About the Player
Name: Nekochi
RP Experience: I've only been role playing for about two years, but I've been writing stories since I was in kindergarten. I view role playing as something like writing a story with a bunch of people. ^-^
About the Character
Name: Lady Alicia Kurai
Age and Birthday: 42-years-old, November 10th
Place of Birth: The Moon
Appearance: When one looks at Alicia it is easy to tell that she was once a very beautiful woman. It is also quite clear that she is beginning to lose her beauty. Her hair is a long and luxurious raven black that is showing signs of gray at her temples. She always wears it in a bun with natural wispy curls escaping out of their holds to rest on her cheeks and neck. The look was quite flattering in her youth, but now it just makes her look severe and unapproachable. She has a rather high forehead that remains bare except for those same wispy strands which land there. She almost always styles her hair like this except when she wants to look especially youthful and beautiful at parties. In this case she wears it down with her bangs arraigned becomingly on her forehead and a silver tiara, that she is probably too old for, placed in on the top of her head. When down her hair lands past her shoulders, though it would be longer if she were ever to straighten it. Her hair is also quite full and frames her face when worn like this.
Alicia has a very curvy body that used to be quite thin. However, as she has gotten older she has gained a bit of weight. Enough to be plump, but not to be considered fat or terribly out of shape. Her weight is somewhere around 150lbs though she won't disclose the exact number. She is rather tall, about 5'8", and is vain of this fact. She was after all quite beautiful in her prime and even now she is not entirely bad looking. Her skin is a very light color which is made to appear lighter by her dark hair. She would indeed appear rather sickly if not for the fact that she always wears many layers of rouge on her high cheekbones. Her skin is rather soft because of the lotions she uses every day. The lotion usually has special herbs in it to keep her from burning and she doesn't easily tan so her skin normally stays the same shade. Her complexion is rather beautiful, almost without blemishes except for a few small age spots which are expertly hidden with make up. Her nose is rather straight and pixy-like and her ears are shapely and pretty. Her eyes are a deep chocolate brown framed by thick eyelashes. Her eyes always seem to glitter, though these days it is questionable if they are sparkling with happiness or with dark intentions. She has large plump lips that are always painted red. She always tries to smile and does so rather prettily. However, she is prone to fits of anger and her calm look can disappear rather quickly. Though she has been trained in social dos and don’ts so she usually manages to still appear calm around everyone but her family. Due to her proper etiquette she always stands up straight and walks rather daintily, never running. Her voice is sweet and golden like honey or the bubbling of a creek. She always tries to speak softly as to sound sweet, though she sometimes ends up yelling at her husband.
She always wears dresses that will make her look more youthful, favoring empire style waists now that she has gained a little bit of weight. She will wear dresses in colors like white, black, and silver hoping to look mysterious like moonlight. Proof that she should be the true ruler of the moon. She also wears a lot of jewelry. She wouldn’t want anyone to forget that she is now royal. She often wears an intricate silver tiara that almost looks like it is made of lace and carries a silver scepter. She also has a favorite pair of satin silver slippers that she almost always wears. Whatever she is wearing, you can be sure that she always looks perfect. Public appearance is something that is very important to her.
Personality: Lady Alicia is rather cynical. She has never really believed in happy endings or true love. They never came to her after all. However, this is a side of herself that she keeps hidden. People wanted Princesses to be beautiful, graceful, gentle, and kind and she had always sought to be a princess. Not for anything as shallow and stupid as marrying a prince! Oh no! She wanted the power that came with the position. All her life, she was taught that power was all that mattered and she has come to believe it. This was the goal towards which she worked her whole life. She is a very driven and ambitious person and she will work hard to reach her goals.
