Title: What are you reading?

DestinλGuy - September 21, 2011 02:20 AM (GMT)
Academically, Common Sense by Thomas Pain. Awesome essay, awesome person. I would be happy to discuss it with someone *coughJohnnycough*.
On my own time, a book called Reality is Broken. Anyone heard of it?
johnny139 - September 21, 2011 03:50 AM (GMT)
I can't stand reading any colonial-era writings; they're this weird grammatical mishmash of archaic high-mindedness that I frankly can't make heads or tails of. I'm trying to figure out some of Locke's stuff right now and it's like trying to read a book in Arabic. Utterly incomprehensible.
DestinλGuy - September 21, 2011 04:05 AM (GMT)
Yeah the language is weird. But the content of both those writers is just awesome.
toadster101 - September 21, 2011 04:16 AM (GMT)
Big fan of John Locke, for obvious reasons.
johnny139 - September 21, 2011 04:53 AM (GMT)
I'm more of a Federalist myself.
TheFreakyManga - September 21, 2011 12:37 PM (GMT)
As I said in the previous topic I'm reading 1984 by George Orwell.
EggBeatr8 - September 21, 2011 03:00 PM (GMT)
I don't read.
...well I guess I'm reading that Bill Cosby book.

Everybody and their mother has read that by now.
DestinλGuy - September 21, 2011 11:41 PM (GMT)
I actually don't think I've read that yet. Just Animal Farm.
johnny139 - September 22, 2011 01:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah I haven't ever read it either.
Or Animal Farm, I just saw the cartoon (which changed the ending I think).
DestinλGuy - September 22, 2011 04:59 AM (GMT)
Animal Farm is good, and its really really short.
CRAZ1ah - September 22, 2011 08:30 AM (GMT)
K-On Manga... if you would call that reading at all.

Yeah, you can definitely finish it in a day or two.
MasterofMonster - September 22, 2011 12:57 PM (GMT)

But i DO read lots of mangas, if that counts~
I'm reading Junjou Romantica, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, Naruto, Beelzebub, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, and some other~<3<3<3
toadster101 - September 22, 2011 01:29 PM (GMT)
Junjou Romantica, eh? Great Yaoi. The others are crap.

Indeed! ^^ I love Eragon. And i agree on that, but at least it's coming out near Christmas. :) can't wait~‹3
TheFreakyManga - September 22, 2011 02:45 PM (GMT)

I didn't know that thanks for the info.
Now I just have to read Brisingr again.
MasterofMonster - September 22, 2011 02:56 PM (GMT)
Oh, you're welcome. :) glad to be of use for once~‹3

A lot of plot twists in Eragon remind me of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings though.
On my novel list are:
"First Among Sequels" by Jasper Fforde
"Swords of Night and Day" by David Gemmell
On my manga list...
Too lazy to list. It's pretty much every series that's being published right now, and a few completed ones.
DestinλGuy - September 22, 2011 10:44 PM (GMT)
I am REALLY not an Eragon fan.
johnny139 - September 23, 2011 01:35 AM (GMT)

I finished up "On Monsters" today, it was pretty good. Next is... Empires of the Silk Road? Probably?
DestinλGuy - September 23, 2011 04:55 AM (GMT)
johnny139 - September 23, 2011 05:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah my books tend to be.
Very interesting though, there's far more depth to ancient Central Eurasia than I imagined.

That's true :P
Paolini might be an ass but I still like Eragon. :3
The movie SUCKED HARD
EggBeatr8 - September 23, 2011 01:18 PM (GMT)
I stopped reading Eragon after the first page. Why are so many words on just ONE page when the book is over 800 pages long?!? Well I didn't feel like going into the generic fantasy genre anyway.
Reading: Huckleberry Fin, the Abridged but not tampered with version.

What's wrong with you?
Crossburn - September 23, 2011 03:53 PM (GMT)
^ X2
Try reading the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin
EggBeatr8 - September 23, 2011 04:18 PM (GMT)
It's better late than never. I find Mark Twain's southern accent in every thing he writes to be both amusing and slightly confusing if you don't get what he was trying to imply, but I'm enjoying it.
And fantasy is all the same: dragons, more dragons, knights, captured princess, and...oh look, more dragons. I find most of it to predictable, so I don't bother finish reading the books. I'll give Game of Thorns a try though.
johnny139 - September 24, 2011 02:05 AM (GMT)
I'm not a big fan of high fantasy myself. I prefer urban fantasy; a mixture of darkness and whimsy.
ALSO: Tom Sawyer > Huck Finn.

YOU ARE AN INSUFFERABLE PRICK
Also I would read George RR Martin but I feel like to read that series I'd need to dedicate like ten years of my life.
MasterofMonster - September 24, 2011 01:45 PM (GMT)
For the first Time, i'm gonna read a Romance Manga that's NOT Yaoi. The reason? I've run out of Yaoi..
I've just started reading Houkago Orange, and it seems pretty good. Short guys are always Awesome in Manga (Fullmetal Alchemist ftw~)
:D
toadster101 - September 24, 2011 02:07 PM (GMT)
You should read a book with actual text. Come on, it's worth the effort.
MasterofMonster - September 24, 2011 02:11 PM (GMT)
I have! I've read all Harry Potter, and all Eragon Books (except for the last one, which will be released soon). I just like Manga better~<3
You read manga, too, right?~
toadster101 - September 24, 2011 02:16 PM (GMT)
Occasionally, although reading pictures isn't my cup of tea.
MasterofMonster - September 24, 2011 02:22 PM (GMT)
Well, each his own, of course. ^^ I just prefere actually Seeing what happens. I Love books, but Mangas are much more interesting in my opinion~
Still can't wait for the last Eragon, though~<3<3<3
TheFreakyManga - September 24, 2011 02:41 PM (GMT)
I've read all of the Harry Potter books at least 3 times each. They are a very HUGE part of my childhood.
