'Tree. Wood. Dirt. Leaves. Dead leaves, live leaves...interesting. Grass. Tall grass, short grass, dead grass. Bugs, birds, bird poop. Smelly, but interesting.'

Thoughts raced like the waters of a river through Tank's head as he made his way through the grass. The smells his nose picked up led him from place to place, the more interesting ones taking control. He ran into trees several times, his nose planted firmly to the ground, following the scents. He finally found one that led to a spot near the biggest tree he could find, and collapsed into the shade beneath it, panting.

'Big tree. Old. Shade. Good. Hot. Cool grass. Grasshoppers. Chase them? Chase them later. Nap now.'

Tank rolled onto his back and made sure that he was covered in the scent of the grass, a comfortable scent, and he trotted over to the tree trunk. He turned in a circle a few times, and lay down.

The big husky-mix moved idly through the tall bushes untill... prey. A worthy foe, he figured. Maybe it was the wolf's blood in him, but suddenly he dropped down, eyeing the vulnerable thing not far off. He slowly crept forward, stalking. He paused as it stirred, the muscles in his long legs tensing up. But they soon relaxed. A smile came to his creme colored maw. Perfect.

He leaped, legs coming crashing down to the ground. His head shot up, following the flapping of tiny yellow wings as the butterfly fluttered off carelessly. He lept up, the full length of his big body coming into veiw, but missed. Sitting on the ground, he put his head on his massive paws. They were about the only feature on him that connected him to his wolf-blood.

His red-cream husky coloration made him fit in well with the dogs back home, though most of them knew his true blood.

That was when he saw the sleeping dog beneath the tree. He stood, going a little closer to him, and gave a friendly bark, tail waggin.

At the sound of the bark that came from not too far away, Tank jolted awake. He glanced around quickly, and stood up. He caught the scent, and his gaze followed it to the red and cream colored....dog? He looked like a dog, but not quite. Probably a mix. Yeah. That must be it.

Tank trotted over to where the other dog stood, and grinned. He seemed friendly. He was bigger than Tank, but most were. After all, the bull mastiff was still young. He'd grow into his paws soon enough. His tail began to wag, as he regarded the newcomer. Maybe he wanted to play!

"Hey there. I'm Tank. Who're you?" he asked, grinning energetically.

Russo looked at the young mastiff, who seemed quite energetic by his reaction to Russo. “My name is Scarlet Russo,” he said, his creamy tail waving back and forth gently above his back. It was then that he glanced around, almost suspiciously. The stranger, Tank, seemed nice enough. Russo didn’t see why he shouldn’t talk to him. But Russo still had a little hesitation.

It was also then that he realized he shouldn’t have woken him. And now that he’d done it, it wasn’t as though he could apologize for it. He’d done it on purpose. “So, do you live around here?” he asked. “I’m pretty new around here, but the city seems nice enough. I’ve heard there’re lots of dogs and…” he stopped, realizing he was rambling.

His ears flicked slightly, shooing an insect that had possibly landed there. His eyes darted behind Tank, watching as the butterfly he’d seen earlier floated by, wings flapping softly. His legs tensed, his focus instantly captivated by the fluttering target.

“My name is Scarlet Russo,”

Tank grinned and stood up, his tail wagging enthusiastically. He'd made a new friend!

"Oooh. Scarlet Russo. That's nice. I like it. It's....long. That's good, right?" he asked.

He sniffed the air, and was greeted by the scent of the forest, the stream, the grass, Scarlet, of course, and of many other things to smell.

“So, do you live around here? I’m pretty new around here, but the city seems nice enough. I’ve heard there’re lots of dogs and…”

"Me? Live here? Oh no. I'm just wandering, and came upon a nice place to nap. What with the shade, and warm grass, and nice sounds, and smells." he said.

He watched as Russo's attention was stolen by a butterfly flitting about. His own attention was grabbed as well.

"Chase...." he whispered, more to himself than anyone in particular.
