKiKatana, and some guy called MacX who we don't seem to see around here anymore.

I later learned that with the introduction of Wi-Fi battling and trading, the CPTC was expanding itself into their very own forums which we now call Pokemon Nation. I feel I've grown really close to the people around here now. smile.gif

Nice story Lazer, I remember it all well. Now I'll throw in my point of view, which was a bit different from Lazer's story. Anyhow here is a somewhat extended version of most of the history here. It's just an overall summary, but there are still a few things I missed! Thank you to everyone who reads all this regardless though X).

History of this Forum

First off, this forum right here, is perhaps almost 4 years old, or maybe older than that. It originally started as Bex's original social fun forum "Insanity". This was a place that most of us serebii members went to go unwind at as somewhat a place of "no rules". The staff list at insanity was originally pretty short, so after maybe 2 years or so it kind of just slipped into inactivity and was some what forgotten.

However, Insanity was reborn the month before the Japanese D/P games were released as "Pokemon Nation". We figured out, that this generation of Pokemon was going to be very online, more than anything else, so that we needed our own forum, rather than continue all of our operations through the Serebii CPTC thread we had.

History of Pokemon in Southern CA and the California Trainers Club

Now the CPTC thread (which stands for California Pokemon Trainers Club) at Serebii was very ancient, and rather cluttered too X)! It started out when Meetup.com, a website where you go to meet people that share your interests, had a Pokemon section. At the time I was a student of independent studies, meaning I worked on finishing my highschool studies by doing them myself (without much help). I was kicked out of many public and private schools before this, so this was really the only way left for me.

Since school was really the way most people met their friends, at the time I really had no friends, social hobby events and event makers like meetup.com were really the only way I could make friends. Before that I met most of my close friends from Wizards of the Coast Pokemon TCG league. I was a serious and competitive TCG player from when it first hit the states to about late 2002.

Going to the the Pokemon TCG league every Saturday morning in the misty cold beach shores of Santa Monica mall was really heaven for me at the time. I went with my brother twice a week to our league, and at times took up to 4 buses to get there and came back home at 11 pm. I was 15 at the time and he was 13.

The first time we went to that league we were kind of looked at as "fresh meat". Really a bunch of basic noobs X), but well we quickly proved our determination, by bringing in some of our friends and practically dominating each monthly tournament month after month. We would beat them by placing First, Second, Third in 30+ player tournaments and beating out even the adults who played at the time.

While this was more fun than anything else at the time, the manager was quickly getting over zealous about us winning so much. The manager looked at as "hoodlums" of the league, and basically a bunch of teen kids who were stealing the winning loot from the families that played there, so at the time he was really looking for any little reason to get rid of us all, which consisted of about 5 of us; my bro, Julian, Tommy, Ryan and myself.

Soon after our winning streak started, many politics began. We'd end up being disqualified even after our win for simple things like putting a regular berry behind a gold berry in one sleeve (this was to no advantage) it usually meant we were borrowing a card to replace an inferior card for tournament day. However, it was enough to justify banning us from the store for the manager.

The day my crew was banned, our best rival was also banned, a man who went as "Larry the legend" who really was just a crazy character to face in Pokemon and was always a pleasure to battle with. This was even more further proof that it was just a bunch of politics to keep their store prizes for the very young "kids". We weren't going to take that type of discrimination though, so just by surprise, Larry pulled out a whole load of stink bombs. I mean pretty big significant looking ones.

No idea why he was actually carrying a pack of stink bombs, but there was a festival going on that day near the beach, so he probably got them around there. From there we decided we would bomb the store on their tournament day (the same day we were banned). We patiently waited until their tournament began at around 3pm, then we thoroughly shot a couple of stink bombs into the store on a "passing by".

Pretty much immediately after that, the entire store came running out choking/gagging at the smell. Seems like a messed up thing to do, but to us who were kids at the time it was really hilarious to us and was well deserved revenge. From this day on, my crew and Larry was banned Nation wide from WOTC store by name.

That wasn't about to stop us though. We continued entering tournaments at different TCG leagues under different alias's (names). We dominated almost every other league we went to. However, soon after this, the very few Pokemon TCG leagues left in SoCal began to collapse. This was when WOTC went under, practically all stores of this brand were closed down, and their Pokemon TCG license was lost.

