Just a note to people wanting to rehome a dog, there are lots of dogs passing through pounds all the time, here are links to the pounds that I feel are updated most often and have lots of dogs that need homed in them

Dogs alone - kennels are in the Nutts Corner area:

http://www.antrim.gov.uk/index.cfm/website...y/642/show/more

and Craigavon Area Pound:

http://www.craigavon.gov.uk/environment/eStrays.asp

there are lots more as well in the Dogs in Rescue section.

Due to a very genourous donation we have managed to arrange to take up to five dogs to rescue in the uk during the week from ni i understand that people cant take dogs in to there good for all sorts of resons but with over 24 salings a day to the uk please ask about for some one to take a dog over to the uk. As believe me it makes a huge difference and most rescues can arrange transport to pick up at the port so dog is only in the car for the crossing with people planning hols please keep this in mind

Sorry sometimes i do not explain my self to well... The five dogs are safe. There transportation has been arranged and paid for. What i was trying to say is ask about if anyone going to the uk could they give up a bit of car space to save a dogs life. With easter coming up and the summer hols i am sure we all know of someone going by boat. Pm me if you do and i can arrange rescue space in the uk thanks

A couple of very sad cases in Antrim Pound at the moment - found tied to a gate on a cold frosty night. The link for Antrim Dog Pound website is at the top of this thread in Mumof3's post.

If anyone is thinking of adopting a dog please do take a look as these wee guys really need someone to give them another chance in life. :(

Thanks so much for posting this! I'm on my way to pick up a wee water spaniel female in Portadown -- she's a bit worse for wear but I just know with some TLC from her new fosterer she'll be bright, beautiful and ready for that special forever home. If anyone knows any Irish Water Spaniel enthusiast send them my way.

:yay: That's fantastic alutasmommy. I love spaniels  .

Let us know how she gets on. It would be great to get some pics once she's settled with her fosterer. :thanks:

Oh Cathy! She's in such terrible shape. Bone skinny; mange; runny eyes. Poor girl. She must be a stone underweight. Fosterer backed out at last minute --she's in with a friend of mine tonight, meets with a potential forever tomorrow, but if that doesn't pan out she'll be with me for a spell. She's an absolute dote. I cannot believe someone allowed her to get to such a state.
I'd snap her up in an instant but hubby has put his size twelves down.

Have a photo taken today and will be taking more over the next few weeks to compare how she gets on. I will try to post the 'before' photo sometime tomorrow though. Too tired tonight.

First pic of the girl now called 'Lois' -- she's on her way to groomer today. I'll have another photo after that. Poor mite.

Oh goodness. Poor girl. :(

You can tell what a stunner she is going be once she gets back on her paws again but what she must have gone through doesn't bear thinking about. What sort of people are out there that can let a dog get into such a pitiful state.

You are an angel for rescuing this girl. Can't wait to see the 'after' pic of Lois when she gets back from the groomers. She won't know herself.

Thankyou alutasmommy for saving this wee sweetheart. :grovel:

Bad news. Not a groomer in the land will touch her! So no 'after' pic yet. She's scheduled tomorrow AM at the vets where she shall be put under and then shaved, cleaned somemore and examined some more. Meanwhile she's had a wee bath; and while she doesn't looks much different -- she surely smells a bit nicer! ;)
She is such a darling though. So far no accidents. She's eating well, her poos are solid -- so praise dog, she'll get through this rough patch swiftly and be her shining self.
I'm completely smitten.

Poor thing.
I hope it all goes well at the vets tomorrow for her.
Why won't the groomers touch her?

Yes, Carridog. Lois reminds me of Babes too.

She is looking much better already alutasmummy. You can tell what a lovely gentle personality she has just from the pic.

I tell you ladies, I am absolutely smitten with this girl. She's a dream dog. Everyone who meets her is taken by her. She's a long road ahead of her, but she is so, so worth it! I'll keep the pics coming.
Meanwhile whatever be-witchery you folks can muster to nudge my hubby in the direction of taking this girl on forever...... (looks like weeks and weeks of good cooking and gentle feminine persuasion on my part!)

Looks like there's a male Irish Water Spaniel in the Craigavon pound now... seems odd as they're not common dogs are they?

The pic of the one in the pound looks very like the girl who alutasmommy rescued. I wonder could it be the same girl but they have her down as male instead of female.
