Aim to Be a Pokémon Master!, Cabot's Journey

Cabot walked along the sand. "Sure is hot, here." He said, to no one in particular. "Hotter than home. Better get inside before the heat is too much to bear..."

Cabot sprinted the rest of the way to Midamis Center. He quickly found the Pokémon Laboratory where he could get his first Pokémon.

"Hello, Professor?" He said as he entered. "I'm here to get a Pokémon! Do you have any Florcoon left?"

"Yeah, yeah," A voice came from a room stuffed with boxes and books, "Give me a second."
Cabot was met with a disheveled Professor Rue holding three Pokéballs. "Take one and get out of here. I have a lot more important things to do." It seemed the professor was in a good mood. Rue glared expectantly at Cabot, doing nothing to conceal his impatience.

Cabot looked at the three Poké Balls and smiled. Even though the Professor seemed grouchy, it wasn't going to make Cabot's day bad, too. Cabot picked one of the Poké Balls.

"Alright! Let's go, Florcoon!" Cabot said, smiling still. He nodded respectfully to the Professor. "Thanks so much, Professor! I hope all your work goes well!" Cabot left the Lab, holding the new Poké Ball in one hand and a new PokéDex in the other. "This day's off to a great start!" Cabot exclaimed happily.

Leaving the Center, Cabot began his move toward Tin Town City, and took to the trail that lead to it. The Trail to Tin Town City was known for its unruly traveling graces, and its terrible weather patterns, not to mention the wild pokemon that inhabited the sandy area.

Cabot moved onward, and into the trail, where the path was still visible. The sand outside of the path, seemed darker and less firm to walk on, as random pokemon were seen burrowing in and out of it. Unexpectedly, a scorpion like pokemon crossed Cabot's path. He stopped, hoping it would leave, but it did not budge, and showed no intention of moving out of the way. It seemed intent on detering Cabot from the trail, and showing its dominance. It hissed, waiting on you to make your move. Cabot whipped out his pokedex to unveil the pokemon's identity.

"Geriopian, the pintail pokemon.  Geropion are fierce pokémon that have a very competitive spirit, unlike most other pokémon, it fights just for the sake of fighting even before being captured."

With the information gained, it was now up to Cabot, to figure out what he was going to do.

"Alright! A Geropian!" Cabot said smiling. He turned on his camera, still hanging around his neck, and took a few pictures of the Pokémon. "Let's catch it! Go, Florcoon!"

Cabot threw his lone Poké Ball, releasing Florcoon. "Florcoon looks tough! Let's see what you can do, buddy! Use Tackle on that Geropian!" Cabot said, and waited for Florcoon to charge.

Florcoon wasted no time obey the command by Cabot, and sprinted towards the Geropian. Geropian was prepared, as it quickly stepped off to the side, and slapped Florcoon with its tail for rushing in so wrecklessly. Being a scorpion meant quick reflexes, and Geropian would not faulter in displaying any. Florcoon turned around, and sprinted again, rushing directly at the Geropian, but nonetheless it was swiped by Geropians tail, and sent tumbling to the dirt, in front of Cabot's feet. Geropian hissed with vigor, as it was happy about its performance. Florcoon stood once more, ready to obey orders. Cabot had to be more strategic about his approach, since Geropian was not going to let a move go by without consequence.

Cabot snapped pictures as Florcoon charged, but, as long as the attacks missed, the pictures weren't as great as they could be. "Don't worry, Florcoon! Use Growl, and dodge Geropian's attacks! Keep using Growl!"

Cabot maneuvered around to get a better picture of the Geropian. It looked powerful and ready for battle. Hopefully, Florcoon could beat it, and Cabot could capture it...