For 2 years after that, life was some what plain for us. Pokemon wasn't too popular around these parts. The TCG was picked back up by Nintendo after a bit, but it just never spread out that well in Los Angeles again. For me who didn't really have many ways of meeting people, I lost something very precious to me.

I started playing MMORPGs and practicing martial arts during these 2 years where I had very little Pokemon and actual socialization in my life. Then as the age of 3rd gen Pokemon came about (I always played the games). I wanted to play other people in Pokemon battles, so I discovered Meetup.com. It was a website where anyone with a desire could host their own public event that got enthusiasts together of that particular hobby.

I believe I was the first member of the Pokemon meetup in Los Angeles. After a few members joined it I would get letters almost weekly of the group needing a leader to head it, though, it just never really came to me to lead it myself X). Thankfully, soon after that I got an alert in my email that someone named Santa Monica Matt decided to lead the meetup, and that we would be meeting at a FR/LG Pokemon give away at ToysRus.

We contacted each other soon, and decided that for us to make this meetup bigger we would have to put it somewhere that had A LOT of Pokemon fans. This is what started the CPTC thread on Serebii.net forums. We had our first real meetup in September of 2004 I believe at Toys R Us, and it consisted of One Armed Matt, Macdad, ShadowTrainer (mybro), and myself.

There were also about 20 other people who showed up just for the pokemon give away. It was really surreal for me to see all these Pokemon fans in one place again, it had been a while for me to see it, but it was nice I got some real cool battles in that day. About a month after that, in October I believe, we started the first ever CPTC tournament at the Santa Monica mall.

I would have never guessed in my wild dreams that I'd be playing Pokemon competitively at Santa Monica again! It was really amazing for me. For our first official tourney meetup, we got a whopping 12 people to show up! That doesn't sound like much, but for a self organized Pokemon video game event it was for us!
My first opponent of that day was *Lazer*. I remember facing him I learned the true meaning of stall laugh.gif.

People kept asking us, are you and Christian done yet? Just to respond with "no" lol... We really had some amazing matches and really memorable tournaments at the Santa Monica mall, and at times they would start at 12 noon and end at 1 am! Talk about hardcore Pokemon battles! I think my most memorable battle there for me was actually the very last 3rd gen battle I had there, which was;
PsiUmbreon VS BlueKiKatana (me) in the finals of our
3rd gen closing tournament.

It was a best 2 out of 3 match and the rules changed for every round, ubers were also allowed in the final 2 matches and there was also no sleep clause for one match! We really wanted a tournament that let us play the Pokemon video game completely naturally to see what would happen, and boy was it crazy. I won the first round with a sand storm DD Tyranitar team playing a pretty close game, then on the second round Psi changed his team to a sunny day variety with Groudon, where my entire team was almost put to sleep, and it turned ugly from there. Then the final round was a mix of pure ubers and very strong standards.

Psi played the final match very offensively and I was on the defense for half of the match and had to sacrifice at least 2 pokes against his very strong ubers. I wasn't sure if I could win, but I was trying my best. After my Kyogre took a beating, I finally got to bring in my icon_xd.gif Zapdos and baton pass speed to my Heracross, and began to setup for the reversal, my Heracross barely survived the calm minded dragon claw on the way in, but helped me sweep through Greg’s final pokes getting me that final 3rd gen tournament win. For me it was rather a meaningful victory, being the very last 3rd gen tournament we hosted, and for the reason that that I lost my girlfriend in a mean breakup maybe a month before, so losing that competition wasn’t an option for me.

We had many great tournaments in the CPTC like this and many that included winning titles in official Nintendo events too. We had a really incredible showing for Pokemon Rocks America 2005 were we won ALL of their Nintendo DS’s that they gave away to the winners of their battle tower 3vs3 challenge. On that day 3 of us and a friend from San Jose (Genni) all got free Nintendo DS’s for playing and a lot of other free merchandise.

It wasn’t over yet though, in the big Journey Across America Pokemon competition in 2006, I would say we got the most people from one area up to NYC courtesy of Pokemon of America. For many of the members of the CPTC, that was the first time ever flying on a plane! We got 6 of us from Los Angeles all the way across the country to NYC for that competition and to enjoy that event. It was truly amazing, if that word even fits for that. I never imagined we would have been able to get all our players up there for the Video Game Nationals, but we did, and that’s what really mattered to me.

