Year of The Wolf
Winter

Azibo Moors

It was dark, the moon could only peek through the branches, pooling on the ground, flowing through me, through my hands, like water. I had wandered to the east, to the territory which I will now refer to as 'Diminia'. A strange breed of horses live in this land, powerful creatures who can bend the very earth to their will. They seemed to have divided the land, forming herds led by the strongest male and female. But this place is different. A strange whisper runs through the air and the trees sway toward me, as if they can see my ghostly form.

I could hear footsteps, a quick patter against the leaves. A little foal burst through a thicket, struggling wildly, kicking his legs and bleating in terror. His eyes were wide with fear, and I yearned to comfort him, to run my fingers across his downy pelt till he stopped shivering. But I was long dead, and I could no sooner reach out to him than make myself seen. I could hear a louder crash behind him, the thunder of a full grown stallion pushing through the underbrush. A pitch black brute jumped after him, all ragged pelt and muscled limbs. The creature raced after the child, jaws agape, saliva dripping from between his stained incisors.

The colt squealed loudly, ducking and dodging between the tree trunks, and I felt compelled to follow, drifting after the pair, toes barely scraping across the ground. The chase continued on, leading westward, till we finally broke free of the woods. It was a beautiful view, I could see the ocean, and silhouetted against the water stood a massive castle. The two horses skidded down the hill, the foal tumbling and tripping haphazardly, the black stag lading heavily. My attention was drawn onward again, where the form of a cream mare shimmered in the distance. A surge of power filled me, tingling along my hair like static. There was something different about this horse, she stood out, somehow, from the other two.

The femme paced forward quickly, moving at a trot towards us. The other two had stopped and had turned to look at her as well. A look of fear crossed the dark one's face, and a look of wonder on the foal's. The fae stopped ten feet away, standing squarely, head raised, orbs sparking with fury.
How dare you! How dare you trespass on my land! She stomped the ground, baring her teeth. The air crackled and the black brute gave a yelp as he was lifted off the ground, thrown upwards by a newly grown tree that had pooped out of nowhere. I blinked in amazement, watching the creature rise, then fall, landing on the hard earth with a sickening crunch. He was dead, even a simpleton could tell that much.

The colt froze, twitching his pelt, terror resplendent in his features. The mare spoke once more, anger still colouring her voice.
And you? You are on my land as well. What should I do with you? She mused the question to herself, rolling the sentence around in her mouth. I suppose I will let you go... Though I could easily leave you to rot in my forest. She paused again. [b]I will take you to the entrance of the woods, and from then on, you are on your own. I do not care if parents await you out there, but
