One area in the article that was not clarified but was discussed is that MePGO plans on holding a " First time growers contest " open to anyone in Maine who has NOT grown a giant pumpkin/squash to enter in a Maine Fair or weigh in . We will be using names of new members who sign up between todays date ( Feb 19 , 2012 ) and lets say May 31st.

Those new members will be qualified for cash prizes at 2 planned giant pumpkin contest , one in the Sanford area and the other in Damariscotta in 2012 .

Planned prizes at BOTH locations for NEW growers/members are :

1st $ 200.
2nd. $ 100.
3rd $ 50.

That's a total of $ 700.00 so hopefully we have a large number of new memberships to help pay those amounts .

Whoever wins money at one location cannot win in the second location .
