Title: Wii U tech specs and release date speculation
pikaby - April 8, 2012 03:07 PM (GMT)
A release date has been pegged for the Wii U though no one knows whether it's true or not. November 18 this year.
..and what do you think of all the discussions on technical specs that's been surrounding Wii U since early this year? It seems to come from all degrees of power, from below X360/PS3 to above it and way beyond.
MasterofMonster - April 8, 2012 03:51 PM (GMT)
I think it's a possible and belivable release date. ^^ And i think the Wii-U will be more powerful that the other consoles. Not much, but still stronger~
johnny139 - April 8, 2012 04:31 PM (GMT)
I expect it in the ballpark of the PS3/360. Not leagues ahead but not far behind, either... otherwise they couldn't be porting these big name games.
TheFreakyManga - April 8, 2012 08:28 PM (GMT)
I hope it will be much much better, on par with the PS4 and the next XBOX so that it doesn't get shunned. Imagine: It would have not only the awesome 3rd party support of the Playstation and Xbox francise but also the AMAZING first party Nintendo games we all know and love.
...it probably won't be so powerful though.
toadfan64 - April 8, 2012 11:50 PM (GMT)
I just can't wait till the rumors are debunked about the Wii U being less powerful than the PS3/360. For me as long as it's a little step up from the PS3/360 I'll be happy and this next gen I don't really expect to see a crazy difference in power like this gen was, I expect it to be much closer, but I do expect the PS4 to be #1 in power with the Wii U and 720 close to one another.

Well considering all the third-party support it's getting that the Wii didn't I suppose it's specs are quite something. I can already picture how a Xenoblade sequel would look in HD... *pees his pants*

I'm already thinking about games like Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Star Fox, and F-Zero. >w<

I wish Nintendo would give a little more concern to power though, like they did in the GC and N64.
johnny139 - April 9, 2012 11:47 PM (GMT)
N64 and GCN - barely limped along
Wii - tremendous multimillion dollar success
Coincidence?

I'll agree with the GC there but N64 did way better than barely limping along.
GC just had sh*tty 3rd party just like the Wii expect not as bad.
Wii exceeded only because of gimmicks, while smart they were still gimmicks.

Woah, woah, woah, NO.
It did get the console support, gamers were just too hate biased of any game not M-rated to care. (Ironically, a lot of the third-party support it got were M-rated games)
pikaby - April 10, 2012 02:01 PM (GMT)
N64 did not do way better; it just has the high quality first-party titles and Goldeneye. Outside of its handful of major hits, it was a commercial flop because it was directly competing with PS1.
toadfan64 - April 10, 2012 04:29 PM (GMT)
I'm not saying the N64 did much better than the PS1 over but it's 1st party did.
Plus it had quite a few good 3rd party game whether they sold good or not.
toadster101 - April 10, 2012 09:17 PM (GMT)
As long as 1080p is standard, I don't care.
pikaby - April 11, 2012 02:03 PM (GMT)
I don't even have a HDTV so resolution matters little to me.
johnny139 - April 12, 2012 12:04 AM (GMT)
I think the Wii looks pretty good on my HDTV with the right cables.

So isn't there still another controller yet to be announced for the Wii U?

You mean a second pack-in or using more than one screen controller per console?

|
Yeah you know a controller that all 4 people playing can use.

Mine sure doesn't. Using the Dolphin Emulator, however, some Wii games look phenomenal in HD.
pikaby - April 13, 2012 02:14 PM (GMT)
I tried Dolphin before, it lags my laptop like bloody hell. Things look awesome, but anti-aliasing comes at a heavy power cost.
