The other application thread was a bit too cluttered and out of date, so here's a new one.

QUOTE (neoriceisgood)
Midamis is in dire need for some active moderators, with Seeker gone and me starting at Art Academy, there is a big lack of mods that can update regularly;

To apply I simply need the following:

1. Reasoning why you want to be a mod

2. An example of how you'd post to a non-combat post (Say someone decides to walk around the trail to find Pokémon, be imaginative)

3. An example of how you'd post to a battle situation

Obviously the help is much appreciated, as if I have to become a very active mod myself again, it'll definitely cut down on how fast I'll get the new dex done.

NOTICE:

Do not apply for a moderator job if you can't take criticism or rejection, being imaginative and understandable are the highest qualifications required, and if you can't type properly, you won't be made a mod, keep that in mind.

Thanks for replies in advance.

QUOTE (Moderator Application)
Why?: I've been active, and have monitered the forums for quite a while, even during the dead times. I'm very adept at role play, as I have helped make, and still participate in many.

Non-combat Post: The day was very normal, with little to no signs of weather shift. It was the perfect weather for you to recieve your new pokémon. The wind was blowing smoothly, as it caused your clothes to sway. The sun was high and bright, and the Centre seemed to be the only thing tall enough to reach it, as it became the apple of your eye. You strode forward ready to recieve your first pokémon.

In-Battle: The foe's Gyrados attempted to INTIMIDATE your Milotic, by glaring and making itself tower over your pokémon. Milotic backed away, lowering its pose, and reducing its offense. It seemed the foe's Gyrados dominated the field of battle, but your Milotic obeyed your orders, as it stood almost eye level with Gyrados, staring it in the eyes. Gyrados began to blush, and repressed his INTIMIDATE. Gyrados was now attracted to your Milotic.

If we're posting here to gain moderatorship, then I'll put in my name.

Why: I love roleplaying. I write well and do my best to keep my posts interesting. I have moderated and administrated forums many times before and have a large amount of experience.

Non-Combat Post: The swamp sucked at John's legs as he trudged through the quagmire. His Spearow sat condescendingly on his shoulder as if mocking him for taking this detour through the swamp. Suddenly, a crack sounded to John's right, making him jump. Spearow held its breath in anticipation as whatever had made the sound came closer, pushing underbrush aside. The incessant squawking of birds in the trees stopped as a large shadowy figure emerged from the brambles and let loose a spine-chilling roar. The fight was on.

Combat Post: The sun overlooked the battle, bringing its searing gaze to bear on the two combatants. Jeremy's Pyrall stood locked with the wild Houndour, desperately trying to push it back and gain a solid footing. Sweat matted Pyrall's fur and Houndour panted heavily. Neither gave way at first, but Pyrall's endurance slowly waned. Houndour threw Pyrall back with a toss of its head and the little red Pokémon finally succumbed to fatigue. The hound growled at Jeremy, goading him on with its guttural bark.

I'll put you, Flam1n90_F1ght3r, on Prob. Moderator-ship for now, and Mattimeo, you can go back to being a Mod.

Flam1n90_F1ght3r, try not to use the attack's names (in bold at least) in the battle post or state stats have been lowered that obviously. Like instead of saying Pyrall used Ember, maybe put that Pyrall spat a jet of searing flame or something. It just adds a little more realism and a little less statistic-based updating.

Why: Nothing to this, but I'm older than the other mods you've got at the moment. I've been writing now since back in middle school, having had some works published. Even though I have difficulty with ideas some times, I never seem to run out of ideas for Pokémon. I have been a moderator here before, as well as multiple other sites. Haven't been active lately, but now my time has freed up, I am ready to put my attention back to Midamis.

Non-Combat Post: Brennen clutched tightly to the charm given to him before his grandfather's passing, hoping it would bring him some luck as he made his way down the Trail to Tin Town. His new companion circled his feet, eager to begin his training. The loose sand slipped from under their feet as Brennen and his new Florocoon set out on their adventure.

The sun beamed down brightly on the pair, making their trek through the sandy trail more of a challenge. Brennen could feel the sweat beading on his brow, dripping down to occasionally spot his shirt or into his eye, causing him to stop a moment and regain his vision. Florocoon pranced along aside his trainer, occasionally slipping and getting a face full of sand. But the pair kept moving, knowing the harder the path, the better the reward.

And sure enough, the path provides. Florocoon tripped up on something protruding from beneath the sand. He calls out to Brennen, "Flor-coon! Florocoon!" hoping to get the attention of his trainer.

Battle Post: Audrey holds her nose, trying to avoid the stench emitting from the wild Grimer as her tunneling Pokémon charges into action. Doree grabs hold of his tail, tucking his body into a ball as he uses Rollout on the suldge Pokémon. Grimer awaits the attack, a sheen going over it's body as it uses Harden. The defensive maneuver helps lower the damage taken from Rollout, but doesn't block Grimer from getting hit.

Doree spins 180 degrees, charging back towards his opponent with another round of Rollout. Grimer reaches down into the marsh, picking up a hand full of mud, slinging it at the tunneling Pokémon. The Mud Slap hits Audrey's Doree, causing it to wobble off it's course and miss the next hit with Rollout. Releasing his tail, Audrey's Pokémon leaps up, ready to make another attack on the wild Grimer.

Alright, I really need to apply again? Jeez, I made this topic. Oh, the irony!

Why I want to be a mod: I love Midamis, and have, on several occasions, tried to revive it myself. I want to have a large role in reviving it this time. plus, I was one of the most active and best mods on the old site. I'm a good writer, literature is my passion, and an online RP is an excellent way to expand my repertoire.

