Got a major urge the other day to want to start making the Capture Trooper from Killzone 3, Most of the outfit will be done with EVA Foam for the armor, but I'll be scratchbuilding the wrist weapon using dowel rod, MDF, and copper wire. The helmet is still being figured out but I might be paying a 3D modeller to make a 3D file of the helmet so I can make a pepakura file of it.
So far I've built the sholder/bicep pieces, the forearm piece, and the shins tomarrow I'll build the thighs.
I'll be finishing and wearing this for D*C this year.

I know I'm stuck on one thing for this, the Wrist Weapon. I already have a plan for how I want to build it I just wonder if there's some kind of servo I could use to extend the blade (which since this will be for conventions) the blade will not be sharp, but will be hidden except for when someone wants to take a photo.

I had been looking at those cheap plastic wolverine claws they used to see at the toy store. You would "extend" the claw by flicking the wrist down and then "retract" them by pushing them back in place...

Seems like a fairly simple way of doing it.

Or you could look at how they make the assaians creed wrist blades, I know there are a number of threads about people making those on the RPF.

Hmm good idea on the Assassin Creed Wrist blade, I'll take a look into the Wolverine thing as well, but with this blade being only one, the AC blade should work better.

I wouldn't have believed that piece of art is from Killzone 3 if you hadn't told me...Cool concept, though :)

Got a bit more done, just have the Codpiece, and the Chest Plating left to do. Also have a friend doing a 3D Model of the Helmet so I can build it out of pep. Just so people know some pieces like the thigh may not look right but that's just because of the not so level surface, and the angle of the photo.

Here's the most recent photo of the progress, also I figured out how to make the blade work, I'm going to use a R/C Car Motor and Wheels, it will be under the blade with the R/C Control which I plan to take it apart and since it will be one of those ones that have a sort of gun trigger it will be perfect to incorperate into the weapon.
The wheels will basically be up against the bottom of the blade with a stopper on the back of the blade so that the wheels of the R/C will push out and pull in the blade. I'll just have to make sure I get everthing a tight fit so the blade does'nt go sliding out or anything. Hoping I'll have the weapon done this week and I might even do a Youtube vid of it in action
I still have to make the side detail pieces for the abs and I'm thinking of using grommets painted white for the little circular details on the shins, thighs, and ab sides.
The helmet is the only piece I'll be spending the most time on probably, the person I have doing the model of it will be working on it and getting it done this weekend and even though it's costing me 100 to get done I know he will do a great job. Then I just have to build the damn thing out of foam after I edit the 3D model probably to be low poly but easy to convert to foam templates.

Been a while since I've updated this but here goes. Almost done, going to have to find someone to do the pouches and neckseal for me though.

Solid build. Good luck in the contest.

The helmet files are in one of my photos in the Pepakura folder of my gallery. Both the concept helmet and game helmet are there. All I'm left with that I'm considering ordering are those one way glo-spex glasses if I can get them in time and remove the frame somehow.

Looks good Vagabond. Helmet is drool-worthy indeed.

Also, if you're talking about the link in your signature.... it's says it's not published. Just FYI
