Title: The Horus Heresy Thread
Description: Spoilers running rampant...

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 12:39 AM (GMT)
So I just finished the latest book, The First Heretic...

Stupid Word Bearers, messing it up for everyone...

nog3 - January 3, 2011 01:23 AM (GMT)
I've only read a few so far, but it's interesting how well they slot together.

RIP Loken

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 02:01 AM (GMT)
Loken is one of the Lupercal right?

Its been a long time since I powered through the first couple of books.
Fulgrim was depressing.
Legion was awesome.
Nemesis was tedious until the end.

Erebus is a total dick.

Well the current assumption is that he died when they virusbombed Istaan IV.

I still need to read the rest of the books though, so I could be wrong.

Loken survived the Virus Bombing. This is why there was 21 days of inter-legionary fighting on Istvaan IV.

Dan Abnett himself said that Loken would be making a re-appearance in an Interview about Legion, that was published in White Dwarf

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 04:07 AM (GMT)
Oh Oh...who was the dreadnaught that was stuck on the surface watching everything go to shit? Didnt he get buried alive?

Stormchaser - January 3, 2011 04:12 AM (GMT)
I can't remember. Although, if memory serves, there were two, both Emperor's Children. One had a crack in his sarcophagus (sp?) and his fleshy remained got nommed by the virus, and other one stood on top of a mount of rubble, struck a suitably heroic pose, then face palmed.

I'm sure that's what happened ;)

nog3 - January 3, 2011 04:41 AM (GMT)
And then the Emperor started shouting "EREBUUUUUUS" ala Kirk and Khan.

Because it really was his fault.

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 04:56 AM (GMT)
To be far Kor Phaeron helped. Not to mention Argel Tal cutting shit up in the secret lab...

Erus - January 3, 2011 05:05 AM (GMT)
Dreadnought is Ancient Rylanor... The Marine, I believe, was Saul Tarvitz... Possibly?

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 08:05 PM (GMT)
Rylanor epic facepalm.

Saul Tarvits refuses to let them win but gets backstabbed but that one asshat who wants to be in the cool kids club...

I raged when I read that bit. But I did kinda see it coming.

Anggul - January 3, 2011 09:18 PM (GMT)
I lol'd at Eldrad's facepalm when Fulgrim was like: What's a chaos god?

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 09:35 PM (GMT)
I like post Istvaan when Horus is content to let a demon walk around in his brothers skin but vows to 'free his brother' meanwhile he just systematically killed 3 of his brothers and is intent on killing his dad...

Johnnystump - January 3, 2011 10:02 PM (GMT)
I'm in the process of reading 'prospero burns' and I will way it's a bit of a hard read if you are not a space wolves fan.. But it is written by Dan abnett so it's good.

P.S. I just ordered the Deathwatch core rulebook today.

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 10:54 PM (GMT)
Crap I skipped right over that one read nemisis and the first heretic out of order

Now I have to hit a bookstore on the way home and hope they have it...

Johnnystump - January 3, 2011 10:58 PM (GMT)
The right order is nemesis, first heretic, and then prospero burns. Here is the complete order:

Horus rising
False gods
Galaxy in flames
The flight of the eisenstein
Fulgrim
Descent of angels
Legion
Battle for the abyss
Mechanicum
Tales of heresy
Fallen angels
A thousand sons
Nemesis
The first heretic
Prospero burns

SCHRAMB0 - January 3, 2011 11:17 PM (GMT)
Weird, there was list on amazon that listed Prospero before Nemesis.

In any case I will get it on the way home and read and build, and build and read.

Johnnystump - January 3, 2011 11:41 PM (GMT)
I know the feeling SCHRAMB0 I know the feeling....lol

Djinn - January 4, 2011 02:40 AM (GMT)
Prospero Burns and A thousand Sons cover the same events. One is from the viewpoint of The Thousand Sons, the other is from the viewpoint of the Space Wolves.

Both are incredibly awesome. But since they are more or less the same book from different angles, I'd say they go back to back in the order.

SCHRAMB0 - January 4, 2011 03:50 AM (GMT)
Prospero in hand, and Blood Pact cause gaunts ghost is fapfapfapfap...

ragnar blackmane - January 4, 2011 06:15 AM (GMT)
wait. before I read anythign else in here.

are these books about the Heresy itself?

ie: the way it was printed in the old WD mags?

The emperor and Sanguinous take on Horus? (there used to be a bad ass statue plus scenery you could paint) user posted imageuser posted image

thats the story I want to read.

SCHRAMB0 - January 4, 2011 07:28 AM (GMT)
Its a bunch of seperate stories about the going ons of all the different parallel stories from the start of the great crusade (and some of the unification wars) to all the backstabbings and rise and fall of the Imperial Truth and the rise of the Imperial Faith.
They still have barely touched on the 2 purged chapters (the 2nd and 11th).
But they go over how the corruption of Horus goes down, and how the emperor created the Primarchs and all kinds of goodness.

Bottom Line: Read the Horus Heresy in its entirety.

Reatrea - January 4, 2011 09:33 AM (GMT)
OMG is that an Emperor figure??

Johnnystump - January 4, 2011 01:02 PM (GMT)
thats one thing that has been make me go HUH is that they keep hinting that something extremely horrible happened to the 2nd and 11th legions. They made a lot of mentions to it in The First Heretic..

ragnar blackmane - January 4, 2011 03:03 PM (GMT)
yes, its an emperor figure

pablofiasco - January 4, 2011 03:16 PM (GMT)
screw the emp fig, i want that dead sanguinius figure,
turn that sucker into an objective point, use it to anger the 2 semi-local blood angels players
