"My feet!" Abigail said outloud as she entered the maids' quarter.

This room was quite small and didn't smell very good. It hadn't been cleaned in a long time, straw from the 'beds' was everywhere on the floor and food was hidden here and there. Nobody really paid attention to this room though.. All but Abigail. Forgetting about her feet, the yong woman frowned and smelled the air. She furrowed her brows and quickly stepped out of the small prison. She couldn't stand it. It smelled even worst then it did this morning! She sighed loudly and pushed a curl back under one of the pins holding her hair up. All of her work for the morning had been done and she was now free to do whatever she wanted for atlest five minutes, under her rules that was.. If the head maid was to find her lazily sitting around she'd kill her. This woman was very strict and she never ever stopped working, a thing she wanted the younger maids to do. Too much work was too much for Abigail. She wouldn't be able to survive a whole day of cleaning without a small break. Working in a castle was deffinatly harder then working in the fields, atleast she thought so.

Now where could she go? Abigail looked down the stone hallway and bit her lower lip, deep in thoughts. She had to hide. Ha! The stables! Sure, there were many workers there but it was quite easy to hide in the dark corners. For, it was a big stable and the stable workers either stayed with the horses., cleaned the stalls or the outside. They rarely checked the hay stacks before noon. Abigail had time. The young girl quickly made her way outside, trying not to be seen by anyone. She snuck in the back of the stables and looked around. No one in sight. Quietly and slowly, the young girl managed the climb inside and hide behind the tall stacks of hay. She grinned and sat back against the broken wood, enjoying the rest. She took off her shoes and crossed her legs one on top of the other. Obliviously, their shoes weren't the best there was and they often hurt her feet to the point they bled. She was slowly getting used to it but she as beyond happy to take them off to let her feet breath a bit.

Silas sighed, frustrated. "I knew I should have taken that damned chest when I had the chance. Now I have to get inside all over again." Hurriedly heading towards the castle, he hopped quickly across the rooftops of the houses in town. Hope too slow, and he'd fall off, along with one of the shingles. Hop too fast, and someone was bound to see him hopping along in the fairly sunny day. He landed lightly on his feet near the river, behind the castle.

He caught sight of the Castle's stable roof behind the large gates and fence, which were behind the many guards, and smiled faintly. He couldn't sneak up on the castle. Too many guards. He'd have to break in somehow, though. He slid into the river, which was shining brightly, the water reflecting the sunlight and moving quickly, almost pulling him downstream. He jumped halfway in, and swam quickly across. He pulled himself out, and sighed yet again, sitting on the dirt ground. He'd have to knock out a guard, and steal his armor to get in. Or figure out another way.

"Alright, girl" Abigail told herself. "Time to go back to work."

The young woman sighed lightly and stood up very slowly, careful to see if anybody was around. Seeing it was as empty as it had been ten minutes ago, Abigail walked in front of the hay and slipped through the small whole inbetween the wood planks making the wall. Once out she pulled on her skirts to place them back, dusted off the back of her outfit and tried to fix her hair as best as she could. It was a hassle always having to look the best you could. She didn't understand why. After all, she was only a maid, therefor she was always dusty. It was just useless trouble and a real waste of time to always have to clean your clothing. Who would care to look at her anyways? The king had rejected her and she didn't have too many friends within the walls of this castle, where she did spend all of her time.

Once she was clean she carefully stepped away from the stables and acted as she was going on with her usual tasks. Just then she forgot about her shoes. Slapping herself mentally, the girl hurried back into the stables and grabbed her shoes. She put them on one by one. Just then she heard footsteps down the narrow hall heading for the hay room. She rushed out of there once again and ran away from the stables. As she did so she tripped on something. Or more like somebody. Abigail's eyes widened as she rushed back up.

"I am so sorry," she excused herself. "I have no idea what had gotten into me."

All of these words wasted. For she turned around and saw that the man on the ground was no royal. She dusted her skirts and looked at him curiously. Now, clearly, the man wasn't from the court.
"And who are you?" she asked.

OOC: Silas is still down by the river... but ok. He magically teleported into the castle...

IC: Five minutes earlier...

Silas blinked. Something was moving around in the stable. "Hmpf. The guards are moving away from the fence around the back area. I could climb up there." He ducked down low, and ran towards the gate as quickly as he could.

He stopped when he reached the gates, biting his lip in frustration. His left eye remained closed, and he glanced around, trying to find a way to climb up the fence. He spotted a tree not five feet to his right, and smiled. "That's convient." He looked past the stable into the castle courtyard, and saw that the guards were heading back into the castle. Something must be happening inside. Perfect, he thought.

Climbing the tree with lightning speed, he reached the top branches in but a few moments. Leaping off of them and behind the stable, he smiled triumphantly, and walked a few feet, cursing silently as someone tripped over his feet. Looking at the man- woman who had tripped (at this Silas smiled even wider), he blinked. Then, his smile became a grin.