She doesn’t like other people very much, thinking that they all are playing the same games she is playing and will just try to use her. However she will always be nice to them, even people she considers enemies or rivals, which is a great many people. Appearances are the most important thing after all. Therefore a lot of people like her without realizing what she is really like. Lady Alicia has a great deal of people that she will spend time with. However, she doesn't really consider them her friends. She doesn't really enjoy spending time with anyone besides her children after all, and at times her husband. The reason she has "friends" is power. Therefore, she will try to make nice with anyone who has a great deal of power. She is nice to everyone though. You never know when someone will gain more influence and you may be able to use them. Because she doesn't like people, she doesn't really trust them either. She never tells anyone but her children and her husband her secrets and sometimes she doesn't even tell them. Because she never trusts anyone it is rather impossible for someone to betray her trust. However, when someone does something to hurt her she will do her best to hurt them. She will do it in a sneaky way, such as spreading rumors which could ruin them. Whatever way she picks to hurt them it is pretty much always in a way that is almost impossible to trace back to her. She is a very conniving person.
Alicia considers a lot of people her enemies. However, it is questionable how many of these people consider her their enemy. She dislikes people rather easily. However, even those people she dislikes she treats rather well. As for people she's afraid of, there really aren't any. She is very confidant in herself and all of the power she has gained over the years. If someone is a mutual enemy, meaning they consider her an enemy as well, she will hurt them in much the same way as she will hurt someone who tries to hurt her. Sneakily, but completely.
She cares for very few things in the world besides power. Those things are learning and her children. She loves her daughter and son more than anything in the world and would do anything for them. They are the only two people who she is nice to because she genuinely likes them and not to gain power. She does not love her husband, but gets along with him well. However, their relationship is more like that of a business partnership than a marriage. She loves to spend time with her children, as well as reading. She also spends a great deal of her time plotting for power, but this is more from training than a love for plotting. Then again, it could hardly be said that she hated it. What she does hate is not getting her way, when people make fun of her, or hurt her children. Other than that, she is fairly easy going about what she does and doesn't like. After all, her whole life she never really liked anything. She just had to put up with what was given to her. As much as she respects power, she doesn’t always respect the people in power and often thinks that she could do a much better job than they could. Therefore she won’t always obey authority figures. Though when she doesn’t she does so in a sneaky way which makes it look like she is obeying or makes her action look justified. She does the same with rules.
Lady Alicia’s biggest flaws are probably her temper, her hungriness for power, and her cynicism which often doesn’t let her see anything besides power. Even when her search for power sometimes hurts the two people she loves most. She often does things she doesn't want to in order to gain power. For example, being the proper princess that people expect her to be. She certainly doesn't want to be nice to everyone, but she will in order to keep up appearances. However, when she gets angry is a force to be reckoned with. What makes her angry is when someone tries to steal power from her, tries to make her look like a fool, or tries to do something to hurt her children. Of course if they succeed, her rage is even worse. When she is angry she will solve problems how she normally does. In a round about way that completely ruins the target, while making her look like an angel...
Attack(s): N/A
History: Alicia was born into a noble family. However, that family was never noble enough. It wasn’t close enough to the royal family, so there was almost no chance of ever taking the throne. Because of this, Alicia’s mother was extremely discontent. Not only was her marriage not good enough, but it was loveless and had been entered into as a way of securing political alliances. She took out her frustrations on her daughter, yelling at her constantly and often hitting her. Of course she always hit her below the neckline. It wouldn’t do to have anyone find out she was abusing her daughter. At first Alicia didn’t know why and naturally assumed it must be her fault. She tried her best to be a good girl. However, as she grew older she realized that it had nothing to do with her and eventually gave up trying to be the perfect child. The way her mother beat her for no reason made Alicia mad and contrary and when she was a young child she would hit her friends to get rid of her own anger. Her friends often put up with this because their parents wouldn't believe them if they told them the truth. After all, even as a child Alicia and her family had a great deal of power and people certainly didn't want to get on their bad side.
