Following this brief message are the rules of New Destiny RPG. We highly encourage that you take the time to read through them and understand them as best as possible. By familiarizing yourself with our guidelines, you will not only help keep yourself and others out of unneeded trouble, but it will also help set a positive example for current members and new ones to come.
Sincerely,
The New Destiny Staff Team
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Global Forum Rules- Respect All Members: This is quite possibly the most important rule of the board. Respect towards your fellow members and Staff is the key foundation of the multilevel complex that is our board. With this rule, there are five subcategories to his rule.
- No Canon Characters!: This means that characters from the original Gundam Series are not allowed. We are playing a timeline/story that disregards their existence and any relativety to them will not be accepted.
- When you come to the role play, you are considered a “Newbie”: You are a "Newbie" regardless of your previous experiences and some people might not want to interact with your character because they have something planned. Do not butt in, it’s rather rude and ignorant. Slowly build your reputation on the forum, it will land you more important places in battles and such.
- Strictly NO Advertising Without Head Admin Permission!: You are not allowed to post a link to any site on ND without first requesting affiliation from the Head Admin (Tari) and he will get back to you as soon as he can.
- Do Not Beg: Ask nicely for help and wait patiently. People around the forum are usually nice and will help you as soon as they can. Begging tends to make people annoyed and dislike you.
No Flaming: The flaming of any member of the board, be it intentional or not, is a serious offense be them old or new. Anybody caught or reported to have flamed a member will receive a warning via Private Message from a Staff member for a first offense, a 1-3 day suspension for a second, and a ban lasting for a minimum of 6-7 days. Any repeated offenders afterward will result in a permanent ban.
Racism and Sexism Will Not Be Tolerated: Anyone found to be promoting Racism or Sexism, or publicly being Racist or Sexist on the forum themselves will be I.P. Banned and excused from the site. There are no exceptions to this rule. Promote racial harmony and good will to all members of the forum.
Staff: Be respectful of your Staff members and be courteous of their decisions. They are faced with the every day task of keeping the board in order as well as setting up new events. If you have a disagreement with a Staff member, speak to them via Private Message to try and come up with a peaceful solution to the problem. If that gets you nowhere, then please report it to another Staff member so we may hold a Staff session and come up with a conclusion ourselves, the result will then be Private Messaged to the offender. That being said, please take into account the following...
++Moderators: They may not be Admin, but the Moderators are still Staff members and are to be treated as so. If they have issued a warning, abide by it. The moderators are required to enforce the rules, and when they do, members are required to listen and abide.
++Administrators: The Admin's word is law, and direct violation of their ruling in any case will result in a suspension, with the length being determined by the Admin. Their rulings are "etched in stone" and cannot be overruled, even by Moderators. Admins also reserve the right to remove Out of Character posting abilities of members if they deem it suitable. Actions that would result in such a punishment include negative behavior towards the board; this negative behavior doesn't have to involve a rule being broken, if an admin feels your behavior is a negative towards the board, your Out of Character posting abilities will be taken away.
Arguments/Debates: Debates are welcomed amongst the board, but we would appreciate that you be courteous of your fellow members and move the debate to PM or an Instant Messenger if you feel it may become an argument. If a Staff member tells you to move your argument to PM or IM, then do so, a continued argument will result in a temporary (3-Day) suspension.
Instant Messengers & The Board: Due to an event of the past, the Staff have decided to make it clear that our power does NOT extend outside the boundaries of the board. Anything regarding an argument over an Instant Messenger with another member will be deleted and completely disregarded. Keep IM off the board unless you're for some reason giving your address out for everyone to add you.
- This Is A Literate Role-Playing Game: You are expected to be familiar with the basics of role play (RP) when you join our RPG. If you are unfamiliar with RPing, please ask another member or view this for reference.
- No Spamming: Spamming is very annoying and unnecessary to the board. As punishment for Spamming, the offender will be suggested to the Staff for a possible I.P. Ban of your account. Unneeded double posting will be counted towards a Spamming Offense.
Hotlinking: Taking images off of a webpage without first uploading it to an image hosting service is known as "Hotlinking" and is a direct violation of Copyright Law. This can be annoying in cases when sites block a visitors ability to Hotlink. So please, if you post an image, first upload it to an image hosting service like PhotoBucket or ImageShack.
