[Jason McConnel]

Jason walked through the large doors of the library. He looked around in awe of the vast amount of knowledge that the room contained.

He knew what he was here for, to get any information he can on the demon that killed his mother. When she was found her hair had lost all of it's pigment turning it completely white, her face looked terrified and the outline of a single dried tear was still on her face. The police said she died of a heart attack probably brought on by extreme fear. They said she was probably psychotic but Jason knew better.

He spent hour after hour going through books on different kinds of demons. Finally four hours later he came across exactly what he was looking for:

"Barbus: The Demon of Fear
Every 1300 years on Friday the 13th Barbus tries to kill 13 witches in order to be brought fully into our world. He first uses his power to see their true fears and then brings them into reality in the form of an illusion only the victim can see. If the person isn't able to overcome their fears they are ultimately consumed by them literally scaring them to death to such an extent that their hair actually turns white. Barbus was first vanquished by the Charmed ones in the late 1990's by overcoming their fears. He later found the strength to return by tricking the Source out of his power. But soon The Source switched his powers back and vanquished Barbus once and for all."

Several things didn't add up. The way his mother died matched perfectly to Barbus's MO but the fact that Barbus was completely destroyed by the source over twenty years ago made it impossible for it to be Barbus, plus his mother wasn't killed on friday the 13th, it was a wednesday and the date was the 29th. It didn't make sense.

"So..." Jason said outloud to himself, "So there's a demon running around with Barbus's power killing witches..."

He stared off into oblivion trying to think of any possibilities.

[Peter White]

Peter walked into the library looking for Jason. He spotted him over in a secluded section with a table full of books just staring off into space. He casually walked over to him and knocked on the table hoping to break him out of his trance.

"How's the research going?" he asked quietly.

[Jason McConnel]

Lost in his thoughts Jason continued to stare across the room until a loud knocking on his table brought him back to reality.

"Hows the research goin?" Peter asked him quietly.

"Oh it's... eh... it's going I guess, these things just don't add up." He said as he passed the book down to Peter. "I mean it says that the demon Barbus killed witches in the exact way that mom died, only he was vanquished about 20-some years ago by the Source, and it says he only kills on Friday the 13th, she wasn't killed on Friday the 13th, but everything else matches perfectly. Ugh... I just don't understand." Jason said burying his head in his hands in frustration.

[Peter White]

Don't stress too much bud, or you'll just end up..." He was cut off by a jingling sound seemingly coming from nowhere. "One sec, it's the Elder's, it sounds urgent. I'll be right back."

With that he orbed away but returned less than a minute later.

"The Elders say another witch was killed last night, she died the same way your mother did."

[Jason McConnel]

"WHAT?!" Jason replied instantly. "Can you take me there?"

[Peter White]

"No it's not safe, the Elder's are advising that all young witch's remain in Magic School until we can figure out who is behind this." He said in a fatherly tone. "I want you to stay here, keep researching this and try and figure out whatever you can."

[Jason McConnel]

"Alright, tell me if you figure anything out"

[Peter White]

"Ditto!" He said as he orbed away.

[Jason McConnel]

With that Jason got back to his reading. He narrowed his search down to anything that had to do with Barbus and his untimely death. After hours of searching he came across a book titled "Famous Charmed Vanquishings: A Detailed Guide to the Most Famous Vanquishings of the Charmed Ones"

He opened the book and searched through it for anything about the final time Barbus was vanquished. Finally he found a section about Barbus and the Source:

"Two years later, Cole Turner (Phoebe's Clandestine love and also the Source of all Evil) decided that in order to preserve his love with Phoebe he needed to get rid of the Source's powers by sending them to another demon. Little did he know that Barbus had watched the whole thing and just as he began to send his powers to the demon Barbus intercepted the power giving him more than enough to come back to power. It didn't last long however, after a day and half of tormenting the Charmed One's Cole worked out a spell to get his powers back, even though he knew doing so would once again push Phoebe away from him. The spell worked and he pulled all of the power out of Barbus and finished the job by blowing him up. Afterwards..."

Jason stopped there, where something caught his eye. The phrase "pulled all of the power out of Barbus" seemed to stand out. "What if..." Jason thought "What if Cole not only received the Source's powers... but Barbus's as well..."

"Oh my god..." Jason said out loud "PETER!!!" He shouted frantically into the air.

[Peter White]

A cloud of orbs quickly descended through the ceiling and down next to Jason. "What! What is it? What's wrong??" He said frantically worrying at the tone of Jason's voice.

[Jason McConnel]

"The Source! It has to be him, when he vanquished Barbus he first had to take his powers back, what if in fact he also received Barbus's powers as well???" He said, his voice a mixture of energy, anger, and fear.

[Peter White]

"Peter! Settle down! It can't be the Source, he was vanquished over 20 years ago by the Charmed Ones. He's gone..."

[Jason McConnel]

"So!" Jason snapped "I read in here that the source came back three or four times after they had vanquished him, who's to say he can't come back again? And when I was in the Underworld the other day there was this demon in a black cloak, and when he looked at me his eyes were solid black with flames in them, that's what this book says happens to anyone inhabited by the Source!" He said pointing to a book titled "Evil Woo'ers and Evil Do'ers" "PETER!" He said grabbing Peter's shoulder. "He's back..."

[Peter White]

"I...I..." Peter was stunned, he knew everything Jason said could very well be true. "I'm gonna go ask the Elder's." And with that he quickly vanished in a cloud of blue orbs.

[Peter White]

After about 10 minutes Peter orbed back in, his face was clearly trying to hide a lot of distress. "The Elder's say it is very possible that he has returned. They have been tracking a large increase in demonic energy in the Underworld for months now. I don't want you to leave Magic school, you're safe here... for now." He noticed a discerning look on Jason's face "Jason... the last time the source came to power... Good was almost completely destroyed... be careful. I'm going to go talk to Ms. Halliwell, be safe" With that he orbed away before Jason could even say anything.
