NPC S'tra of Blue Xath
The Sky's Shadow
Longing tingled across his skin as S'tra watched Elysia carefully, his eyes slowly losing what little control he had, that control replaced by heat and desire. Her voice intoxicated him and he craved more. Her body so close to his as she wove among them, so close he could reach out and pull her against him, caused his skin to quiver, his hands to clench. His composure was lost entirely. He couldn't help the pleased smile on his face, just as he couldn't help the sharp flash of jealousy that flashed in his eyes, his smile, as he watched her step near the other riders as well.
"Does it matter why we Chase?" S'tra asked boldly, unconsciously taking a step towards her.
"We are all after the same beautiful goal." His slight accent became even more noticeable with Flightlust clouding his mind, a slight slurring of words that was lyrical rather than jumbled. Certain syllables were more distinct than others, pronounced slightly differently than the norm. It was the only real way to tell if S'tra was in control of himself. And he certainly was not.
"Only the result really matters," he said, voice dropping seductively. Well, he hoped it was seductive. At this point, he really didn't care. All he wanted was Elysia. Everything else was out of his mind.
And just as S'tra wanted Elysia, Xath wanted Rheyeth. He wanted her with every ounce of his strength. As she led them over the beach and sea, Xath pumped his wings sparingly, wanting to save his strength for a final push. These larger dragons would easily out-distance him if this Flight went on much longer. The lone blue could already feel his wings tiring, the strain on his chest and shoulders already making each wingstrike a challenge. He caught a breeze and cupped his wings, letting it propel him forwards a few dragonlengths before beating his wings again. When Rheyeth cupped her wings and dove, Xath was only an instant behind. Finally! A move of agility he knew he could perform better than any other Chaser! The others were simply too large, too bulky for such aerial feats. Flaring his wings wide, Xath bugled jubilantly as the spray from the ocean washed across his hide, refreshing in its coolness. Just the jolt he needed!
I follow until the end, beautiful one! Xath called out as he beat his wings strongly in order to rise with the red female before him. He bugled assent to his words.
For even tomorrow you will be my queen!S'tra barely stifled a groan as Xath's wings strained under the pressure to keep up with the larger red. But e had other things to focus on. Like Elysia. He very nearly growled when she touched Do'van, having to catch himself as he took a step forward possessively not to continue forward and risk a fight. Though Flightlust made him extremely cocky and confident, a fight was never a good accompaniment to Flight. In fact, it was a sure way to ruin one. But shards if S'tra didn't want to rip Elysia away from Do'van in those moments... And then she was beside him, with the barest breath of air between his body and hers, her voice in his ear, her breath on his neck... This time he couldn't help the groan of longing that escaped him, nor the step he took when she left him for another rider. The same jealousy stabbed his stomach as she touched the others, the same anger. Was he not worthy to be touched? The bluerider grunted to himself. That would need to be changed.
Her murmur was the only permission he needed. Stepping forward boldly, S'tra stopped within mere inches of Elysia, his eyes filled with longing though his smile was softer, if not by much.
"Let me show you what a trader's hands can do," he said without thinking, in that moment surrendering himself completely to Xath, urging the blue to chase with every last ounce of strength. Xath bugled in response, but S'tra was already focused on Elysia once again, a subtle difference in his eyes and posture the only sign he had completely let go. Smiling and knowing the second meaning to his words, S'tra softly ran a hand down the skin of Elysia's arm, trailing it to her hand which he drew to his lips to kiss. He expected another rider to rip him away at any moment, so his eyes never left Elysia's. He doubted he could have looked away even if he'd wanted to. And her hair...he desperately wanted to caress it, to tangle his hands in it...he actually noticed that the hand not holding hers was already playing with the hair at the base of her neck. So much for control. He slid that hand down her shoulder and to her waist, slowly and carefully, trying to draw out every desire while trying to control his own.
"I hope we can continue this later." With another kiss to her fingers, S'tra forced himself to step away though it was with the utmost reluctance on his part. If he didn't he would not be able to control his actions. He would have taken her right then and there. He needed to step away in order to give her a choice. But he did not step back far. He was there, making his presence and desire known. He lost all thought as he concentrated fully on Xath's efforts.
The blue was almost relieved to notice that Rheyeth was beginning to tire. Almost because he knew the hardest part was still to come. The final push, the final chance to prove himself worthy of her. Driving his wings hard, Xath caught every stray breeze he could, using them to propel him farther, faster after her. Her larger wingspan definitely gave her the advantage--as it did every other dragon chasing save him--but he was a blue! He was built for speed! Making himself as streamlined as possible, Xath crooned to Rheyeth as he followed, even going so far as to corkscrew in his flight when it would not hinder his progress.
Simply speak to me again, red queen! the blue called out, his voice filled with yearning.
Just let me hear your voice! Even should you choose another this day, just the sound of your voice will keep me content. Xath's breathing was becoming labored. Keeping up with such larger dragons was definitely taking its toll on him. If this didn't end soon, he was pretty sure his wings would fall off.
I will follow you beyond exhaustion, beyond the seas if only to hear your melodious voice, see your beautiful form! Grace embodied you are! And then Xath hadn't the breath for more words. His lungs burned as if he'd inhaled firestone. His hearts beat furiously to keep up with the energy he needed just to stay aloft, let alone catch the red beauty before him. His shoulders burned with even the slightest change in wind or breeze that threw off his tenuous rhythm. The smallest dragon chasing was very near the limits of his endurance. But he would struggle on. Until his red queen had chosen a mate, he would struggle on. Even if his wings did fall off.