History of the Vigilantes of Wi-Fi (Our Clan Name)

When these forums were first introduced, we had a topic titled “Becoming More”.
In that, thread we had a 4-page discussion on what our clan name would be and why it would be this. We went through a lot of names, but in the end it came down to;

The Honor Guards of Wi-Fi
&
The Vigilantes of Wi-Fi

As you may be able to tell Vigilantes, sounds just a lot better in general icon_xp.gif. Anyhow, I took some passages from that legendary thread and edited them a bit to reflect some of my thoughts today on the name.

When I was thinking of the name, I wanted the majority here to be happy with it, and I didn’t think it had to be completely Pokemon associated. However, I was trying to associate it with the roots of this game. It is a “Japanese”, “Asian”, “Battling” game, with a lot of Zen like culture and myths associated with it. This is why you see the Yin Yang symbol on there. We also focus on “Battling”, “Wi-Fi”. We once used to battle with only those we could (our CA friends), now however, Pokemon has turned into an online phenomenon, that is why we have the “Nation” in our name, because we now welcome all as foes and, or friends alike.

Pokemon is also part of the “Entertainment” business, so it has gotta sound cool! We represent ourselves well through our battling skills; however, our banner and name as well should be pleasing to the senses and be cool enough to spark curiosity and interest among our visitors, or people who hear of us.

At first Compy Franko thought that the word Vigilante might have a negative association with it, however the way I thought of it really didn’t have a negative association. To me the word Vigilante, sounds pretty cool, and it mostly means like an "Outlaw or Freedom Fighter" that takes the law into their own hands some times. However, just because vigilantes do that, they don’t often think of themselves as superior or truly high in power in a conceding type of way. We’re still human and realize we can make mistakes, and respect equality and justice more than anything else.

While the meaning of Vigilantes can have some negative aspects of what it means. I think when people visit us and see our rules and way of handling things they will see we are serious and our methods can be "nasty" in battle, but when it comes to our ethics and our sincere behaviors outside of it, we try to be nice and honest people.

For those who didn't know, the "Spirit of the Game rules" that originated in JAA, those type of rules had never ever been implemented in any official Pokemon tournament before, and was pretty much started because of a lot of our efforts. Myself, and a few friends of mine called and emailed the Pokemon headquarters at NYC several times and actually talked on the phone to top Pokemon of America officials , telling them that they needed to do something about the cheating that had already been done and was going to continue in their JAA tournaments. This happened right after Spencer from Houston won (Roy from smogon) and admitted to winning with completely hacked up Pokemon. The people who started the major protest were mostly from Los Angeles with me too, so that is why I think we at LA ended up being the guinea pigs for this method of rules were they take some time to examine your cartridges, and role back a lot of data.

At first, a lot of the competitive players were saying;
"It can't be done, cheaters won't be caught, etc" well let me tell you they were wrong! I kept trying hard and insisting with POA telling them that they had to try and do SOMETHING, whatever they had to do, if they actually cared about fair play they would do it. To us it's events like this, were us, the players go the extra mile to make things "justified" in our own way, thus making us almost "Pokemon Vigilantes" that is where the name has originated from.

It's our own way of justice to try our best and make the competitive in-game Pokemon scene a fair one. While some competitors did get disqualified for cheating in other ways not associated with their competitive JAA team, which can be seen as unfortunate, the majority of cheaters who got disqualified genuinely cheated up their entire team by putting in the stats and deserved the disqualification.

If us, the players didn’t go the extra effort to make this happen, I guarantee you someone who cheated for their entire team would have won the biggest Pokemon tournament of all time. I wasn’t about to let that happen either. Even if I myself or my friends got disqualified in the process (we all did our best not to cheat in any way what so ever though) even then I would have been happy that someone who fully worked for the title of JAA champion won it.

The image of fair play, and good sportsmanship through in game battles is what we mostly had in mind to promote here. Whether our name is Honor Guards or Vigilantes, they will know that it stands for players who love the competitive game, but yet also value equality.

History of the Vigilante Staff:

Any how, Garde was asking about how a lot of them became staff with their moderator or admin titles, and I will tell you, as many as you see there I don't give those titles away easy.

In chronicle order from oldest member to newest;

Bex:
Bex was the very first token female of the CPTC! I have always felt really fortunate when she graced us with her presence at our video game tournaments. We started as a bunch of guys (like 10 at a time) and there was this little brave deaf girl who stared us all in the face and dared to battle us! She is also the very artistic and talented creator of this forum, I don't know sh1t about creating forums, so it definitely wouldn't have happened without her icon_xp.gif.

