Flare skulked around in the forest, the old wound on her leg causing her much pain. She let out a sleight whimper, unable to stop herself, but nobody was around to hear it so that was ok! Well...at least. Flare heard a twig snap not far behind her, and instincts made her creep away behind one of the tall over towering trees. Her eyes bright and watchful, Flare waited for the newcomer to come closer. She had a sudden idea and, as she was feeling in a playful mood, Flare closed her eyes and tried to summon her fire. It was hard, the power did not like coming to Flare unless she were angered. However, gradually Flare felt the familiar energy flow through her veins. Keeping focused, Flare transformed the energy into a vine of fire which she sent towards the newcomer. The vine should wrap itself round the stranger, constricting movement, but not burning its prey. Flare had directed the vine of fire so it was relatively cold. Licking fresh blood from her lips, Flare crept back out from behind the tree to watch the show...

Dina crept through the forest, her paws making almost no movement at all, just the odd twig cracking under her feet. She could hear someone moving up ahead, but they weren't visible through the darkness of the trees. She stopped staring through the trees straining her eyes, gradually she started to see a heated figure moving through the trees, red in the center gradually moving outwards to orange. It was another wolf, she turned off her infra-red and moved swiftly towards the figure. Glad to have found someone in this deserted land.
The wolf moved out of view, she tried to see where it had gone as she moved closer. She froze as a vine of fire swiftly moved out from behind the tree, breathing heavy. Jerkily she stepped back, she was scared now, and as she did a shock wave erupted from her body, mostly out of shock. It shook the flame as it grew nearer, but it wasn't powerful enough to stop it. Scared she heard the other wolf move out from behind the tree, against her instincts she looked past the flame and into the eyes of the other wolf. Her eyes flicked back to the flame and she tried to conjure a shock wave directed at it, but she couldn't. The flame was nearly at her, panicking she lay flat on the ground wishing for it to go away. She closed her eyes and as she did another shock came from her, this time much more powerful, as it hit the trees around her they shook and the flame withered. It slowed down, as if being more cautious. She lay there hoping the other wolf wouldn't abuse there gift and hurt another wolf with it.

Flare hesitated, and then let the fire in her power be replaced by an ice. The ice, which was her own personality, quelled the fire and destroyed the fiery creation. Slowly Flare came out from her hiding place, and looked the new wolf up and down.
"I am sorry, I did not wish to harm you. It's my way of greeting others", Flare explained in a low throated growl.
Flare moved with caution, softly padding nearer to the other across the earthy ground. She felt her paws flatten some grass as she continued to move, leaving an imprint in the green blades. She was rather curious about this other wolf, ever since she saw her fire creation being stopped by some sort of...shock? The powerful muscles in her legs rippled as she prowled, getting closer and closer until she stopped only inches away from the other wolf.
"My name is Flare"
Flare knew she was most likely taking a risk; at this distance the other wolf could easily take a swipe at her face or anything really. But Flare had been unfair, misusing her powers. If the other wolf decided to engage her in a fight, then it was only what Flare deserved. Flare waited patiently...

Dina looked up into the others eyes as the flame turned to ice then died away, maybe if it had been a deer it would have been alright. But another wolf? Her heart was beating fast, this wasn't like anything she'd experienced before. Did she always act like this, Dina was cautious as she moved closer. Was this a decoy just to trick her.
"I am sorry, I did not wish to harm you. It's my way of greeting others" The other wolf spoke Dina didn't know what to say. She stood up the other wolf wasn't far from her.
At least she hadn't hurt her, but a way of greeting others, what on earth was she thinking. Maybe she was troubled, hurt, or just being cautious in these strange and dark lands. She spoke again, this time much more friendly. Dina decided not to attack, after all she had never been in a real fight before. "Dina." One word, thats all. She decided to say more, "Its OK, but you did get me really scared there." The other wolf was a lot older than Dina, at least two years. She was much more experienced, and Dina must respect that, but if it came to it Dina would stand up for her self.

