Note that sales of merchandise delivered to you must be delayed untill after hostilities are underway so as not to arouse suspicion of it’s procurement. Nightly raids by bands of “Royalist briggans” into Dutch territory will continue as planned and your assistance with the rumors of such raids can only serve the cause of the Republic and further the success of our venture. Exchange and delivery of payment is on schedual and please do not forget the six neclaces you purchaced from the Ottoman merchant. Regards, Marechal Sloop -------------------- ![]() |

Marechal Sloop,
A number of your dispatches were intercepted by my agents by mistake. All precautions are being implemented to prevent sensitive information from leaking to the enemy. After falling to the ground laughing at the first few dispatches, I was very troubled by the last one. Questionable activities are taking place under my nose and I have not recieved my cut yet. Keep thus private for now, we will discuss soon the price of my silence on the matter. Minister of war Marshal Von Clausewitz -------------------- ![]() |

I'm sad I though the the jewelled necklace of the Princess of Ghent was promised to me.
-------------------- ![]() Second-Lieutenant Lannes ran as fast as anybody until he suddenly stopped, out of range, apparently mortified that he was being a coward. Intent on making amends, he yelled to his comrades over the din of the Spanish guns. "Stop right now, godammit! Stop you a**eholes! We're going the wrong f**king way! Follow me!" |

DISPATCHES
II CORPS ----------------- To: Marshal Von Clausewitz I am unaware of the dispatches you have intercepted. It is of great concern to me that the Royalists have infiltrated our communications and forged these dispatches. Your humor is as always quite amusing, to suggest that I have illegal business dealings and that you would receive a portion of my profits is simply hilarious. Concerning a different subject, I believe the High Command made an error in the payroll for II Corps. A large excess was recently discovered and I am returning it, in cash, and enclosed with this dispatch. Respectfully, Marshal Sloop ---------------- To: Propriter l’Auberge Lille , Monsieur Jules Bonnot Jules, I have received your information on Dutch troop movements and positions. Although somewhat useful what concerns me more is the security and stores at the distillery in Westouter. Also, I need one more necklace. Good Luck. Marshal Sloop -------------------- ![]() |

Marechal Sloop,
I have recieved the reimbursment of the excess payment made to the second corps by the treasury. I expect this mistake to happen monthly, so I welcome your honesty in admitting such a mistake and reimbursing me the excess monthly. After re examining previous dispatches, they do indeed look like Royalist forgeries aimed at ruining your honorable reputation and trying to make you fall out of favor of the War Minister. I am happy this is now cleared up and your innocence of this matter proven. Marechal Von Clausewitz -------------------- ![]() |

Jules, As are the fortunes of war I have lost the present source of Dutch "supplies". And as are also the fortunes of war, in an effort to deny the enemy, I have had to confiscate all local French stores of wine and liquor as we retreated. Expect a large shipment soon and if all goes well I should have an opportunity to sample the stores of Bailleul as well. Regards, Marechal Sloop -------------------- ![]() |

To: Esteemed Marshal of the Empire VC,
As I am sure you have been informed, the Empereur has stationed me at the asylum at Charenton. In his brilliance he has assigned me command of a secret Corps that will soon invade England and my presence at Charenton is for security measures only. Thus said, and for the utmost secrecy, he has ordered me not to leave the premises and to follow the doctor's orders at all times. I will inform you of my master plan soon. On a personal note I must say that I miss my II Corps immensely and the food here is abysmal. I do enjoy the daily prescriptions of mercury and opium, however the bleeding and the leeches leave me a bit lightheaded. Fortunately the good doctor has assigned to me an assortment of nurses that are adequate for attending to my needs. I have also had the pleasure to make the acquaintance of Donatien Alphonse François the Marquis de Sade who has invited me to visit his accommodations here and promised to entertain me. I can only suppose that my assignment here will be enjoyable yet sobering. Your friend, Marshal Sloop -------------------- ![]() |