Lifting: Lifting is the process of taking parts from a previous post in order to make yours look longer. Please, refrain from doing this. If you've gotten to the point of posting in Storyline/Battle Threads, then you've obviously got the skill to make your own posts, so take a chance to show off your creative ability. There is no punishment for lifting, but your post will be disregarded.
*Note: Quoting in General threads does NOT count as lifting.
- C-Box: The C-Box is a place for everyone to take time and relax from posting while still being able to interact with the other members of the board. The C-Box is to be treated with the same rules as the board (with the exception of Double Posting) and offenders will be dealt with accordingly.
- One Account Per Person: If you and a family member are on the same computer, please PM Tari or Kenji and inform them of the situation. Multiple accounts will be deleted if not done so. You are allowed as many characters as you can handle. You must also have a link to each character present in your signature.
Role Play Rules- No God-Modding: We have our weaknesses, so do our characters. There is no single all-powerful character in our story, everyone is an equal in some aspects. Just because someone is piloting a Gundam unit does not make them superior to a regular mobile suit. Remember: Athrun, Yzak, Lunamaria, Rey, and some others were able to push back the Earth Forces Gundam’s while trying to stop the PLANT from falling to Earth in GSD.
If you feel someone has been God-Modding, bring it to a staff member's attention, and it will be dealt with accordingly.
Respect Confidentiality: Please keep the knowledge of your character to that particular character. For example, ZAFT secrets that your ZAFT character knows should not and cannot be known by your Earth Alliance character. Although your characters are controlled by you, the likeliness that they are working together and on two different sides is completely unlikely.
- Character Death: Characters can die, believe it or not. Your character is human and therefore can die. However, one of two things have to happen.
One - Owner consent must be given.
Two - The character is put into a position where the only escape is death.
Note: If you are in a situation where you have been trapped into death, speak to a mod or admin and have them review it to let you know.
Either of the two options can be fulfilled and only one is needed. So play smart, and don't go blindly charging in with a beam saber, as there will be consequences.
- Character Relations: Relationships with existing characters is allowed with consent of the other user. A short message at the top of the bio should indicate that you have received the other user's permission.
- Explicit Content: Please respect the fact that some of us might be offended by such things. It can easily be looked over with a few simple words most of us may know by now.
Battle Rules- No God-Modding: See "No God-Modding"
- Be Realistic: Though we are fully aware that New Destiny RPG is a fictional word, please try and be realistic in battle. This rule can also play into the God-Modding Rule. No character on the board is unbeatable, we have our weaknesses and our strengths, and as so they can be exploited. So in order to make a battle proper, allow yourself to get hit from time to time, otherwise there would be no point in having the fight in the first place. This also applies to grunt “NPCs”.
- The 3-Day Rule: The story of ND is constantly told by the point-of-view of soldiers at war, so battles need to move smoothly and efficiently, leaving room for character development in between. The senior members of the forum know that the battles are some of the most important threads, and shouldn't be taken lightly. So after your opponents post in a battle you are allowed 3 days (72 hours) to make your next move. If you don't, then the hit will be counted as the Admins final word and the battle will move on; however, if you have a good reason as to why you will miss so much time, please PM an Admin ASAP.
- SEED Mode: (Posted Image)
SEED Mode is a special ability that is available to all races. SEED Mode can only be used after your bio has been approved for SEED Mode (Admin/Mod may already have the ability) by requesting the ability. Your character can achieve SEED Mode after meeting the following conditions in battle:
He or She has... - Reached a highly emotional state of mind
- Has gotten into a battle containing a large number of enemies as compared to them
- A mobile suit of theirs has been severely damaged and the only hope to survive is to "unlock some hidden strength"
*Conditions may be added with time*
Character RacesRaces: When applying for your character you are allowed to choose from a list of about 4 character races (5 if BCPU is taken into consideration), each with their own characteristics and skills. Normally, we would expect someone familiar with the races of the GS/GSD world, but we have put them here just in case.
Natural: A naturally born human being, who has not undergone the process of genetic enhancement that creates Coordinators. In the Cosmic Era, genetic engineering is also used to correct hereditary genetic defects, but people who have merely received this kind of corrective modification are considered to be Naturals rather than true Coordinators. For the most part Naturals regard Coordinators with envy and resentment, and these attitudes have led to widespread persecution - and, in some cases, radical anti-Coordinator activities like those of the terror group Blue Cosmos.