BlueKiKatana:
I was made admin by Bex when this forum first started, many of you know plenty about me by now icon_xp.gif.

Lazer:
He is also one of the "first" members of the California Trainers Club, and has helped put a foundation of this forum, when it was really only 4 members around here. Without Lazer, there would also be no "Vigilantes" or CPTC. Lazer among with Greg (PsiUmbreon) are the only members I can say who have NEVER missed a CPTC event. These guys are the core of our history.

PsiUmbreon:
Another one of the very first CPTC members. Without Psi by our side, the CPTC and the Vigilantes would not exist. There was a time when it was only me and Psi who kept the CPTC club alive on serebii, to hopefully get other members from there. We did that sometimes for weeks at a time! I wouldn't have been able to do it alone, without him.

Voltaic:
Voltaic which is also a Matt (but not with one arm!) was also an original member from the CPTC. He was not able to come to our video game meetups, however he was very significant to keeping the CPTC alive, and contributing towards the forums you see here today. He is admin because he knows his technical sh1t , and is active here icon_xp.gif.

Compy Franko:
We met Franko and his crew at JAA Los Angeles 2006. Time goes by so fast, it's almost 2 years since then! It's hard to find people who have a genuine passion for this game, enough to travel to play and even dress up with some Pokemon apparel! But Franko was one of those true players, and he contributed plenty to the forums today and plenty to making Pokemon video game tournaments happen in SoCal.

Zan-Chan:
Zanney is still so active around here! She is really a pleasure to have around, and is the jolliest person I know. Without Zan-chan we would probably be a bunch of emo ninja guys icon_xp.gif. She has contributed a lot here in many creative ways we couldn't think of, we appreciate her efforts very much so and hope she will keep visiting us whether she feels like battling or not =D.

Lexite:
Jess is one of our other token vigilante females! She was introduced originally to the CPTC by Zan-chan, and has really amazed us all with her amazing bird teams. I haven't even seen males play "theme" teams that well X). So it's great seeing her and her fiancee (Anduril/Syberia) still really active in the Pokemon scene today, and I hope it continues being fun for them as they have contributed lots here.

Indigestible Wad:
Wad was a veteran and mod of Bex's first forum Insanity! He wasn't a member of the CPTC but he was an important member of insanity back then, and still is a significant member here today! It's great seeing an outsider of the CPTC want to contribute to this forum like he does.

Silv:
Silv is just crazy... He is a really cool guy to hang around. We met him at the amazing JAA Party of the Decade at NYC 2006. He made us feel really comfortable at NYC, and it really did feel like a party for us. He was also a very significant partner in crime for me when it came to changing the Pokemon of America rule systems and getting out the real cheaters out of that competition. I wouldn't have been able to do a lot of it without Silv, so he is also a true vigilante.
When it was just Bex, Lazer and I here, Silv was also a very important life force of this forum. There were weeks where I thought (is it dead yet?) and I checked and no it wasn't dead, there was Silv kicking it back to life again!

-: Trey :-
Trey is one of our newest vigilante staff, however, he has come a long way in a very short time! He has been with us for more than 7 months now, and has really put in a lot of effort into this game and into this forum, more than a lot of people. He's the only vigilante out of anyone on this list who I can say took as many beatings as I did, and entered almost as many tournaments as me in the past year X). If he keeps playing, he will begin a legendary campaign very soon. Trey is a pleasure to have around, we will miss him when he goes off to boarding school.

Oh wow..Thats very interesting about Zanney and Voltiac..and Lexite... i didnt know everybody came a long way. Well..i want to share my expirence of how i becaome involved in pokemon, and how i got famous" around here..

One february in 2007, someones life was changed for all of eternity. That person was me. Eager to see the new things about D/P, and while i was a youtube fanatic at the time, i searched on youtube. Thats when i came across "Pokemon Diamond And Pearl Kick-Off tourney." Thats what changed it all.

I click it...i watch it. I read the entire description. I clicked on the link. This was my first forum, and i was very confused. I didnt put so much concern into Wobba at first, since i joined in april, two months ahead. So i make the post for my entry. I get 17th place in the 64 person tourney. When it was all over..only 9 remained. Now i am closest friends with two of them. PumpedAaron, and Master. At first i thought aaron was retarded with all his conceited verbs. *Lat Spread* *ab Thrust* And it embarrased me.

