Forum Rules Hey! You! Listen up!

1. Don't be inane. By that I mean don't post with a "me too" or a "yay!" It makes you look like a simpleton.

2. Fight the urge to kill everyone you see. If you just start doing things to people, without giving them a chance to respond, you'll most likely make someone pull out the ignore-a-tron.

3. Don't just assume that your shite works. Someone might just be immune, and worse, they might take offense at you thinking that their character would be affected. TRY to do things by all means, but don't just assume they happen.

4. Give the person you're attempting to interact with a chance to interact back - otherwise you're just gaming with yourself (which sounds kinda dirty).

5. Keep it PG-13 unless the thread specifies otherwise. I'd most certainly ignore someone that sodomized corpses, raped, or f*ckin' cussed all the d##m time. C'mon, you know how I am about that stuff. :)

And always remember: ICA = ICC. In-Character Actions mean In-Character Consequences. You have been warned.

Okay, this is an idea I came up with, and I just want to gage interest. Post if you'd be up for it.

----
Chimera Role Play
Okay, folks, this RP is based off my own little bit of fiction I’ve been writing. See this fics section of the forum for more details. Only in this RP, I’m not restricting people to my characters, but I encourage people to draft their own.
Basically, this RP is set in a little bit of the future. Say twenty, maybe thirty years from now.

The Bio-genetics firm InSyn, has created a way to augment human DNA with that of animal DNA. The result is a permanent hybrid between the two. Think something akin to a werewolf. And when I say permanent, I mean it. This technology is still very new, very dangerous, so most of the modern world, including most governments and sciences has no idea it even exists. The end result is that anyone who undergoes it is forever changed, has strength, speed or senses beyond anything before, but can’t exactly enter public without someone going “OMG Monster!”

The actual augmentation process is accomplished by injections of retro-viruses, growth steroids and other drugs into a sedated, bed-ridden person. This rebuilding phase takes two weeks in the fiction, plus another six weeks of physical and speech therapy to be able to walk and speak again. (Given this is an RP, the process can be shortened up some.)

Characters can start as an existing hybrid, or as human. But if a human character decides to take the augmentation, it’s not reversible. Hybrids can only be accomplished with animal DNA of the same gender, and mammals. (I’m striving for realism here, so avians and reptiles would create too much conflict in the DNA to work.) You are free to choose any mammal you want, but predators are recommended, given their natural hunting abilities.

If you want an animal augmentation, the best way is for your character to work with the mercenary firm Brewer that is partnering with the biogenetics firm InSyn. Working for Brewer means that you have to take on missions from time to time, and no freelancing. Getting the augmentation also means that you are bound to Brewer, and you can’t quit, at least at the start. (Where would you go?)

You are free not to work for Brewer as well, but for the moment you have to do it as human only. You can work for any other organization, such as freelancing mercenary, the US military, etc. If you come into conflict with Brewer, that’s fine, but no godmoding. This is realistic military combat. Working freelance also means that you have to pay for your own equipment; and unless you’re somehow uber-rich, this means that you can’t have the best of everything.

Characters, human or animal, should preferably be on teams. Teams of should be no more than about five or six, maybe seven people at the most. There will need to be a team leader and second in command, and here’s the important part. If you are given an order by a superior IC, you have to follow it. This is military, people, so insubordination without a very good reason will get your character booted from the RP. (I’m not saying you can’t question an order, but deliberately disobeying one without reason is a no-no.)

This goes without saying, but an order from a RP admin, or the general mod team is to be honored as well.

Teams can be banded or disbanded on the fly (with the team leader’s approval), but working together with the same people is advised.

Characters are allowed one area of specialty, and up to two talents.

Specialties include: Demolitions , Hacking, Sniper, Stealth, Medic, Heavy Weapons (heavy machine guns, rocket launchers, etc), Flyboy, etc. Leadership can double with any of these. Every team should have no more than one of any type, and if you come up with one not listed, I’m open for it.

Talents include: Hand-to-Hand combat – Boxing, certain types of martial arts; Multilingualism - speaking other languages, Interrogation, Persuasion, etc. You can’t have more than one type of say, hand-to-hand combat. You can’t be familiar with Judo, and be a black belt in something else or a boxer, for example. I’m pretty open to what talent a person may want, so long as it’s in reason.

Example: My character Recoil in the fiction is the team hacker, and posses undefined martial arts skills. But he’s not good with a sniper rifle, or can’t speak another language, etc.