Needless to say the relationship between Alicia and her mother was strained at best. The relationship with her father was almost as bad. At least her father didn’t hit her, but he was never at home. He was always doing something important and political teaching Alicia to trust no one and that friendships were only a way of gaining power. Her mother was gone just as often and servants and nannies raised her, though she never became close to any of them. Being close to someone made you put your guard down and that made you weak. And power was something you gained at all costs. When she was 5, Alicia's superb education began. Some of the best tutors around were brought to their mansion to teach her. She had at least one for each subject and they all did their best because they were paid so well. Every once in awhile her parents would drop in to see how her teaching was coming. If it was at all lacking, or just if her mother was in a bad mood, Alicia would be punished. Despite this, learning was one of the few things in life she truly enjoyed. She soaked up knowledge like a sponge and still craved more. She loved books more than anything as you were able to lose yourself in books. Though she always read these stories with a cynical edge. There were no such things as happy endings and true love was just wishful thinking. As a child, Alicia enjoyed almost nothing but reading. She found dolls and the games the other children played a boring and pointless pastime and she didn't enjoy being out in the sunshine. It could ruin her good looks, which Alicia was very vain of. She was also trained in etiquette and hers was perfect. She loved to show off her superior skills at the many parties held by the royal family and other important nobles. And as she grew older she became quite charming and flirty. Of course, she never actually slept with any of the men who she flirted with. That would make her ineligible.
By the time Alicia became a teenager her habit of slapping her friends had stopped. She was determined to not have the life her mother had had and to marry well. So she focused all her time on being sweet tempered and beautiful. And beautiful she was. At parties she was never without a dance partner and she always had multiple beaus pursuing her. However she was not satisfied with any of these men. She did not expect love of course. She knew that was a thing that only existed in fairy tales. Or at least she had never seen it in real life. If it did exist, it must be very rare. What the girl really wanted was a good match. She had been taught all her life that power was the only thing that really mattered in life. It was what you looked for when you made friends, it was the reason you flirted, and it was the reason you eventually got married. One day all of Alicia’s hard work paid off when the current Queen’s (Serenity’s mother) younger brother took an interest in her. His name was Florin. Personally, Alicia thought his name was funny and found him to be rather boring, but this was the match she had been waiting her whole life for. She would not give it up. And so she was as beautiful and charming as she could possibly be.
When Alicia turned twenty she was married in a grand ceremony that took almost a full year to plan. The marriage wasn’t exactly happy, but neither spouse hit the other one and they lived in a sort practical harmony that was more like a business partnership than a marriage. About a year after she was married she became pregnant with her first child. She was a girl who had never expected any happiness in her life and was caught entirely off guard when she fell completely in love with this mysterious unborn life. She had never been so happy in her entire life. She had never been happy in her entire life. When she had William at twenty-two she doted on him and wouldn’t let any nannies or servants near him. She nursed him herself and spent almost all of her time with him, rather spoiling him. She'd buy him any toy he wanted and dressed him in only the finest clothes. And she loved him. Something that neither her mother or father had done with her. She was determined not to do to him what her mother had done to her. Almost the only time she left him alone was during his lessons and the fancy parties she still had to attend. However, she did not attend nearly as many of these after she had William until both he and his sister were old enough to attend the parties with her. Sometime after William was born, she had her second child, a little girl, and she treated her daughter much the same way. The two had a much happier childhood than she did.
The next few years of her life were spent much the same way. Caught up in her two beloved children, and as always the search for power. Then she turned thirty-three and a great change rocked her world. The King and Queen of the Moon died leaving their power defenseless little eight-year-old daughter to fend for herself. Except of course for who dear Aunt Alicia and Uncle Florin who became the regents of the moon. This is what Alicia had been waiting for her whole life. She really couldn’t find it in her to be sad. Her darling son or daughter would soon take the throne. They would have everything she had never had. Maybe even that fairy tale they called love.
Lady Alicia began plotting to put her children on the throne right away. She wanted the best life for them possible, after all, and the best life came from having the most power. However, it wasn't until a couple of years later that she had the idea to have William marry Serenity. Florin was the one who came up with the idea. He had mentioned that Serenity was growing up to be quite beautiful and perhaps they should consider marrying her off to William. It was something said in passing. Unimportant really, but Alicia couldn't get the idea out of her mind. Of course Serenity was beautiful and sweet, but more importantly she would turn her beloved son into royalty. And of course, if that line of action was followed, Alicia wouldn't have to plot Serenity's death. Deaths were always sticky affairs. It was almost impossible to get away with murders, especially when the victim was so powerful and beloved. No, no, having her marry her cousin would be much simpler. After all, matches with close family members like cousins were not uncommon. And Alicia was sure that if Serenity searched the entire universe she would never find a better match than her cousin, William...
