Full Name: Lily Evans Nickname: She is commonly referred to as Lil, or Lils by her friends, or fellow Gryffindors. However, Evans has also been known to be used by her acquaintances, whether or not she would answer to them is an entirely different question. Age: 16 Year: 6th House: Gryffindor Blood Type: Muggle Born
Physical Description: Although not a typical definition of classical beauty, Lily never the less seems to both captivate and intrigue. Her thick red locks of hair are as fiery in color as her personality. The soft tendrils fall midway down her back, and tauntingly sway to and fro as she navigates through the corridors between her classes, much to the girls’ disdain and the boys’ pleasure. Most often, while hunched over a cauldron, the menacing tresses shield the startling color of her emerald hued eyes. Exotic in nature and almond shaped, they can almost always be holding a mischievous gleam, though very rarely at anyone’s expense. Lily since childhood, has always been a source of laughter, however her sparkling smile did not come at a small price. Throughout her childhood she had been equipped with an array of braces and retainers, all promising to perfect her set of pearly whites, much to the girl’s displeasure. In the end, it did pay off, and perhaps can be attributed as to why she appears so photogenic in the majority of her photographs. Although not vain in nature, Lily can’t help but every so often, slick a daring red coat of varnish over her lips, although as of late, it seems to have been a perfectly good waste of makeup.
Disappointingly to some, her curves are often left concealed under the unimaginative Hogwarts standard issue robes. She is far from lithe, and instead possesses an admirable form. Her stomach is not taut, but is flat. A small birthmark is concealed on the inner thigh of her long supple legs. By looking at her you wouldn’t be able to tell, but she has an appetite that could rival those on the quidditch team. She does not hesitate to spread a thick layer of butter on her morning bagel, as she flips through the daily prophet.
Although far from perfect, it is the little things that makes Lily truly beautiful; the way she looks when she wakes up in the morning, the way she squints when she is reading a textbook, the dusting of freckles over the bridge of her nose, and how when she smiles, you smile back.
After all of that, who needs perfection?
Personality Lily’s wit is a match for her beauty. Most often, she can be found hunched over a cauldron, deep in the labyrinth of the dungeons, while her friends lounge about the common room. Her passion is contained in the many bottles and jars that line the dusty shelves of the storage room, male or female, she was one of the top Potions students, if not the best. Sadly, her aptitude for her favorite subject did not transcend itself towards Artihmancy, as she was ghastly when it came to numbers.
Grades aside, it was both her passion and dedication that earned her the position of Prefect, a duty according to some, which she takes far too seriously. Genuinely, Lily is not an ice queen in nature. Instead she merely possesses a cool disposition to those who take joy in the pain of others, namely James Potter, and his little brigade. Like most girls her age, at times, she has fallen victim to such masculine wiles, including that horrible mop of black hair.
She also has a soft spot in her heart for those, who at one time or another in their lives, have been neglected. This seems especially true in regards to Severus Snape. Although condescending and ungrateful, Lily has selflessly rushed to his rescue in any time of need. Stemming from several childhood incidents, involving her sister Petunia, Lily has always found herself defending the underdog, no matter how unfavorable the conditions.
It is such passion that has sometimes spurned her. Lily is not the type of girl to keep you guessing. She will tell you exactly what she thinks. Her surly temper, and blunt opinions have sometimes made her dorm mates take cover in the sanctum of their four poster beds.
As quick as she is to lash out, she is also as fast to grow attached to someone. Although she has never been in a ‘formal’ relationship, Lily has always desired the romance that she read about in her cliché, dog-eared love stories. Sadly, between her duties as prefect, and her studies, she hasn’t found much time for boys. Instead, she seems relatively content, busying herself with academia and extracurriculars.
What she doesn’t know is, that façade isn’t fooling anyone.
History It was a surprise to everyone in the Evan’s household, when a rather scrawny owl came pecking at their window. Unfortunately, the window happened to be Petunia’s, and it sent her into a series of shrieks and howls, that thankfully didn’t manage to wake the rest of the neighborhood. Her parents surprisingly, were thrilled to discover that one of their daughters was a witch. She was outfitted for school as lavishly as they could afford. She received a brand new school uniform, as well as a lovely set of Emerald colored dress robes.
It was a surprise to many when Lily was not sorted into Ravenclaw, and instead Gryffindor. She has always displayed a natural ability towards academics, and had been one of the top students in her muggle school. She was however not displeased at this fact, as according to “A History of Hogwarts,” several reputable wizards had graduated from her house. She could only thank Merlin that she hadn’t been sorted into Hufflepuff or Slytherin, as that would be one hundred times more awful than the most cruel of Bat Bogey Hexes.
Despite the resentment held towards her on her return visits to her parent’s house, Lily still maintains an astonishingly close bond with both her mother and her father. She writes letters to them weekly, using one of the school’s owls to make the difficult journey. It was still a surprise to see an owl perched on their windowsill, when in Lily’s fifth year she was proclaimed prefect.
Lily’s time spent at Hogwarts has been filled with both of joy and sadness. With only two years left at the castle, she can’t help but become lost in the childhood nostalgia of sneaking pastries from the kitchens, or running rampant in the corridors after curfew.
Despite all the current uncertainties in her life, one thing remains the same, there are many more memories to come.