Equipment: First off, remember that your character will have to carry most of their equipment. So if you give them an armor suit, a rocket launcher, demo charges, more ammunition than God, remember that’s going to get heavy, fast.

Armor: Brewer agents have access to a full body suit of armor, that’s stronger than Kevlar. It can take most caliber rounds, but has trouble with armor piercing types, anything above .50cal, and fragmentation grenades. The armor comes in plates that protect significant parts of the body, but there are gaps. It’s lightweight, no more than thirty pounds, but does limit some range of motion and gets hot and stuffy. The combat helmets included have gas filters, tactical lights and limited night vision.

Best example of what it looks like, sans boots, gloves and helmet is :
For female characters: http://zeromark.deviantart.com/art/Hybrids-Shade-73774834
For male characters: http://zeromark.deviantart.com/art/Hybrids-Timber-60119557

Other armors are left up to the imagination of you all, but there is no armor that is “everything proof.” If your armor is resistant to high grade ammunition you’re going to have to come up with a very good reason or technobabble behind it. Also note that being shot in an armor suit, means that you still feel the impact of the round and any bruising or other damage that might cause. You just can’t shrug off hits.

Weapons: For the sake of simplicity, let’s not deviate too much from standard FPS weapons. No energy based weaponry, and remember that your character will have to carry ammunition with them. Combat knives and blades are certainly within reason, but I doubt any blade, no matter how sharp can cut through armor like a hot knife through butter. No energy blades, either.

Gadgetry: Some James Bond things can apply here, but not a lot. Brewer agents can carry handheld hacking machines, say the size of an oversized iPhone, but they’re not invincible either. Try to keep it in terms of the real world.

The only mechanic I have not worked out is how I would set missions up. I’m open to suggestions on that.

Example character profile: (You don't have to post one yet. This is just an example of what one might look like.)

Name: (Your characters name.)
Codename:
Gender:
Species: (Human, or which animal morph)
Specialty: (Demo, Hacker, Sniper, etc)
Talent: (See above)
Employ: (Who do you work for? Or freelance? )
Physical appearance: (What your character looks like)
Bio:(Your character’s background, personality, etc)

EDIT:
Another few notes-
Brewer's main base is in Oregon, but they maintain smaller facilities elsewhere, as well as rent small bases/airstrips when the time is right. Brewer also posses a lot of neat toys to play with; Stealth jets, drop pods, armored cars, vans, RV's. Even a boat or two.

And it's roughly PG-13 people.

Name: Iwan (pronounced "Ivan") Schleff
Age: 26
Codename: Invisible
Gender: Male
Species: Black Leopard splice
Specialty: Stealth
Talents: Climbing (No need for a rope)/Nonincapacitative Inibreation(Basically retains motor skills [within reason] while piss-drunk)
Employ: Brewer
Physical appearance: Slightly short, and wirey. Deep black eyes that seem to suck the light from the surrounding area, and walks with a slight hunch.
Bio: Iwan Schleff was a German spy, who crashed into a remote Brewer compound. Upon trying to eject from his stealth jet, his pack caught on a piece of shrapnel, tearing it open and rendering it useless. He was found, broken and fatally wounded, and rushed into a Brewer hospital. They brought him back to concsiousness, and told him that he had a very short time to live. That is, unless he wanted to undergo a program to be spliced with an animal. The only catch was that he work for Brewer. Not seeing any other choice, he accepted. Being that he was an avid studier of big cats, or at least he liked to watch television programs containing them, he chose a black leopard, to compliment his stealthiness. He was then airlifted to the base in Oregon, and the proceedure was undergone. Months later, he begins his service under Brewer as a Private...

Name: Adrian Kerr
Codename: Singe
Gender: Male
Species: Coyote splice
Specialty: Demolitions
Talent: Poker player - he can read people fairly well
Employ: Brewer
Physical appearance: Medium build and height, roughly in shape. A penultimate fan of hooded sweatshirts when not on a mission. Midnight red eyes, with gray fur running down his back, outside of the arms, and a lighter tan on the chest and underbelly. Smaller tail compared to other hybrids.
Bio: Originally part of the Navy SEALS, he was honorably discharged after a black op went awry and the brass wanted to kept it quiet. He tried police work for a while, but was recruited by Brewer only a few months after. While ice cold on missions, he is a generally likable guy, aside from the occasionally fiery temper. Patient, almost to a fault. (When you work with explosives, you have to be) Just don't take him on in cards, or he'll have your money, keys to your car and the clothes off your back in little time.