The two Pokémon circle as Cabot keeps snapping photographs. Florocoon releases a Growl, bringing down the Geropian's Attack by 1. The Pintail Pokémon doesn't seem to like this, thrusting it's tail forward, attempting to strike with Poison Sting. Luckily, Florocoon was ready, leaping up over the oncoming tail. While airborne, Cabot's grass raccoon Pokémon releases another Growl, bringing down the wild Geropin's attack another point. Florocoon's opponent does not seem amused with it's attack being lowered once again, flailing a Posion Sting around again. Florocoon slips across the sand like a Piplup on ice, dodging the toxic tail once again, leaping up in front of his trainer.

Cabot stops taking pictures for a moment to figure out what to do next. "Okay, Florcoon! Get ready!" Cabot watched as Florcoon dodged another Poison Sting. "Good job! Keep using Growl!"

With Florcoon jumping again and again, Cabot had an idea. "Florcoon, the next time you jump and dodge, use a Tackle on it from above, but watch out for its tail!" Cabot instructed his Pokémon.

Florocoon nods, keeping his eyes focused on his foe. The grass raccoon Pokémon lets out a Growl, lowering the Geropian's Attack once again. Cabot can see the frustration building in the pintail Pokémon as it starts to swing it's tail about, launching another Poison Sting attack. Florocoon attempts to avoid the attack, leaping up into the air. But the frantic attack of Geropian does strike, causing Cabot's Pokémon to yelp in pain.

This doesn't break his focus as Florocoon comes down, using Tackle in the middle of Geropian's back. A painful screech comes out from under Florocoon as Geropian flails it's tail around. The pintail lashes forward, releasing another Poison Sting right into Florocoon's behind. The grass racoon Pokémon cries out, hopping off of the back of his adversary back towards his trainer.

Cabot catches Florcoon and sets him softly back on the ground. "Don't worry! We've got this!" Cabot says. He had a Poké Ball out and ready to catch the scorpion-like Pokémon with. Just a little more, and it should be nice and ready.

Cabot pointed at the Geropian. "Alright, Florcoon! Let's keep at it! Keep using Growl from long range, then move in once its attacks are took weak to hurt you much!"

Florcoon advanced on Geropian and let out a low growl. Geropian hesistated for a second, but then scuttled in and brought it's sharp sting smashing down upon Florcoon's back. Florcoon writhed in pain, the posion from the sting coursing through him like a burning fire.

Struggling, he managed to pull himself up and, charging headlong into the scorpion Pokémon with one last-ditch effort, sent it flying across the desert sands. It landed in a heap, knocked out by the power of that final Tackle. Florcoon walked towards you with a happy expression on his face, but the poison was beginning to take effect and Florcoon couldn't last much longer outside of his Pokéball.

"Good job, Florcoon! Return!" Cabot returns Florcoon to its Poké Ball. He surveys the path and the defeated Geropian. "I wonder if I could still catch that Geropian." Cabot says to himself, taking out another Poké Ball.

Geropian lays there, twitching slightly as it lays there, defeated. A breeze blows across the desert, kicking up a little sand over the fainted Pokémon. As Cabot is about ready to catch the Geropian as a flash catches his attention. He can see a trail of dust making it's way cross the sandy plains, closing in pretty fast. Before he knows it, the speedy object is upon him. The cloud runs right up to where you are, stopping before it gets to you. As the sand settles, you see a dust covered figure brushing themselves off. They reach up, moving their goggles up and removing the scarf from their face.

You see it's a girl, a big smile on her face as she walks up to you. "Hey, are you a new trainer? I've been looking for a fair battle here, but no one's really traveling the trail today it seems." She looks over at the wild Pokémon you've beaten, jumping excitedly. "Oh! That must be your first Pokémon you've beaten! So cool. Go ahead and capture it. I'll wait." She stands there patiently, continuing to dust herself off.

Cabot nods. "Thank you. Nifty get-up, by the way. Don't know if either of these Pokémon will be in much of a battling condition, though." Cabot brings the Poké Ball up to eye level and enlarges it to full size. "Here we go! Go, Poké Ball!"

Cabot throws the Poké Ball at the Geropian. The Ball glances off the Pintail Pokémon's back and envelopes it in a red light. Now, all there was left to do was make sure it's caught...
