Title: A new DS?
Darkproto - December 10, 2008 03:18 AM (GMT)
Besides Psp 3000, I read about a new game system of the DS. I think it didnt have such majorly cool new things. I remember it didnt have the GBA slot anymore and the lighting is better.
MegaBassFalzar - December 10, 2008 03:24 AM (GMT)
Yes, its called the DSi and it sucks ass.
CursedPhantom D - December 10, 2008 04:15 AM (GMT)
It doesn't suck ass completely. The bad thing is you can't play gba games on it, but it does have a bit more multimedia for the person without the means to get R4 etc.
I like the ds lite, black, though it shows smudges way to easy, its small and cute.
AND B*TCHES LOVE TEH SMALL AND CUTE OVER BIG AND MULTIFUNCTIONAL.

Flash carts are incompatible, GBA games do not work, and it looks stupid.

Ill agree with the last three.
Although, someone will eventually find a way to get around the flash cart thing. Hackers have no lives..

Gonna preorder mine as soon as possible. Idk, I like the look of it, and need to update. I still have my ds phat. And the minute I preorder my DSi, I'm preordering my AK2i. I have an acekard now which is an awesome cart, so i might as well buy the acekard for DSi since it is only 27 bucks.
CursedPhantom D - December 16, 2008 03:32 AM (GMT)
I like the DSl.
But speaking of games...luminous arc2 anyone?
lol.
I just want to know the extent of the DSi's features.
shredder - December 16, 2008 03:48 AM (GMT)
I don't know much but I heard that it has a camera.
Lex Luthor - December 18, 2008 01:22 PM (GMT)
I believe I read that it does have a camera, it has built in internet - like that net card I bought which is apperently no longer in stores anymore - and that is all I remember.

Nintendo fail
Right there
Lex Luthor - December 18, 2008 01:30 PM (GMT)
its decent but doesnt use flash which makes it crappy.
AroTheHunter - December 18, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
You can download the Europe version on most rom sites, because iirc it wasn't released in America.
CursedPhantom D - December 19, 2008 03:42 AM (GMT)
they need flash badly. Like, the best and latest.
PSP users would shat bricks.
shredder - December 22, 2008 11:57 PM (GMT)
Found a site about it =
linkyBTW I still have the OLD DS. Not the DS Lite. You know, the big bulky one that cost liek $250 upon release date. Man is mine messed up. It's touch screen is broken, making most of my DS games useless. By most I mean all.
P.S. Nintendo would be retarded NOT to get flash on the DSi. PSPs would shet AND get a shotgun blast to the face.
Ryusei no Rockman - December 23, 2008 02:04 PM (GMT)
It sucks honestly.
No GBA compatability kills this, this also means games like Guitar Hero: On Tour will no longer be able to played on these, and several DS games with GBA linkage will not work either.
Yes it has multimedia features such as a camera and music (which doesn't even support MP3 format btw), but honestly at this point of multimedia saturation I probably already have things that do these features, and I don't need another device to do the same thing. Yes I know this could easily be said about the PSP, but that came out in early 2005, at that point having multimedia features was still a pretty neat idea. Now that we're in 2008 going on 2009, the idea just seems redundant.
Ryussei no Rockman - December 23, 2008 02:14 PM (GMT)
Well this pretty much sucks.
No GBA compatability, so this means games like Guitar Hero: World Tour cannot be played on the DSi, also DS games with possible linkage to GBA games is now no longer possible.
Yes, I guess you could say it has multimedia features such as a camera and music (which doesn't even support the MP3 format btw), but honestly at this point the market saturation for multimedia devices has become so cluttered. It's like how many devices do I already have that do these things? The answer is usually a lot. And you could also say the PSP can be criticized for this as well, but let's solemnly keep in mind that it was released early 2005, the idea of a portable gaming system, or a device in general having, multimedia features was relatively still a fresh thing to do. Now that we're in 2008 going to 2009, the idea is just getting reused and redundant. I mean there's Zunes, iPods, MP4 players, MP3 players, etc, I don't need to add a DSi as my list of multimedia devices. The DS Lite and original DS are sufficient if you want to innovative touch screen gameplay.
Kayle - December 23, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
Don't worry. Most of us don't like it either.
CursedPhantom D - December 23, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
I'd get it if they make some games for it alone, and they'd have to either be great gameplay wise, have wifi (a must) and have great stories.
Otherwise, no.
Ryussei no Rockman - December 23, 2008 08:21 PM (GMT)
Well there is a mention in the Wiki article about it having access to a store similar to the Wii Shop one. And it has update-able firmware.
That's about the only thing that would change my mind on buying it, other than that my thoughts remain about the same as my former one.
Kayle - December 23, 2008 08:24 PM (GMT)
The store might be pretty cool. Could be worth getting on that note. But, probably not.
The Trix Rabbit - December 23, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
The biggest things drawing me towards getting one are: I need to upgrade from a phat, The store with DS Ware games, DSi games, 358/2 may be a DSi title and the DSi may be easily hackable (just as the psp).
Since it use's sd cards, I for some reason am hoping in a custom firmware or something of that nature. But at the same time, there is always 2 flash carts out now for it, and 2 more coming out in the next few weeks.
AroTheHunter - April 22, 2010 03:46 AM (GMT)
Another new DS; the 3DS!
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/03...endo-dsi-xl.arsThis is gonna be so coooool. Backwards compatibility by one generation as usual.
healingpulce_meddy - April 22, 2010 04:10 AM (GMT)
3D...? I'm having second thoughts about this one, I don't know if the system could handle those graphics...
AroTheHunter - April 22, 2010 04:30 AM (GMT)
The 3DS is gonna be huge, so it'll likely have enough of an engine to support decent-looking 3D.
Burn - April 22, 2010 04:36 AM (GMT)
It not just a rehash, its actually going to improve from where the last what, 4 DS were stuck at, atleast what I hope I'm hearing is true.
10megaman - April 26, 2010 04:25 PM (GMT)
Eh, I'd prefer that it would also have GBA compatibility (though, yeah, I don't have a DS, or even a GBA in the first place, but the more compatibility and functionality, the better. The GBA slot would be a necessity.)