Other things I should note:

Any character undergoing the animal augmentation is permanently stuck in the hybrid form. You can't morph back to a human, or the core animal the splice came from. So the choice to become a hybrid must not be taken lightly.

Brewer posses about 100-125 active agents, some on permanent teams, most as part of a general pool to draw from for solo or temporary teams formed for one or two missions. There is also an extensive support crew; including engineers that design and manufacture most of the equipment used by Brewer operatives, a home based hacker core team for breaking computer networks, an extensive medical staff, etc. (This means NPCs, and hybrid ones as well)

Moph's is an RP admin now, as well.

Extinct mammals can be done, within some reason. Anything extinct must have DNA on file or still in existence to be within the realm of possibility. Check with Moph or myself, and you'll need some technobabble to back it up.

For the record, if someone wanted to pick up one of the existing five characters from the fiction, I have no problems with that, but I still encourage you to make your own.
They're here: http://zeromark.deviantart.com/gallery/#Hybrids

As for posting requirements, we can work that out, but we have to let people catch up, boys and girls. If someone goes on vacation in IRL and we're in the middle of a mission, we have to suspend play, or allow said person to come up with a clause to why their character isn't there, and how they'll catch up when they get back.

You can give your character whatever rank you choose, but the team leader character will be elected, regardless of rank.

Physical appearance: Formerly a petite Indian woman, now a mass of bristling coarse black fur and muscle. 5'1" and approximately 220 pounds. Stocky, heavy build. Long, prehensile tail that acts as a fifth hand. Her eyes retain a lot of their almondish human shape and are dark brown.

Bio: Tanvi was born into a highbrow, influential Indian family. Her father owned a successful conglomerate and her mother was active in several global charities.
But that wasn't enough for her.
By her late teens, she had joined a militant revolutionary group in the Gaza strip. Most of her weapons training comes from that time.
Now, at a surprisingly stable 26, she has volunteered for the animal splicing and is looking for work...

Decepticons' latest plan to invade playgrounds

Name: Barnaby "Bilby" Balfour
Codename: Hotwire
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Species: Thylacine/Tasmanian Devil
Specialty: (Counter) Technical Surveillance/Electrician
Talent: Uncanny Optimism/Some French
Employ: Brewer

Physical appearance: A thylacine splice, Barnaby has light brown fur with slightly lighter fur running on his underbelly from his chin to the base of his tail and gradually covering his lower arms and legs. He has the same tan-ish colored circles around his eyes and two small round ears with tan edges. He has exactly 21 darker brown stripes (and he won't let you forget it) running from below his shoulder blades down to the middle of his tail. He has a long but thin and boney tail, also light brown with faint darker rings on it. His gait is unusual as he tends to sway and bounce when he walks or runs, and it doesn’t help that he’s a bit slumped over most of the time. He also tries in vain to keep his very short hair in a Mohawk. He had his ears pierced several times on each side (he was quite delighted at the prospect of bigger ears) and also has a tongue piercing. He has the typical jaw of a thylacine, meaning he can open his yap up to 120 degrees for a frightening yawn. Because Barnaby also has a bit of Tasmanian Devil in him, he has a few whiskers on his nose and eyebrows and small fangs that stick out over his bottom lip.
Clothing wise, when not on duty, Barnaby is always seen in his beloved, but ragged, leather tie-up vest and fingerless gloves. His jeans are torn (or as he calls them, hand-crafted) and decorated with rings and chains, much to the dismay of security and the metal detectors. When on duty, Barnaby wears a standard outfit of a collared, long sleeved, grey shirt and gray pants with the Brewer insignia embroidered on the shoulders and chest.