Natural/Enhanced Spatial Awareness: Spatial awareness is a well thought-out awareness of things in the space around us. It also deals with the awareness of our body's position in space. Indivduals who poesses a high level of spatial awarness are able to control remote weapons without the use of a quantum communications system and are able to sence other individuals with Enhanced spatial awarness that are within close proximity.. If we had to compare this to something to help you understand better, it would more than likely be the equivalent to Spider Man's "Spidey Sense".
Coordinator: A human being whose mental and physical abilities have been enhanced through genetic engineering. Coordinators learn more quickly than normal humans, and their bodies are stronger, faster, and virtually immune to disease. Due to these differences, they have often been viewed with jealousy and mistrust by unmodified Naturals. In recent decades, a worldwide ban on genetic modification and a rising tide of anti-Coordinator sentiment have driven most of Earth's Coordinators to relocate to the orbital settlements known as PLANTs.
The genetic modifications that create a Coordinator can be performed only in the earliest stages of embryonic development. However, these genetic enhancements are then passed on to the Coordinator's children. When normal parents have their children turned into Coordinators, the children are described as first-generation Coordinators, whose own children will then be second-generation Coordinators, and so forth.
The era of the Coordinators began in the year C.E. 15, when George Glenn revealed the secret of his origins and released the necessary genetic engineering techniques onto the worldwide network. However, such genetic modification remained illegal for many years, and so the earliest Coordinators were born and raised in secret. The Coordinator boom started in earnest in C.E. 30, and came to an end with the adoption of the Torino Protocol in C.E. 55, when genetic modification was once again prohibited everywhere on Earth.
Extended Human/BCPU:A type of artificially enhanced human developed by the Earth Alliance forces. Through surgery, doping, mental conditioning, and rigorous combat training, these Extendeds have been given fighting abilities comparable to those of genetically engineered Coordinators. Sting Oakley, Stella Loussier, and Auel Neider of Phantom Pain are products of this Extended program, as were the biological CPUs used in the first war between Earth and the PLANTs.
BCPU:A human being who has been artificially enhanced for the purpose of operating mobile suits. Although ordinary Naturals are unable to pilot mobile suits without the help of specially designed operating systems, these enhanced humans have abilities equal to or greater than those of a Coordinator. The Earth Alliance classifies them as equipment rather than pilots, and views them as human equivalents of a computer's central processing unit (CPU).
These biological CPUs have micro-implants surgically installed in their brains and glands, and they are mentally conditioned to eliminate their sense of fear and increase their aggression during combat. They are also given regular doses of Gamma Glipheptin to enhance their stamina and reaction speed, but they suffer agonizing withdrawal symptoms as the effects of the stimulant wear off, forcing them to withdraw from battle when their time limit expires.
First Stage: First Stage Extended humans had some biotechnological modification and were mentally conditioned to eliminate their sense of fear and increase aggression in combat; the subjects were mostly regular pilots who were given regular doses of the performance-enhancing drug Gamma Glipheptin. This drug had a negative effect on the pilots' mental stability and caused them to behave in undesirable ways during battle; it also had a very brief duration, and as the effect wore off it left the pilots incapacitated with severe withdrawal symptoms as their nervous systems began to collapse without regular doses. Their loyalty to the Earth Alliance was guaranteed by their addiction to Gamma Glipheptin. The first-stage test subjects were Shani Andras, Clotho Buer, and Orga Sabnak; all three were killed in battle during the closing stages of the Bloody Valentine War.
Second Stage: Second Stage Extended humans were physically and psychologically altered with heavy mental conditioning, performance-enhancing drugs, and extremely harsh combat training. They were more stable than first-stage Extendeds but required regular reconditioning, especially when their block words were used to force actions from them. They also required regular brain "maintenance" to keep them in a high-performance state and to erase any "undesirable" memories they might possess. Sting Oakley, Stella Loussier, and Auel Neider were second-stage Extended humans; all three died in combat throughout the course of the Second Bloody Valentine War. Auel perished at the hands of Shinn Asuka's ZGMF-X56S Impulse in a naval battle near Crete. Stella died after her GFAS-X1 Destroy was attacked by Kira Yamato's ZGMF-X10A Freedom in battle over Berlin. Sting was also piloting a Destroy when he was killed by Shinn's ZGMF-X42S Destiny in the battle for Heaven's Base. It should be noted that Phantom Pain pilot Sven Cal Bayan stated that Extendeds do not live very long.