And upon entering, i thought females were taking lightly, seeing how our admin [Petite] was treated by. So i decided to keep my true identity hidden. From there i was known as "Shane." Using pictures of my friend on the fake myspace, and on the site's map. It wasnt until around september that i revealed my true identity to those i trusted.

From the tourney, months passed. Petite and Rickety [Co-Admin] had totally abondoned us, leaving PumpedAaron and Trey as mods, and Xintetsu as "Tourney Director." Upon leaving us, she provided us with a chatbox. Imagine how i felt when i didnt get promoted...which is why im probably so eager to have power now. Since then, i can say i have taken care of Wobba. I hosted a tourney, which someone, of course, had to ruin. Which too got me upset. And also a SSBB tourney, which is getting semi-famous.

But then i realized, after all Aaron and I tried...Petite and Rickety werent coming back for us...ever. Until one day i was going through every topic. and i notice some links. One of them was "California Pokemon Trainers Club" So i clicked it. And not only was there an admin..there was four. And at the time i didnt know anybody. And that chatbox was on everypage..which was better then wobba's which was only in the portal. So after many challanges, and training hard, i have become the person i am today.

However, i do not know anybody in person from either forum, because i live in New York. But here i made many new friends, and even more perverts...well onw in particular. You know who you are. lol.

So after much thought, i have left wobba to become a Vigilante. I do not even get the respect i clearly deserve there. Here i do. Although the high number of mods is making me feel like i am a moderator on the chatbox for absolutely no reason, like many others.

Although i must say, if we werent 100% ditched, i never would have met the people here i did today. And although i think of myself has a knowledge "sage" for pokemon, i do not do well in battles, in my mind. Although i havent lost for a while now...others find me very competitive. And i am getting help by a certain member who shall remain name less, i can only strive to do better, and spread the word of the vigilantes all around the world.

The History of Lexite and Anduril

[b]The History of Lexite

Back in 5th grade I had this crush on this guy in my class (once again, as many of my crushes, there wasnt much reason behind it, i just liked him, he had really bad buck teeth mind you so it wasnt looks) and because i liked him i wanted to hang out with him and be his friend (toruned out he liked me too but we never said it but ohwell) we were friends and he started to play pokemon. Ofcourse, i started to play with him. A few other kids liked pokemon too and one started a club but to be in teh club you had to have a card, so the guy i iked gave me a ponyta and i was in the club. Zan-Chan came along and started to hang out with us and so we went on.

Down the line in middle school, one day at Zan-chan's she showed me Serebii and I went home and joined later that day. Time went on and I hung around on Serebii reading fics and writting my own. Zan later showed me CPTC on Serebii and i went to a few meetings and later joined PN i little bit after the site was made.

The History of Anduril and Lexite

One day, in 2002 or very early 2003, i posted in a topic and started a dialog with Syberia, later giving my AIM name. we talked for a little while and then stopped.

About a year later, in 2003 Serebii had its crash and i was not able to log back onto the forum. I finally made it back on under a differnt name this time, before being KBT Kyogre_Bird_Trainer, as _Bird_Trainer_Ulexite_, BTU. Time had passed and Anduril/Syberia went through his buddy list and came across my name. He IMed me to find out who i was around 2005 and we started talking and from there building our relationship that we have today.

It seems that I'm alwasy the person who has the least amount of public backstory. It's not that I don't want to share things, it's just that I don't really say stuff unless it's relevant. I suppose I'll start off with my joining of serebii three years ago, because anything before that is boring and doesn't need to be explained. I got a bit carried away, only the first two paragraphs are really relevant, but the other paraphs have some useful tidbits in them. Besides, now I can say that my backstory is semi-complete.

I came to SPP in early-middle 2004 from the Nsider forums through a link. I don't remember why or where I clicked the link, but after seeing this pokemon site full of information I had never imagined: Things like game mechanics, missing anime episodes, and battle strategies, etc. The site, anime episodes and FR/LG spoilers specifically, idled away my time for a while before I noticed the forum, that seemed to have more hands on help than the main site. I went into the GSC discussion because that was my favorite generation. I wasn't there long before I clicked a link in GoldenNoctowl77's signature to his story Apocalypse Rising, a story about a group of kids that overcome the devil. Since then he's written about four chapters and doesn't seem to write as well as I remember now that I've had a lot of experience in critique. Anyway I was instantly hooked. After that I started looking at other fanfiction, including some of Breezy's, IceKing's, and Chibi Pika's, among others.