Bio: Barnaby was perhaps one of the most rebellious teenagers you’d ever meet. Leather outfits, Mohawks, multiple piercings, body modifications, tattoos…you name it, he had it. He was an electrician at heart, creating his own monstrous clockworks out of toasters and tamagotchis at an early age and his love of all things electrical earned him a job as a counter surveillance officer for the Australian military. Then, his life changed forever at his brother’s bachelor party. Taking a drunken bet, his brother Steve bet him that he couldn’t get married in under a year. Thus, it caused much of an uproar when all his drunken buddies broke into his email and preordered him a Russian bride. Three months later, Miss Natasha Peterkov, at a mere seventeen years old and Barnaby just passing his twenty-second birthday, fell madly in love at first sight. With Barnaby’s military occupation, he gave his young, yet genius, wife everything she wanted; a new silk dress and a MD in medicine. The two have been madly in love ever since and are scarcely seen apart. Four years later, after an extraordinary performance where Barnaby busted a known serial killer with his wire tapping prowess, he was made an offer he couldn’t refuse by Brewer. At almost twice the pay and a chance to live in America, Barnaby was employed by Brewer and enjoyed every minute of it.
When InSyn introduced the gene-splicing program, Barnaby grew curious and began to research the program, despite Natasha’s pleading. Always a fan of body modification, Barnaby ecstatically volunteered, with his reasoning of “Well, at least I won’t go bald by thirty”. His initial choice was a striped hyena, his favorite cackling animal, but InSyn wanted to try a new method on him; a new method that would also include a hefty pay increase. This new technique would take the DNA of extinct animals and splice it with one of the deceased animals’ descendants, with the whole purpose of determining whether or not it was possible to use old, possibly prehistoric, DNA. The “Jurassic Park” method as Barnaby calls it. Using the recently extinct thylacine, InSyn combined the DNA from a preserved thylacine embryo with that of a Tasmanian devil. After much debate and persuasion, Barnaby agreed to give up his hyena dream and successfully became a tazzy tiger/devil. All of his senses are improved, most notably his hearing. His only complaint was an undesired effect from the Tasmanian Devil DNA, where when he becomes agitated he produces an unpleasant odor much like a skunks. Thankfully, his endless abundance of optimism keeps him from becoming nervous (usually).

Barnaby is always in a good mood, no matter if he's chilling with his friends or running ten miles in full gear. Some might even say he's a bit too happy all the time, to the point where his optimisim might be mistaken for morbidness. He always makes a point to wake up with a smile and jumps at the chance to learn something, or someone, new. The only thing that gets him down is pen and paper tests.

Name: Natasha Balfour
Codename: Sheila
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Species: Human
Specialty: Medical
Talent: Multilingualism (English/French/Russian)/Mathematician
Employ: Brewer

Physical appearance: Natasha is tiny and thin, just barely 5’2. She has wispy brown hair done up in a bun and dark brown eyes. She spends most of her days indoors, as is obvious by her pale skin. Her general attire consists of stylish, but conservative blouses, and knee length skirts or pants. She’s not too fond of jewelry, but when she does wear it she loves the bulky, thick necklaces and earrings that Barnaby buys her.

Bio: Born in an impoverished town in Russia, Natasha Peterkov had a very poor and meager childhood. In a desperate chance to give their only daughter a decent life, her parents signed her up for a mail-order-bride program, hoping she’d be able to leave her pathetic life in Russia behind her. She left Russia at barely age seventeen with no skills in English and flew the long, frightful flight to Australia, a continent she never knew existed. Scared and nervous, all her fears and troubles went away when she saw the handsome man with the green Mohawk and eyebrow piercings staring at her in a mock tuxedo with a fistful of dropping roses. Both fell in love at first sight, and when Barnaby asked her what she wanted most, he gave her her favorite green silk dress as a wedding present. She began medical school at the insistence of her husband and realized she loved it. When Barnaby accepted the job at Brewer, she couldn’t have been happier about going to America.
However, when Barnaby began to draw interest in InSyn’s genetic modification program, she begged him not to get involved, but he gradually won her over with his ‘research on animals’ habits’. After the splice, Natasha sat by his bedside and helped him through all his pain, never leaving him unless necessary. She still stands by her husband today, but is the subject of much prejudice in the station. Many of the other women avoid her for being married to an ‘animal’ while the other splices avoid her out of uncertainty. She has expressed little interest in joining her husband in his genetic glory, but Barnaby isn’t giving up hope yet.

Natasha is very quiet and shy. She is very selfconscious of her Russian accent and is still naive in some ways. She loves to be with people, but shys away from the spotlight. When she isn't busy working or learning, she can be found tagging along with her husband or playing tennis.

