LON ROLE PLAY RULES


Basic Typing in 3rd person

Just like most board RP's, this board RPG is text based. Which involves you to role play in a story format for example:

*he thought to himself while he walked past the bridge he encountered ninja*

Hank: Bring yourself forth, I can sense you

The most common way of representing action and thoughts are asterisks for actions, and placing the name of the speaker with a colon and then the thought of spoken word... But you can use different text to represent your characters inner thoughts.

It is almost like writing a book but a bit shorter.

While posting you can chat directly to the other member, this is called OCD ( On Character Discussion) which here I'll give an example of it:

now some tips in rp'ing...

- Grammar

Last measure please dont use any slang such as "wtf", "wut", "ic", and so on, please keep the grammar without slang language. Use correct spelling(spell check was made for a reason),punctuation, and capitalization. Also be sure you proof read a post before posting it onto an actually topic or post reply. The only place where grammar is not as important is the 'Chat' section.

- One liners/undiscriptive.

Don't type onelined poorly written lines as a reaction or attack while fighting- or action in rp... it is stupid and shows how iliterate you are... it also turns away the other rp'er or makes him/her not put any effort in his/her posts.

Also be descriptive, don't type paragraphs with the blandest form of writing... say what your doing, where is yuor hands, what you see in her head when you imagine yuor reactions or attacks.

EXAMPLE:

bad:
[spoiler]
Hank sees the fire ball and dodges it. He grab a kunai and tosses it at Kab.
[/spoiler]

Good:
[spoiler]
Hank breathes deep as he see the fireball coming. It was his own attack but thanks to Kab using the replacement tech he was facign it down. As hs lungs fill with air, he exhales as his lunages his whole body backwards dodging the fire by mere inches. Right before he lands he tosses a kunai with all his might at Kab's torso.

GOD MODDING

Now that we get the hang of RPing a bit, I'm going to be explaining about God Moding which is one aspect that occurs in most RPs. The meaning of god moding is to make your character act as if he or she is god, which I'll explain.

Don't do this, it isn't power... it just cheating... everyone starts as a genin so you learn how to grow. If you do this people will get upset and not want to play with you anymore.

Hitting some other member's character while not letting them react


Here is an example where this is shown:

Hank grasped his sword, then nimbly slashed Kab in his chest, making Kab lose a great amount of blood and knocking him back immensely.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here you can see that Hank slashed Kab without letting Kab have a chance to post a reaction. The correct way would have been like this:

Hank grasped his sword, then nimbly slashed Kab, aiming near his chest.

After this Kab can post his reply if he either dodged the slash or received the damage.



Controlling some other member's character without there permission


Here is an example where this is shown:

Hank grasped his sword, then nimbly slashed Kab opening a deep gash, which caused blood shed. As Kab stood up panting, he rushed at Hank but in a split second got slashed by another nimbly strike through his heart.

Here Kab isn't the first guys character, thus meaning Hank is not allowed to control Kab without Kab's creator's permission first. Hank doesn't know how Kab would attack, and it's god moding to control someone else's character.

Dodging Continuously ( too much)


Here is an example where this is shown:

Hank panted, his arm dripping with blood where Kab had stabbed him. It was time for desperate measures now. Holding up a large fireball that could evaporate water within a few seconds, the boy smirked and threw it at Kab, controlling it and stretching it out so it was bound to hit him.

Kab smiled as the large fireball advanced towards him. The situation seemed hopeless, but he covered himself with a layer of water. Even though the fire should be able to evaporate the water, he knew he could survive. The boy ran into the fireball, coming out untouched, the layer of water shielding him.

It was stated that the fireball could evaporate water, yet Kab was unharmed. That can count as god moding, since Hank's sitting there bleeding from a large wound and Kab's standing there with pride and without a single mark on him while they are both at the same level. It's only fair that both characters of the same level take hits. If one character is a higher level, it just seems right the lower level will take a few more hits.



Killing some other member's character without the member agreeing to


Here is an example where this is shown:

Hank gritted his teeth together and appeared behind Kab, stabbing through his heart with his sword. After all, these matches were fought until the death. He signed up himself. The boy pulled the sword out and staggered backwards, wheezing.

Even though this is the situation as stated in the post, was where one character must die, Hank should have talked to Matt first through PM ( Personal Message), IM ( Instant Message), or some other type of communication to see if it was okay. Kab maybe would've surrendered instead of dying.




Other aspects of fighting/Role playing

- Deciding a Winner or Loser

While deciding a winner and a loser is a bit quite tough, since most members wont be willing to lose yet everyone has to know there limits of there characters. It is as if saying that a 8 year old were facing a 13 year old who has more experience and training, while the 8 year old comes up with some type of uberish move and beats the 13 year old. People got to get the sense to lose when needed, like to die, faint, get beat up, and so on. If your character was exposed to poison don't be making him fight and beating people up for 2 hours or so as if nothing had happened to him or her.


- Learning Jutsu

Now to the aspects of learning new jutsu, you got to post that your character is training either to learn a new technique/move, overcoming a weakness, or improve a trait, don't just go from being all weak with little knowledge and god modding by defeating everyone with a technique or so, you understand which is one reason you got to train to gain the knowledge and strength. There is no one who go from knowing nothing to suddenly be a master mind. While making a character please make sure you put sense into him/her, since for example we dont want like a small little frail kid holding a humongous mace and swinging it as if it were a mere butter knife.


- Character Weaknesses

Please keep all your weaknesses of your character intact at all times, for example dont go from not liking heights and making your character walk by them like nothing ever happened. Which is one reason you have to train your character in overcoming the weakness ( Improving Trait).


- Jutsu Use/preparation in combat

In fights you may have preparations or loose track of your jutsus uses...
just type out uses and preps (jutsus or attack you have prepared)

example:

(enough for an E jutsu) (normally you would have to say the jutsu- but if you wish to hide your plan from your opponent just leave clues in your post and leave the "prep" as the jutsu rank.

Kab smiled as the large fireball advanced towards him. The situation seemed hopeless, but he threw forced his hands together and waited for the moment. He switched places with his foe and laughed.

As he switched places he used the chargd chakra and preformed his own replacement throwing Kab directly infrotn of the ball of flame.

"Don't try and use my own jutsu against me!" hank yelled.

Kab was struck by the ball of flame, and was still off guard when the second replacemnt tech was used. His shirt was burned off, and hsi skin scorned. He bite his lip throug hthe pain and rubbed some small flames out.

"Ok, I give... got some ointment...this might get infected..." Kab said back. Lifting his hand in the sky as hsi other was lgihtly touching his burns.

Hank walked over and helped up his new friend they walked to the hospital together laughing.

As Kab walked with Hank he wondered if thsi was the start fo a friendship or a heated rivalry.

Now see that great fight... they showed their opponents their moves while still keeping a smart play on things... the "used" and "preps" marks just depict a short summary of what happened in the posts above. At NO TIME shall you just post those marks as your post, nottice how the example has no one liners and is descriptive.