But I did not join until late summer. I'm a very shy person when it comes to something new. It took my mom to convince me to stop simply reading stories and start inputing some of my own ideas to finally get me to join. I joined SPPf on August 14, 2004. I timed my joining date so that I could post about a month after the previous post in GoldenNoctowl's story so that it wouldn't get deleted. Ah, good times. So I stayed in the fanfiction section for a while. About a half a month after I joined, I read Spectreon's and Azureflygon's Dawn of a New Legacy. It was the most captivating story I had read at the time, and the creator Spectreon (who we know as Bex here) seemed like a really cool person. But I was shy, and didn't feel like making contact. I'm not even sure if I commented in the story's topic. So I took a look at some of her posts, and even the forum in her signature, Insanity Forums, but being the shy person that I am, I didn't speak to her or join the forum because I didn't want to come off as a stalker and I was too afraid to join a new forum.

It took me about two months and a new Insanity to finally join the forum. I was getting comfortable with discussing things in the Miscellaneous forum of Serebii. I swallowed my fear and joined Insanity 2.0. In the first day I think I got a PM greeting from both Spex and Psi. And I remember replying to Psi with something funny, but I don't remember what it was. Maybe he does, but I doubt it. For two glorious years, Insanity kept me coming back to the computer. The first six months were especially interesting, because the six main members, Spectreon, Isis, JLX, Umbreon_07, Darkspoon, I, and the occasional other member all seemed to bounce posts off each other. Sometimes I didn't want to leave the screen. Postcount mattered. One day, Darkspoon got 61 posts, and I coudn't do anything about it because my dad made me do chores that day. angry.gif After that the forum just seemed to slow down, and key members left, including the admins. But, that's the normal way of a forum. It either slows down and dies after a few months, or it grows. It was amazing how long it lasted, actually.

Those two years were some of the most influential in my life. Insanity was a huge contributor to the person I am now, both online and off. And while I don't want this to turn into a post about how awesome it was, I think that saying really helps me for nostalgia sake.

Anyway, for two years I stood by insanity and tried to help it though the hard times. I think Darkspoon did as well, in his own way. After about a year and half, Spex returned and I modded along with Magna and Articuno. This was a little after my gaining modship at the Anti-Noob Annihilation Leauge(ANAL), making me a moderator at all the small forums I've joined and was serious about. About a week after modship, trouble happened. Darkspoon was banned and he started trolling with multiple accounts. When it was all over, Darkspoon walked away with his member status still intact, and Articuno left, saying that she couldn't take it anymore. Psi and I convinced her to come back, but eventually she left anyway for the same reason as before.

The beginning of the 2006 school year brought with it the downfall of both Insanity and ANAL, the two small forums I was most connected to at the time. ANAL was questioning its purpose, and decided to make a new forum, Revanity, did not work out at all. Insanity was deleted. It still baffles me how it happened. I worked fast to track down all the members that had been active at the time of its death. I managed to find half of the members on a small Sacramento area real life friends forum called Shining Randomness. I informed them of the situation and it occupied my time until I could get in touch with the Insanity admins. After three months I finally got in touch with Isis, who helped me start Insanity 3, but it was a dud. It died in less than a month and I announced its death with a public speech.

A few months later Psiumbreon got a promotion at SPPf and I decided to look at his new overlook area. I noticed that there was a link in his sig that looked suspiciously like a clan or forum title. I clicked it and wound up here. After seeing that this place had people that I already seemed to know, I decided to join.

Well that sounded more like a badly done summary of three years in my biography than something that should have been shorter and more to the point. But looking over it, there is a long list of things that had to happen in order for me to be here. If I hadn't gone to Nsider I wouldn't have found serebii. If I hadn't found GoldenNoctowl's story I wouldn't have hung around the fanfiction section and joined serebii. If I hadn't read Dawn of a New Legacy I wouldn't have joined Insanity and I wouldn't be here right now. Almost everything that happened in the first two paragraphs was a necessary step to where I am and who I am now. I don't know about you peoples, but I find it incredible.

This is such a interesting thread--I've been reading this for the past ten minutes.

Everyone has pretty much confirmed the basic history, but I guess I'll throw in my ten cents.