"First, madam, you're polite. Then you're rude... and you're obviously in no position to ask who I am, seeing as I'm the one who has the advantage here, not to be discriminate or anything. But I have a weapon. And I seem to be a bit taller."

OOC: Sorry, misread that. *slaps forehead*

IC: Abigail frowned at what he said and croassed her arms against her stomach. If his goal was to scare her, then he was succeeding much. Well the weapon.. Okay, maybe a little, but not that much. Anyways, the guards were close to where they were standing and she had the advantage on that.. Since she was actually allowed to be here and he clearly wasn't.

She looked behind her shoulder, trying to quickly spot a guard. None were there but she could here them walking not too far away. "You may have the weapon, but I'm probably faster and I scream very loudly. If you dare try anything the guards will be here iin seconds. Judging by the fact that you aren't dressed oh so royally nor have anything on you that can prove you work here, you have no right to be here. The consequence for intruders is execution," she said, looking back towards the man.

Silas's grin did not falter. "Well, I most certainly deserve execution. Haven't worked in weeks. But back to what you've just said. You might be faster than me, but the second you do call out, you'll find my knife sticking out of either your throat, heart, or head. All I have to do is pick. And if I do happen to be caught, I could get you imprisoned as well for stopping to chat, eh?"

He glanced at the guards who were starting to talk. "Besides. I could outrun you. I've been running all my life. From guards, townsfolk, bandits... anything." Pausing to stick his hand over his knife, he looked around again. His left eye stayed closed.

"And who mentioned anything about me trying anything? I wasn't going to do anything to you..."

Abigail didn't understand people like him. They weren't honest and they cheated the honest. To her, it was no life. I guess once you've worked for a while, you know, a real job, you'd feel the same way Abigail felt towards the man. She looked down for a second, quickly observing the clothes he was wearing. She looked back up to his face as he spoke again. A knife into her head? Or heart, or throat? A shiver went through her body though she did nothing of it. The best she could do right now, or so she thought, was to act as normal as she could.

"Aren't you a gentleman," she commented, rolling her eyes.

Soon the man seemed to observe the surroundings. This was a chance to run, try to hit him or simply stay here and do nothing. She chose the last option. Even though she didn't agree with anything he was doing, she still felt interested.. or maybe more like curious towards the guy. What would he do next? "Well I couldn't have known.."

Silas nodded slowly, looking up into the sky with his right eye, and closed left one. Hmmm... 'bout midday, bit past. I'll come back tomorrow. Hopefully the guards will go back inside at the same time.

He looked back down at Abigail, and shrugged in response. "It's my defense, mam. You scream to the guards, I kill you, and run. I'm not here to hurt you. Unless you're Kng Louis in a diguise. It'd be a fairly good one, too... nah. Unless you're him or some other royalty that supports him, I'm not gonna hurt ya, mam."

He was completely relaxed. He could move out of the way if this woman attacked him, and easily get out of the castle in time. Climb onto the stable, jump over the fence, and run into the village. The poor would help him. And if not, he could hide easily enough. But if this woman chose to turn him in, and he couldn't get over the fence, he'd either die or find out what the inside of the castle looked like for the first time in his life. He'd probably have to run through it. Which he didn't want to do.

"Yes, I do understand that.," she replied.

So trying anything was out of the question. Well it had been since the begining, although it was still in her head as an option. She hated the king's rules and the way he seemed to love to kill every single person out there.. So ithere was a very slim chance she'd help him doing so by turning in this man.

Abigail locked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and chuckled as the man went on about her being some kind of spy or the king himself. "I think I'd die if I'd have to be in this man's shoes.. And don't worry, I'll never be somebody who supports the king." The last part was almost in a whisper, even though it wasn't mostlikely somebody could hear her from here except for the man. She simply said many things about the king inside and outside the castle, and since not all were nice she had to keep it down so nobody would hear her.

"Anyways, what were you here to do?" she asked him curiously.

Silas sighed, happy that this woman wasn't supportive of the King, though not many people liked him. "Glad you aren't, mam. I don't know many people who like him, but that guillotine of his is mighty persuasive not to oppose him..." He chuckled. "I love what I do, miss."

Silas smiled yet again, a genuine smile. "I'd hope you can keep a secret. It doesn't matter though, as long as you aren't going to run off and tell someone I'm here."

Glancing at the guards who were chatting only about twenty yards away from them, he said, "I'm here to steal something. I, madam, am a thief, and I fancy I'm a rather good one at that. And now would obviously be the best time, seeing as most of the guards are leaving for the inner parts of the castle."

Silas stopped, finished with his explanation. "And what do you intend to do now, mam?"