Codename: Stein
Gender: Male
Species: Horse splice
Specialty: Soldier ((Think multipurpose - good at most everything, but not great at any particular field))
Talent: Running, Boxing
Employ: Brewer
Physical appearance: Dark red brown horse, with a blond mane. Green eyes. Tall, built like a brick house. Disarmingly handsome to both human and splice alike.
Bio: After graduating from high school, he jumped right into blue-collar construction work, while trying his luck on the boxing circuit. He was fine in both, but ultimately wasn't satisfied with either. Recruited by Brewer at 23, and has spent the last five years with them in the general pool of agents. In contrast to Brewer's usual stock; he hasn't had any armed forces training but is quickly rising in the ranks as a capable team leader. An avid fan of sports, he can be a pretty decent guy, and is that stoic, silent type that everybody can rely on. His primary weakness is getting in over his head; he may be a fair fighter with firearms or with his fists, but is overconfident of his abilities.
However, he does have his own dark side, and it nearly cost him his life. While not an alcoholic under the standard definition, a bad car accident when he was 18 caused him to swear off the bottle permanently. While he holds true to this oath as best he can, he is scared of hurting himself, or the people around him. He was one of the more earlier ones to take the augmentation, wanting the extra speed and muscle mass a horse splice would bring him.

Sorry I haven't been online in days, folks.
Real Life, even one of a unemployed college student, smacked me around.
Suffice to say, writing this is on borrowed time - I'm busy today, was all day yesterday, but my first stretch of unadulterated free time will be tomorrow. Friday and Saturday, I'll be lucky if I make it to a computer.

Heya. After we do the hot-drop training, what do you think we should do next?
I've got an idea for a simple surveillance mission, and then after that, maybe something based of the plot of the first Die Hard movie?

Name: Tristan
Age: 23
Codename: In Russia: Sinee; the Russian word for blue
Gender: Male
Species: Russian Blue splice
Specialty: ???
Talent: ???
Employ: ???
Physical appearance: A little less poofy than the actual Russian Blue, Tristan stands at 5' 8" and weighs around 160 lbs. He has bluish black fur(duh).Yer basic standard pose.

Bio:Tristan was a wealthy American tourist visiting prominent cities in Russia. He always had a wanderlust, and had traveled many cities in many countries. Unfortunately, he visited a club in Irkutsk that was much more than it seemed. Apparently, there is a Russian company working independently from the government that had the technology. From what Tristan found out during his recovery, the сращивание company (translated as "splice") had developed or obtained technology to splice humans with animals. Luckily enough for Tristan, they had finished working out the kinks before preforming the test on him.

After the recovery, speech & physical therapy, and all the monitoring to make sure Tristan was a fully functional splice, Tristan had found a way to get out. Through working with the dozen other splices in the compound he was able to make it out alive. Unfortunately, he was the only one. He made his way through Russia, into Mongolia, China, and finally onto a freighter filled with Chinese goods into Oregon. He has been on the run from persuing сращивание agents since.

This character's for a separate team Moph and I have been developing

Name: Fio Enyer
Codename: IceShot
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Species: Polar Bear morph
Specialty: Sniper
Talent: Running, Multilinguism - Speaks Italian fluently
Employ: Brewer

General appearance: Short height, heavy build. Not overweight, but he still has a layer of baby fat. Doesn’t mean he isn’t strong, but he’s often teased in good fun around the Brewer complex. Tattoo on his right shoulder – image of a sailing vessel. Typically is seen in khakis and a simple red shirt. Left ear has a notch in it, from a minor accident in a knife drill.

Personality: Fio is a quiet and reserved individual, hardly the first to start a conversation. He has a dry sense of humor, and can be quite the lady charmer, especially with his eyes. Like most of Brewer operatives he maintains a front of cold efficiency while on a mission, but underneath lurks the kind of person who will sit by his friends, talking late into the night over coffee.

History: Fio Enyer grew up in the care of an orphanage in Hawaii, enjoying a carefree life in the islands. Graduating in the middle of his class in high school, he entered service with the US Marines, and served for three years.

A recognized marksman, he was trained as a sniper. Combat ready but never deployed, he was later dismissed with honors. Although he took work later as a firefighter, he didn’t find it fulfilling as he thought, and was approached by Brewer Incorporated for work as a mercenary.

Existing in the general pool of agents, Fio has since been deployed all over the world, taking out various nefarious figures for local and national governments; a mob boss here, a warlord there. He has worked with some of Brewer’s established teams, even subbing for the Sniper of Team Gladius when their regular sniper was recovering from a bad fall.

When the augmentation process became available to the general pool of agents,
Fio was among some of the first to volunteer, after seeing the power that the main team gained in their process. He received a polar bear morph almost at the last minute – a genetic instability was detected within the Coyote DNA he was set to be augmented with. He has adapted to the new form well, but misses trips to the public beaches.