I found out about the organization from day one, when SantaMonicaMatt posted about it on Serebii, and the meetup place was only ten minutes away from home, so I decided to show up. I was a bit nervous, because I'd been pounded over the head so many times about the dangers of meeting people ver the internet.

When I showed up, everyone looked normal, like people I'd know from my school, and so on forth. So I went over and joined in, although I felt quite nervoud and awkward at first because I was deaf, and my speaking skills were (and still are) rudimentary at best. But Chris approached me, and was very friendly, showing me his mad origami skills and Sonic comic book drawings, which was an icebreaker. Soon, writing on paper felt pretty normal.

I was about sixteen at the time, and now I'm nineteen. I've changed a lot, matured, but I still am very glad I met everyone--it was great to befriend guys out of the blue like that, since I had a very sketchy history with people of the male perusasion (I used to be afraid of guys, which strikes me as very funny now looking back, because now my best friend is a guy, my social circle has a lot of fairy guys, and so on forth). That shows my immaturity, but I think it's great that I can admit that now, being three years older with more perspecive. You all may be smelly hairy icky boys, but I still wub you all the same.

Being the original token female had it problems, though--as cool as it was, there was the obvious issue of crushes happening, which sometimes made it awkward. There was a lot of guilt on my part, because at that age (sixteen) I was also beginning to realize I was attracted to other girls, but everyone in the group was so supportive of it--that has helped me in more ways than you imagine.

One interesting thing that has been pointed out to me---if you passed me on the street, you probably wouldn't peg me as a Pokemon nerd. You'd probably think, "Oh, it's a bimbo with paint on her jeans! She must be real artsy! Pretentious liberal hippie, she probably doesn't even know what a Smeargle is."

But yes, I'm as geeky as anyone here, and my having boobs makes no difference. Zanney and Lexite have joined the ranks now, so I'm no longer the token female, but I'm still glad I was the first.

I may not be able to show up at events anymore, due to my newly christened status as an art student attending college in San Francisco, but I still feel as much a member of this group as I was from day one, and I will be active here until the group disbands (hopefully not for a long, long, long time.

I'm going to list some of my favorite memories from the CPTC:

- Greg's birthday party, and whaling away at the Pikachu pinata.

- The party at Frank's house

- My 18th birthday party, although that wasn't a CPTC-exclusive event; but I still mention it because Mike, Greg, Greg's sister, Zanney, Chris, and Lexite came.

- The guys at Greg's birthday party wrestling in the dirt over a Gameboy RPG game that I'd offered for free (it was Lunar Legend, I believe.)

- Beating Mike for the first and only by an incredibly idiotic accident (accidentally commanded T-bolt on his Dugtrio but he switched to Skarmory--my mistaken attack was totally unpredicted).

-Watching my friend Gio and Chris talk about perverted Pokemon and Japan, complete with X-rated drawings on my notebook paper.

1... 2... 3...

AWWWWWWWWWW!

Time for some warm fuzzy moments:

@ Mikeh ~> Wow, the things you said about me were so sweet. *glomp-o-gram* I'm glad that I was able to become an important part of Pokemon Nation.

By the way, you left out the other, more hilarious names we could choose from when we voted on the "subtitle" of the site. (My personal fave was "the Dangerous Styli" LMAO!!)

@ Lexite & Anduril ~> Yeah. We were the only girls in the Pokemon Club in 5th grade. Good times... We used to scare that one kid by doing impressions of Togepi and Mew. ROFL

Oh, and good call on the Bidoof picture. I loled so much. icon_xd.gif

You guys are all great people, and I'm really glad to have met/semi met you all.

I only wish I could stick around more often, like old times.
But things for me got difficult.

I used to be around more often, that was until I was hired at UniversalStudios Hollywood. I believe it was because of that, I started to not be around much. I was a mini mod at WobbaBoba (and still am), it was going well, until I left to work at Universal. That's when people started to abandon WobbaBoba, it happened the moment I left.
I feel like I'm that missing link that everyone there needed, and Petite, "the captain that abandoned ship" just let it crumble.

I agree with Gardevoir94, she should have been promoted by Petite, after all, she pretty much knew how to Moderate. I even told her that it was alright for her to take my place for a wile.
But Petite obviously didn't see what I saw in Gardevoir94.

I knew something like that would happen, after all at that forum, the members there always depended on me for help, and/or team rating.

I'm also sorry that I'm unable to be here at this forum more often. If it where up to me, I'd be here every day, like BKK.

This seriously hurts me a lot.