Combat post:
QUOTE (StevieQ)
The Ekans hissed menacingly. Poison flecked on its fangs, glistening in the moonlight. Its eyes glowed yellow, and within them you saw a hint of intelligence, and realized...

this is no ordinary Pokemon.

Hissing again, the Ekans whirled off you and snatched at Devlin, who deftly sidestepped. Piper was writhing on the ground in agony, a great purple welt swelling on his arm. The veins stood out purple in stark contrast to his white skin.

The Ekans whirled again and struck at Devlin. Your Pokemon tried to dodge, but was still hit in the leg and knocked off balance. He managed to get off a weak thunderhshock before he tripped on a root and fell over. Leaping up with fire in his eyes, he unleashed a hail of yellow spores which spread in the air and landed everywhere on the battlefield, including on you. The Ekans saw the attack and escaped into some nearby brush.

You twitched your hands only to find that they were incapacitated. You found that you couldn't move your legs or arms, either! Devlin's stun spore had paralyzed you!

Devlin defeated you! Devlin gains one level!

Suddenly, there was a whoosh, and the Ekans, who had disappeared and climbed a nearby tree in the commotion, dropped down and sunk his fans into Devlin, who cried out and fell over again. He managed to get another thundershock off, though. The Ekans hissed, then caught sight of your poisoned Aquaff. A hungry gleam stole into his eyes, and, quick as a snake, the Ekans coiled his tail around Piper and disappeared into the bushes, leaving behind no trace but a small trail of venom that was leaking slowly from Piper's wounds.

Devlin lay on the path, more embarassed than hurt. Your paralysis wore off after a few minutes, allowing you to stand and stretch and consider your situation. The trail of venom glowed silver in the moonlight.

Non-combat Post:
QUOTE (StevieQ)
As you walked to the gate, you reflected. In retrospect, you had to admit that burning the forest had been a rather bad choice. Well, there was nothing you could do about that now. Your Aquaff was out of commission and you were on the lam from the law; might as well deal with it.

You reached the guard house that squatted on the edge of the imposing forest. The fire had come close to the town here; the shingles on the north side of the guard hut were melted and bent out of shape. The hut itself was deserted, and you passed through unheeded.

You entered the forest. A thin layer of ash coated the ground. The trees, before so full and green, were now skinny and blackened. You could see past the outskirts of the path, as there were no branches left to impede your view. It was hot, too, almost like the forest had retained the heat from the fire.

It was morning now, probably about 8:00 am, judging from the sun's position. Its rays slanted through the forest, illuminating the destruction. The little green that remained was illuminated brilliantly. One kind of moss in particular, seemed completely unaffected by the blaze. It grew on some charred tree stumps and by soot-blackened rocks, a lustrous flash of lime-green in the black forest.

You walked further, and stumbled across the clearing that had served as the Base of Operations during the fire. It was almost deserted now; every available team had been sent out to quench the last patches of the fire, and the refugees were almost all at the Pokemon Center. There was a Wartortle with a bandaged arm, presumably burned while fighting the fire, one Chansey tending to the Wartortle, and a Spearow that glared at you, squawked, then took wing, soaring into the air, circling lazily as if looking for something...

You walked on and now started seeing patches of trees that had survived the fire. It seemed that you were nearing the edge of the blaze's rampage. You were also noticing more activity. Firefighters passed you on the path, hurrying back to the town or base.

And suddenly, you were out, back into the real forest. Pokemon were around, and you realized how quiet the burned forest had been. Here, birds cawed, Zigzagoon snuffled, and Bellsprout wheezed. The trees caught the sunlight and reflected it, brightening the forest. A piece of ash floated down from the sky, carried on the zephyrs from the remaining patches of fire, and settled on a broad leaf, marring the perfect tranquility of the forest. A Pidgey flew down and kicked it off, as if to say, "you are not welcome here." It almost seemed like the bird was glaring at you...

The forest went incredibly still for a second. Then suddenly, they were everywhere. Pokemon, clawing, tearing, biting, ripping your clothes and skin. You instinctively help up your hands, trying to protect yourself, but they just grabbed your shirt and pulled you down. Through the flurry you saw Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, Bellsprout, Poochyena, Chaust, dozens of different Pokemon. But two caught your eye. One, a Spearow, the Spearow, from the clearing, sitting on a branch, watching the fight. And two, the Ekans. Coodinating the attack, glaring at you with the evil, yellow eyes...

I like your lengthy posts (although remember, some trainers prefer to be heavy with the mechanics), but your combat post I found a little hard to follow. Couldn't really tell who was a trainer and who was a Pokémon. As for your non-combat post, you put a lot into it. Definitely seem to have a darker presence on the world of Pokémon (good thing to me as I find it a little too light and cheery right now). Maybe it's just me wanting to check things out and try to help, but I wanted to act and was blocked by your quick paced movement of character. So, for the time being, I'm promoting you to Probationary Moderator. Put you back out into the field, see how you handle posts with each person's preference. If I see good work within the next week, I'll promote you again to Moderator status.

I recognize his talent, but still see issues with these examples he's given me. That's why I want to see how he handles posts this week. Standing by my decision.

UPC, if you want to see how I handle posts, look in the old RP. The two I posted were just random ones, I've made more than 500 posts on this forum. Surely you can find some.

UPC's got admin rights for a reason, if he sees issues with a post, I take it he grounds that on valid reasoning.