Name: Aladara Kerios (formerly 2nd Lieutenant)

Codename: Ranger

Gender: Female

Species: Human

Specialty: Sniper

Talent: Mathematical genius and Tactical planning

Employ: Brewer

Physical appearance: Aladara is 5 foot, 8 inches with black shoulder length hair. She is of an average build, though well muscled, but slightly underweight. Her green eyes almost seem like they are staring through whatever is in front of her, even if she is paying close attention to whatever is in front of her.

Armament:

Primary: Accuracy International L96A2 7.62x51mm Sniper Rifle

The L96A2 is a well designed 5 round clip fed, bolt-action magazine that can fire a variety of different 7.62x51mm grade ammunition. In this case, Aladara has it loaded up with the ARR-83 Titanium Armour Piercing rounds, capable of punching through a layer of titanium encased depleted uranium tank armour at top speed

Secondary: Barretta 92 SB 9mm Parabellum Standard Issue Service Sidearm

The 92 SB is also known in the U.S as the M9. It is a standard issue sidearm with a 15 round magazine firing the 9mm Parabellum round, either in FMJ, JHP or Tracer variety. It is a very reliable pistol with a low chance of jamming, and low recoil. Aladara has her’s with a silencer, a green dot laser sight and a flashlight for pinch situations. The magazine load out is simple. The first round is a FMJ round, followed by a JHP round and then a BTR-93/x9 Silver-titanium encased phosphorus Blue tracer round, then the pattern repeats.

Tertiary: Talon Tactical Assault Knife (TTAK)

The TTAK is a very effective combat knife. It is very light and can slice through Kevlar with ease, thanks to its titanium-diamond composite blade. One side of the blade is serrated and one is simply extremely sharp.

Armour:

Chest: Brewer Standard Issue Nano-Fibre Armour Vest

Standard issue Brewer armour

Legs: Kevlar-Weave Assault knee-pads

These are simply standard knee protection gear with Kevlar-weave running through them to provide extra protection against bullet hits.

Arms: Kevlar-Weave elbow-pads

These are simply standard elbow protection gear with Kevlar-weave running through them to provide extra protection against bullet hits.

Bio: Aladara was born on the 22 of January, 1999 in Hereford, Britain. Unlike most would and did expect from her gender, she was never really into ‘girl’ things, preferring to jump the fence and rather play sports than sitting inside and playing with dolls.

She attended the Royal British Military college at the age of 19 and graduated with honours, going on to join the British Armed Forces as a frontline peacekeeper as a 2nd Lieutenant. She saw active duty 7 times as a soldier before her skills with a long rifle were recognized by some higher ups. Put through the process known as ‘Selection’, she passed that with honours and went on to join the British Special Air Service (S.A.S).

She served 4 years in the British armed forces, both the Royal Army and the S.A.S before resigning from service as a 2nd Lieutenant on the 12th of October, 2025 after her orders prevented her from rescuing a family of five, two adults, two children and a baby from being executed by rebels in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

After that, she joined Brewer as a mercenary, hoping that it would allow her to make up for the family that got killed because of her inaction.

Name: Derrick Huxley
Codename: Savan
Gender: Male
Species: Lion
Specialty: Heavy weapons
Talent: Heavy Weight Lifting, Endurance
Employ: Brewer

Weapons:
Primary: XM312 HMG, which he can carry and fire with deadly accuracy without deploying; specifically when wearing his armor which has strength enhancers.
Secondary: M60 Light Machine Gun

Physical appearance: Derrick stands at 7'2" and weighs in at 340 lbs. He's a bit chunky, but that only covers the his raw power. He has a golden brown mane that's usually left to do whatever, or stuffed under the collar of his body armor. He keeps the hair on top of his head cropped short. He generally wears earthy colors, or a wifebeater when working out.

Bio: Derrick Huxley was born and raised in a small town in Iowa. Being that he was fat as a kid, he got teased incessently until he realized that, with training, muscle grew from the fat. After a few fights, people realized not to mess with him. He has a temper to match his muscles, which he keeps in check most of the time.
After finishing high school, he didn't really know what he wanted to do in life. He took a job at the gym that he begun frequenting, and spent most of his time there, chasing women and training his body. He never completely lost his chubbiness, even though he became quite strong.

At 22, Brewer came to him about joining their ranks. Noticing that the pay, the benefits, and even the gym were way better than his previous job, he became a mercenary. His parents didn't really approve, but he had never had a strong tie to them anyway.

