Title: RUMOR: new 3DS model very likely to be at E3.
EggBeatr8 - May 31, 2012 06:40 PM (GMT)
http://kotaku.com/5914495/is-nintendo-plan...a-new-model-3ds Both the DSi and DSi XL have dropped prices significantly, which usually happens before a new model is released, and the Japanese Amazon site has mysteriously ran out of stock for the 3DS.
Coincidence, or is Nintendo planning something?

I actually wouldn't mind if this was the official name of the new model. It's better than the trolling "Lite" rumor that's been going around.

Agreed. ^^ + sounds better than another 'Lite'. However, I hope they have made something entirely different than those two.
Also, if they really DO show a new Model, their E3 might just be the biggest ever!
johnny139 - May 31, 2012 07:37 PM (GMT)
Can they really make it any "lite"-er than it already is?
Kaabisteru - May 31, 2012 08:23 PM (GMT)
If it has more features than our current 3DS...
*Ready to bomb Nintendo due wasting money on inferior console*
TheFreakyManga - May 31, 2012 08:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah I hope they don't upgrade it, I'd feel bad.
Moreover the system is out for only a year, give it a rest, it's fine as is.
toadster101 - May 31, 2012 09:13 PM (GMT)
I'm expecting a revision next year. It's too early.

But wasn't DS Lite revealed around this time in the DS's lifetime? :?

Though to be honest, the DS Phat really did need a makeover.

True. But I still love it. ^^ I still have my original DS, and part from a small scratch on the upper screen, it's as good as new.
Anyways, I don't really see what they could do with a new 3DS. They can't make it smaller, can they? :?
pikaby - May 31, 2012 11:40 PM (GMT)
Yeah, too early for it. Also the 3DS can't get any smaller; if they were going to make a revision it's going to be a little bigger to accommodate more stuff/longer battery life etc. And I don't think the extra circle pad will be integrated into the revision either, remain an accessory it shall.
EggBeatr8 - June 1, 2012 01:01 AM (GMT)
No one said it would be smaller. But a better battery life is always welcome.
DG - June 1, 2012 04:30 AM (GMT)
They should really integrate the circle pad.

The circle pad is only used in like 10 games, so I don't think Nintendo is going to make it a compulsory addition. Plus doing this would screw over everyone who bought the frankenstick add-on (personally I find no problem with it except that it uses a AAA battery)
DG - June 1, 2012 06:05 AM (GMT)
If you're going to make a new model so early, it should have improvements that matter. More consoles with circle pads means more games with circle pads. I wouldn't develop a game that needed that wonky add-on because then people would have to buy an extra thing just to play it. If its already built into the newer model, that's very different.
MasterofMonster - June 1, 2012 09:02 AM (GMT)
Let's see... excluding the other Circle Pad, what could Ninty possibly add to a new Model? It already have cameras. And 3D. And loads more stuff.
So... what? O__O"
TheFreakyManga - June 1, 2012 09:40 AM (GMT)
Better cameras. Better 3D. Better baterry life.
CRAZ1ah - June 1, 2012 09:43 AM (GMT)
I guess I'm going to wait for that.

But that's just some small improvements. Shouldn't a new model have something completely new, just to piss us early 'normal' 3DS owners off? O__O"

Yes, and they won't stop until the brightness melts everyone's eyes at first glance. Soon we will have no need for a sun in this world.
DG - June 1, 2012 02:32 PM (GMT)
Does the 3DS have a microphone? They could add that. And they could always add better wifi.

They already confused people with the jump to DS lite to DSi. Repeating the same mistake will just add more confusion and that never aided in selling portable systems (notice how every new DS model sold a little less than the last). I know some people who didn't even buy a DS, because they thought Nintendo would just make another updated version the next year with games that are not compatible with it.
pikaby - June 2, 2012 01:01 AM (GMT)
I don't think of DSiXL as a newer model, just a size option for those who think DSi is a little cramped.

Of course it does, otherwise it wouldn't be backwards compatible with any DS games.
DG - June 2, 2012 03:47 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, I forgot the DS had a mic :P
Sol Diviner - June 2, 2012 03:54 AM (GMT)
I'm expecting either a smaller model, a larger model, or a model that has a built in Circle Pad Pro.
DG - June 2, 2012 04:00 AM (GMT)
I really think the internal circle pad would be the best move.
toadster101 - June 2, 2012 05:21 AM (GMT)
A second circle pad is completely unnecessary, and will just divide the user base.
johnny139 - June 2, 2012 05:40 AM (GMT)
If it came with a pack-in Circle Pad though that'd be tops.
DG - June 2, 2012 06:50 AM (GMT)
I don't mean second, I mean first. Internal or pack in, that would actually be great too.
