Earth Sphere Union

The Earth Sphere Union abbreviated as the ESU, is the dominant hyperpower in the Earth Sphere. The ESU controls the former nations of the Atlantic Federation, the United States of South America, The Eurasian Federation, the Republic of East Asia, the Kingdom of Scandinavia, the North Equatorial Union, the Lunar Colonies, and the PLANTs. The ESU was officially formed on January 1st CE 80 after two years of negations between the former Earth Alliance and the PLANTS. The ESU was formed to help prevent the future outbreak of war and to try and establish unity among humanity.

The three main goals of the ESU are to:

1. Eradicate war through progressive disarmament and demilitarization of all factions.
2. To unite humanity under one political body.
3. To establish well being and unity among humanity.

The ESU is not a federation of several countries but a single governing body. This is because nationalism and territorialism are two contributing factors to warfare and separation. Because the ESU is a single nation there is only one military arm which is formally called the Earth Sphere Self Defense Forces but is informally referred to as the Peacekeeping Forces which is commonly abbreviated as the PKF.

The Earth Sphere Self Defense Forces---
The PKF’s duty is to ensure security within the ESU’s borders by suppressing and preventing insurrections and secession. The PKF also provides protection against the remaining two individual powers the Commonwealth of Orb, and the Martian Colonies. The PKF is more limited in its scope of actions than a regular army is. Peacekeeping Forces are required to strictly adhere to the rules of war. During peacetime assault operations cannot be conducted by the PKF without explicit approval of both the Security Council and the Secretary General which includes the individual subsequent assault operations that branch off. This soon proved to be a fatal decision as armed insurgency groups soon appeared and since they operate within the ESU’s territory elimination of these elements can only be classified as a police action at best.

HOLY---
To provide real time responsiveness a corps of a hundred elite pilots called HOLY was formed. HOLY pilots are a combination of elite natural and coordinator pilots who have been thoroughly tested and examined to ensure they hold the highest loyally toward the ESU and will seek to uphold and enforce the laws of the ESU Military to their death. HOLY pilots are in a way a combination of the former FAITH and Phantom Pain elements of ZAFT and OMNI Enforcer. HOLY pilots can authorize assault operations in the place of both the Security Council and the Secretary General and can even override the command structure of a regular army force taking control of the force as long as a general officer or a higher ranking HOLY member is not already in charge. HOLY members are tasked with the most dangerous missions which they can attempt solo or with a small HOLY unit, or they can enlist the aid of the PKF to provide assistance. HOLY is outfitted with the best equipment and it is mandatory for the PKF to provide supplies, manpower, or even mobile suits for HOLY personnel should they be requested.

The Earth Sphere Self Defense Force Independent Agent---
The only personnel in the PKF army who can circumvent the restrictions placed on the regular forces are the independent agents who receive their orders and report directly to the Security Council. These agents generally work solo to accomplish their missions or temporarily join with other PKF units. Unlike HOLY however these agents do not have the power to take control of PKF units without a written order from the Security Council or to authorize assault missions. They can however request for assistance from the PKF and it is obligatory for the PKF to resupply and repair their machines or to supply them with a machine should theirs become inoperable. Unlike the PKF however HOLY members do not have the authority to override the orders of a PKF Agent.

Rebels

Description

An alliance of several splattered radical groups and other forces under the banner of Richard Aller who for the most part is the only thing keeping some groups from killing each other completely. Besides that the rebels are run by a type of council, with each group offering their participation in a specific operation, or suggesting their own.

All bound by the promise of support after the ESU crumbles, Richard holds the money which makes the rebels tick along with the supplies for their outposts and such.

Structure

The ambiguous force of rebels is made up of radical groups that have been rounded up by Richard Aller. Those forces include, Blue Cosmos remnants, Children of Zala members, Gospel and any mercenary and PMC forces he could round up during the ESU's crackdown on the world. Along with special individuals that show they have something they could've provided for them.

This forms the core force of Richard's rebel force, others who have slowly come into the fold are ones not pleased with the ESU or how they control the world.

Commonwealth of Orb

Following the end of the battle of PLANT (In which Michael Kielty was praised as a hero by some for killing Angelis Karith) ORB grained new territories in which to expand themselves to become the Commonwealth. These territories which had no desire to join the upcoming ESU gathered all anti ESU citizens from their host nation and separated to join Orb. These include the nations in Oceania, Indonesia, The Hawaiian Islands, Philippines, Madagascar and Taiwan. However one ESU controlled base exists in these regions meaning the desire for it to become ORB territory is great.
Each of the new territories holds a military base which ORB calls the Delta Bases (e.g., Delta Micronesia, Delta Taiwan etc). These bases have been constructed to serve as defenses against possible enemy attacks. The Delta Bases are connected by a satellite communication network which passes information, orders and messages to each other or to other known ORB territories in Earth and Space. The Communication Network main Hub is located onboard the Space Fortress Cardinal.

Cardinal has now become a storage facility as well as a base. It stores the last remaining 100 Mobile Doll units known as Spartans. After the war ended Michael Kielty ordered these units be put on ice unless needed as a last resort weapon. Also stored in Cardinal is the MD program as well as the Steven Kielty A.I.

The D-16 have now disbanded and moved onto other careers. Their Leader James Kielty is now Captain of the Firestorm battleship and is married to fellow team mate Raquel and is the father of twins (a boy and a girl). Each D-16 member were allowed to keep their Mobile Suits as a memento.
With this new Commonwealth being forged Michael Kielty began work into a new form of Mobile Suits. The M1 Astray units were replaced by the new Raven class suits which alongside the Murasame create the bulk of ORBs space and Earth force. The Terra M1s have also begun to be mass produced increasingly and serve as guards of the major bases and points in the Commonwealth Territories. Michael has also begun searching for new forms of Transformable Mobile Suits using the Murasame as a template he hopes to improve both the Commonwealth's and Earth's defense.
Finally the last ORB territory is Heliopolis Cluster, an area of space where five Colonies similar to the original Heliopolis are being constructed. So far two are complete with the last five coming along nicely.

Michael is determined for a new age of peace without weapons; however until then he keeps his eyes watched on the ESU and for any new enemies. Despite the ESU being as equal and respected as the Commonwealth he fears some amongst its members will desire a new war. Also he secretly does not trust the masked man known as Zero and is determined to learn who he is, if he can find him.


Also a new change being added is that for the most part batteries are getting tossed out the window for what we call miracle nukes.

Perpetuum nuclear fission reactor---

The Perpetuum nuclear fission reactor is a revolutionary breakthrough in military technology being a direct product of the joint natural and coordinator research teams that where assembled with the formation of the ESU. What makes this fission reactor so revolutionary is that it does not go critical even in the event of a direct reactor hit. The only product of the explosion is the radioactive materials themselves which in theory could serve as a dirty bomb. The downside to this reactor is that the system that prevents a nuclear explosion several cuts power production down to a third of that of a regular fission reactor. The ESU found that the benefit of the reactor far outweighed the cost and began producing the reactor en masse eventually swapping out all the battery units with the reactor. Because of its high production number and its overwhelming superiority to battery units the Perpetuum has managed to fall into the hands of both the rebels who assign it to elite squadrons and Orb who has the industrial capacity to begin equipping even their regular forces with the reactor.