Two years later, a virus swept through his hometown, killing much of the population, including his parents. He had no aunts or uncles, and he hadn't seen his grandmother since he was eighteen. He volunteered for the splicing project when Brewer asked him about it. Another two years pass, and Derrick had recuperated completely with his splice with a African savannah lion. He is now a leader of the temporary team of Emerald.

Name: Lorus Balne
Codename: November Echo Niner-Eight
Gender: Female
Species: Gazelle

Equipment:

1: ELR-ULF Emergency Beacon

It’s a directed frequency beacon designed to broadcast a signal across insane distances to give CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) Teams the location of the downed pilot/s and/or crew, as well as a short message of around 25 characters, usually enough to give rescuers injury reports. There is one downside to it however. Because of the long ranges the beacon has to broadcast a signal, no power can be wasted on encryption of the signal. Anyone and Everyone listening into ULF transmissions will pick up the signal and thus, the location of the downed pilots. The beacon itself also only has enough power to last 12 hours before it can no longer broadcast the beacon signal and shuts down.

2: LZ Red Smoke Beacon

This device is a modified Standard issue smoke grenade. The smoke is coloured red for ultra visibility and it is used to mark out Landing Zones for contested and/or hot areas.

3: Night Vision Goggles

For the obvious reasons, Night Vision Goggles are part of inventory. Green is used because the human retina can determine the most different shades of the colour green.

Handedness: Left

Armament:

Primary: Heckler & Koch MK23 Mod 0 (MK23 USSOCOM)

Ammunition: .45cal ACP

Attachments: Silencer, Green dot laser sight and a flashlight

Description: Her sidearm is really her only effective weapon. Comes with a 12 round magazine and the weapon allows for ambidextrous firing with dual button magazine release and safety caches and a silent hammer drop allowing for silent decocking of the weapon’s hammer before safing it.

Secondary: Talon Tactical Assault Knife (TTAK)

The TTAK is a very effective combat knife. It is very light and can slice through Kevlar with ease, thanks to its titanium-diamond composite blade. One side of the blade is serrated and one is simply extremely sharp.

Vehicle: Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion, Codenamed/Nicknamed ‘NightSeeker’

Crew: 2 pilots Minimum, Optional crew chief, right gunner, left gunner and tail gunner

Carrying Capacity: 37 Soldiers (not including crew)

Weapons: Wingtip mounted MR.50MPCG (Medium Range .50cal Multi-Purpose Chainguns)
M151 40mm HE FFAR (High Explosive Folding Fin Aerial Rocket) pods
AIM-92c Stinger Anti-Aircraft Missiles
XM-218 .50 calibre machineguns (Left door, Right door, Tail hatch)

Description: The Super Stallion is the largest helicopter to date in the US arsenal. Has an external double set carrying hook, and it can carry up to 33,369 kilograms externally and still take off. Lorus has, with the help of several dedicated engineers, equipped hers with stub wings underneath the main engine intakes. On the tip of each wing is an MR.50MPCG with an internal ammunition cache of about 1200 rounds for each weapon, both guns linked to the single trigger. The wings also hold 19-pod M151 40mm HE FFAR pods, one on each wing, giving a total of 38 Rockets to fire. Also on each wing, are two AIM-92c Stinger Anti-Aircraft Missiles, giving the ‘NightSeeker’ a total of 4 to fire.

Unlike most CH-53E’s, Lorus’ is painted stark black with silver patches that form together when the helicopter is flying at ranges of 50 metres or more as an effective night camouflage, the silver patches making the helicopter look like a cloud. The stub wings also encompass two 7,570 litre external fuel tanks that the helicopter uses before running off its primary fuel tanks. These external tanks cannot be refuelled mid-flight like the primary tanks can, they must be refilled on the ground, although these tanks extend the maximum flight time of the Stallion by almost 2 hours before it needs to refuel, either on the ground or mid-flight. Also to the list of modifications, an extra AAS-11002 Chaff Deployment System, giving the helicopter an extra 30 or so Chaff ‘shots’ before the supplies run dry and a Fire Control Radar, not unlike the Longbow Radar system on the AH-64D Apache Longbow. The cockpit has been modified slightly as well. An extra two MFDs (Multi-Function Displays) have been added to the cockpit.

Specialty: Helicopter Pilot
Talent: Advanced Aerial Combat and Aircraft Recognition
Employment: Brewer

Armour:

Head: IDHASS Pilot Control Helmet.

