Just an idea, but I already started on it a while ago. I wanted something simple to use to help me learn the new UEd, and so I decided to remake the mansion from the Gamecube version of Resident Evil (in a future theme so as to avoid needing custom textures/meshes). It's currently unfinished, but if you guys think it's a good idea I can get to work on finishing it up. To get it really ready for release I would need some custom meshes at least, but that depends on if you think we should completely remake it or just use the layout. Of course I cut out some rooms to improve game flow, mostly the dead-end ones, and you can't get to any building other than the mansion, but I think it will play alright. Tell me what you think!

Not presently, the map is on my PC in Virginia and I'm in Jersey with only my laptop right now. I'll get some online as soon as I can (I'll be returning to VA on the 7th, so possibly that night sometime). As I said, I don't mind leaving it unfinished as it was intended as only a learning exercise, but if you guys like the idea it's not a problem to finish either.

Here is the map I used as reference for the mansion's layout:

I don't know if that really helps much, I'll have screens of what I did so far as soon as I can. Again, I cut out most of the dead-end rooms and the entire third floor to improve game flow.

Zombies would be fun. If you want, we could model one or two out and I can have them do a little dancing animation.

so we can have a room or two with dancing zombies. Maybe one with two of them doing a slow dance, and another one with breakdancing zombies.

Zombies are doable, dancing or otherwise. I guess it would depend on the mood we wanted to set in the map. If we want it to be more upbeat, dancing zombies would be a great addition. If we decide to aim for a horror-esque feel, I could program the zombies to behave as bots and attack player with some form of melee attack or something (I saw this done in a UT2004 once). It's really you guys' call.

I think it might be fun to add in the dancing zombies for the WTF factor, simply because I love doing unpredictable like that (For instance, For my Advanced Survey of Computer Art and Applications final, I stuck in a picture of Cthulu as an easter egg for my Website.)

Though if we do decide on the route that stays true to form, We can work it in. It'll still provide shock factor when the PC turns a corner only to be assaulted by a horde of slow-moving zombies, which is totally fine in my book.

Though I still prefer the dancing because it's silly.

No problem with being silly, the players could use a good laugh. I'd like the opinions of some other people before we decide though (hint hint other people).

Cthulu = awesome. Awesome easter egg.

Why can't we have both deadly zombies and happy zombies? Put deadly zombies in say...... the place we first saw a zombie, yeah you know the one. We could put the dancing zombies in a dead end room, such as the closet or one of the old save rooms. That way we could mix zany and scary in a cleverish way.

How far in is the mansion level? Because if its early on, then I can just go to it (I just started the GC version lol) and see the map.

You start in the mansion tongue.gif but you won't unlock the entire thing for a while. Still, it's a great game, I recommend you finish it either way.

Resident Evil=A damn good game! Never played REmake but from what I saw it looked pretty true to the original. As for out of the box thinking, my brains been outta my head for awhile now so it isnt too hard.

Final tip for those seeking a good time, once you beat RE1 play RE2, by far the best RE of the series and personally one of my favorite games ever.

I've heard you say that. I've played but never beaten 2 or 3, but from what I did do in them they were excellent. Anyhow, REmake and 0 are totally worth playing, and you can get a Gamecube for like $20 now, so there's really no reason not to play them.

As for the map, I'll be back in VA at my PC tomorrow, so I will be uploading screenshots of what I have at that time. Keep an eye out for them.