"Dina"
Flare relaxed somewhat; the other wolf had decided not to engage in a fight. Flare was not cruel by nature...the reason she misused her gift was mainly because she did not like to let strange wolves get too close to her. She feared that they might try to hurt her and, from past experience, Flare knew how traumatic injuries could be both mental and physical.
"It's ok, but you did get me really scared there."
Flare felt sceptical of this statement as she could easily see that this wolf, although younger then Flare, was tough enough to stand up for herself. Flare felt the wound on her leg blister and sting and, giving a muffled yelp of pain, turned her attention to the wound. She began to lick at the cut, trying to soothe the burning. Not long after the pain numbed, and Flare was able to stand back up. She turned and walked away as though nothing had happened.
"I was going to find some water...get a drink", Flare growled to Dina behind her, "I'm not used to having company but, if you want, you could come with me?"
Flare had suspicions that Dina would refuse the offer, and felt a tad disappointed. She would have rather enjoyed having someone around to talk to for a change. Flare had encountered few other wolves so far...

Scare her, Scare her! Dina was the one who was frightened out of her wits from just being attacked. And yet she was surprisingly calm, over joyed that there was another wolf about. She watched as she licked her wound, it looked bad, Dina had never really had any bad cuts before. But that one looked nasty. She kind of wanted to get out of this forest, she had kept seeing things before she ran into this stranger. "OK" she said, following the wolf, hoping she knew the way to water as Dina certainly didn't. Her mind was still on the cut, it must be putting her in a lot of pain, but she didn't seem that bothered by it. It must be an old wound or something.

"Ok"
Flare was suprised but grateful that Dina had accepted her offer, and confidently lead the way into the woods. Her sharp ears and keen senses had picked up the sound of trickling water nearby, so Flare was simply following the noise. As she moved, Flare heard the trickling of water becomming louder. It must be a waterfall. Why else would the water be trickling like that?
"I feel that I should be clearer about earlier...I am truly sorry", Flare growled softly as they made their progress towards the water, "The truth is, although I am rather old I am new to these lands. I can get rather wary of stranger's...but I suppose thats a poor excuse. I should not have misused my powers"
The water was thundering now, and Flare could even see spray's of blue and white being tossed into the air not far off. It was a waterfall. A magnificant giant of falling clear water. They had hit te jackpot. Flare gave a satisfied bark, to signal to Dina that they were reaching their destination....

As soon as they turned in the direction Dina heard it, the sound of water. Maybe it was because she was in such a rush to get out of here that she hadn't heard it. After all it was usually Dina who could find things quicker, with her heightened senses, but not today. It prove to her that experience really does count in new lands. She was glad that Flare had said she was sorry, it made her feel better. Also that she was knew to the lands, at least she wasn't the only one who was going to get lost. She didn't say anything after her apology, but looked ahead to where they were heading. A waterfall. When she barked she trotted up to catch her up. And opened up to a beautiful waterfall. She smiled, walking up to the waters edge and taking a drink, she wasn't to thirsty, but another few hours of travel and she would have been.

Flare stepped up to the water confidently, and started to lap up some of the cool water; allowing drops to dribble over her fur. Then Flare turned away from Dina, and made her way to a small rock puddle that had been created from the spray of the waterfall. Their, she dipped her paw in, and allowed icy water to soothe her old wound. It felt so good. Flare gave a soft growl of satisfaction, then brought her paw out and turned back to Dina.
“The waters good…clear anyway”, she said softly.
The wind had started to pick up, cascading more white spray up and about in the air. Flare shivered reflexively when a large amount of water was sent spiraling into the air, then crashing down onto her fur. She shook her fur to dislodge the icy liquid, having the time of her life. Then she suddenly bounded forward and leapt into the waterfall, making a soft splash. At first her entire figure was submerged beneath water, and then Flare had brought her head up and was swimming powerfully in the water. She barked again, eyeing Dina with a playful look. Flare could sometimes act younger than her age…not that it was really a problem…

Dina watched her go and bath her cut, surely she was in pain, but she didn't seem that bothered. When she jumped into the water Dina followed. Making a huge splash. Dina didn't have to act young, she already was, and this was a perfect opportunity. She swam through the water bringing her head above water and standing in the deeper shallows she only her head was above water. It was a beautiful pool, and she water was cool, and yet seemed to warm her body through. She smiled at Flare and gave a small bark. Splashing water everywhere with her paw, and sending sparkling droplets flying back into the waterfall. She jumped back in and swam around, coming closer to Flare, splashing her paws purposely in the water as she went.

Flare watched as Dina splashed her paws in the water, and then ducked her head under water again for a minute or so. However, when she brought it back up again, Flare's keen eyes spotted a dim shadow falling on the pond. She felt herself shiver in the water, splashing frantically to the shallows for a closer look. Whatever was casting the shadow was tall...that much Flare could tell. Alarmed, Flare spun and began to wade back into the water frantically with her paws kicking like a drowning animal. She finally reached Dina, and gave the other an urgent nudge with her head, whining to get Dina to understand.
"I don't like this...there's something watching. Maybe we could set up an ambush...y'know, or we could just leave. Either way, as it stands it is dangerous staying in these waters"
Flare would have moved quicker, swimming powerfully as she knew she could; but she wanted to make sure Dina got safely back onto land as well. Briskly, she gave another half-whine half-bark; the water which had at first seemed so welcoming now a constricting force of darkness. It was as if the water was turning to ice around them; constricting movement and sneering in the foreign tongue of evil at them both. The wound on Dina's leg was stinging madly, sending her crazed and hindering her simultaneously....

Dina spun round as Flare splashed towards her, she could sense it to, and yet Flare seemed to be panic stricken about it. Dina followed her, she could sense the water closing in around them. The shadow on the small pond. She looked up and saw something that made her stop for an instant, a group of what looked like giant birds circling the sky about them. Obviously meat eaters, but Dina was sure that birds wouldn't eat wolves, there must be something else near by or in the pond that they were after. Her mind cast back to the cut on Flares leg, could they smell the blood? They reached the edge and splashed out, Dina staring up into the sky "Its in the sky" she said, quite calmly and yet very quietly, with a wondering on what they were doing, this had never happened to her before. Shaking her self slightly sending shimmers of water everywhere, her eyes on the sky above them watching the circling birds. They looked big, to big to be real.
(That's OK)

Now that Flare was out of the water, she was able to use her power over fire and felt the ability coursing freely through her body. Her eyes narrowed skyward, hearing Dina's words, but she did not hurt the circling monesters that flew above them. Flare knew it would be wrong to hurt them unless they attacked. So she decided to wait for them to pass over, but they didn't. One of them swooped low with a highpitched screech, causing Flare to give a bark of alarm and tumble backwards to avoid an attack. Fire now raging as an inferno in her eyes, Flare created several vines of flame and shot them at the singular bird that had attacked. There was a swirl of movement, a blast of heat, and then the bird was back on the floor thrashing against the fiery bonds that now resttricted it and screeching a deafening sound. Watching as all of the other birds that had arrived flew off in fear, Flare turned to Dina.
"What do you think...should I let this filth go or not?", she said in a growl gesturing to the bird....

Dina ducked as the bird swooped and stepped back slightly as it got caught in the fire and slammed against the ground. She heard the faint swishing of the other bird feathers as they scattered in the sky above them. It looked so helpless, and didn't seem to be much of a threat, it was only trying to eat after all. And it was only a short while ago that Dina her self had nearly been caught in those dangerous flames. She stepped forward lowering her head and sniffing it, being careful not to get to close. She put out her paw and touched a part of it that wasn't covered in flames. Sending shock waves through its body. It jumped slightly as she did it, but it woulnd't hurt it, just a warning not to mess with her. She turned to Flare, and sighed "I think he's learnt his lesson, after all, he was only trying to get some food" She walked back over to Flare, the bird must be young, it was very stupid to attact a wolf.

As Dina reasoned with Flare, but at the same time shocked the bird, Flare stepped back up to the writhing mound and crouched low. She was going to let it go, of course she was. It did appear harmless enough anyway. Thinking of this now Flare focused on her powers, and the flames wrapped around the bird glowed blue and then withered and died into a pile of black ashes. The bird squawked and hurridly rocketed back into the air, forgetting any pain in might be in for pure fear of being assulted again. Flare gave a snarl as it left, that turned into a howl to say the bird was not to return.
"The birds not the only one thats hungry", Flare said softly turning back to Dina, "I think we should be more catious now, although I doubt the bird will return. Strange really, the fact that he would attack a wolf in the first place. Mighta smelt blood..."