The helmet has an IDHASS control plate across the pilot’s eyes, making the Heads-up-Display appear to be floating in mid-air, rather than on a plane of glass in front of the pilot. The IDHASS has several modes, all of them providing vital information fro the pilot, without having to refer to the other displays. The helmet itself is Kevlar impregnated, designed that way in-case the helicopter is downed, the pilot has some head protection in a ground combat situation.

Torso: Diamond-Back Kevlar Pilot’s Vest

The Kevlar vest is the most basic of protection for pilots. It is simple padded Kevlar in a vest format, designed to provide some protection for maximum mobility. It has several pockets for gadgets, ammo and various forms of different equipment, ranging from flashlights to Thermal Vision Goggles.

Legs: None

Arms: None

Physical appearance: Lorus stands at 5 foot, 5 inches tall, and in all honestly, quiet frail looking. Deep, deep blue eyes and brown fur. She always looks a little scared; mostly due to her shyness of other people in general, even to close friends. Her ears twitch a lot.

Bio: Born on the Eve of Christmas, Lorus was a small child. Small and frail looking from the first day she was born. Born in the QEII hospital, Queensland Australia, she lived up to her Aussie heritage by spending the first Australia Day of her life, watching the cricket.

Her school years were plagued by bullying right up until her graduation of Grade 12, because of her frame and her shyness for other people in general; they took her for an easy target. She was obsessed with rotorary aircraft, already having her pilot’s license and a large knowledge of other helicopter types and models, and tried for a job in the industry. After succeeding for a job, she became a helicopter pilot for the Southern Skies Tours operations, flying tourists around in a Silorsky S-90 JoyHawk. When the company went bust a year later, she volunteered for the Queensland Surf Life-Savers, flying the Westpac rescue helicopter, and performing several rescue missions a week in dangerous ocean low-flying conditions.

22 May, 2012

As a burst of lightening light up the sky, Lorus pushed the helicopter nose down slightly further, compensating for the downward movement with more cyclic power to from the two TurboShaft engines, adding an extra 10 knots to the chopper’s speed.

The cockpit wipers were on full blast, but it didn’t help clear the sheer onslaught of rain assaulting the cockpit. The forward searchlights were sweeping over the rough, rolling ocean below, while the forward cockpit floodlights were lighting up the sky in front of the helicopter, revealing metre upon metre of insane rainfall.

“We’ve reached the last reported location of that boat!” the co-pilot shouted over the sound of the rotors and the rain impact on the glass. Even with their crew radios, they could barely hear each other.

“Commencing standard search pattern!” Lorus replied with a shout of her own, pulling the control column towards her and to the right, bringing the chopper around to continue searching the oceans below.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightening, careened into the hull of the helicopter, searing the paint clean off and annihilating the second engine intake, sending metal debris, sparks and flame straight into the TurboShaft construct.

Sirens instantly lit up in the cockpit. Red lights flashed rapidly all around the cockpit, and instantly, the helicopter was spinning, and falling.

“Engine two is on fire! Hydraulic lines are gone!” the co-pilot shouted, now over the klaxon sirens and fire buzzers as well.

Lorus punched the glass for the fire bottle controls and ignoring her now bleeding and extremely sore hand, she punched the button, activating the fire bottle and putting out the fire. The fire buzzers came to unceremonious stop.

“This is Tango-Two-Four-Niner, Mayday mayday, Declaring emergency!! Lightening strike!” Lorus radioed in. At least they’d know, she thought, as the helicopter smashed into the ocean while falling at 45 kilometres an hour.

----

After Lorus and the other two members of the crew were pulled out of the floating helicopter wreckage two days later, she resigned her volunteer status from the QSLS, unable to continue like she had, upon learning that the capsized tourist boat, along with it’s 23 passengers including 12 children, had sunk without a trace just a few minutes after Lorus’ Mayday call.

She joined the Australian Army 6 months later and spent all of 12 years in active service, participating in the soldier exchange program at the time, and spent 11 of those years serving with American 192nd Airborne Calvary. Discharged from the service honourably with a Bronze Star and her Super Stallion, which the Secretary of Defence had provided her with after she saved his arse from when the Taliban opened fire and immobilized his convoy, by plucking him and the 8 remaining soldiers right out of the battlefield in a
UH-60H Black Hawk, she left looking for more work with less danger, but the same day to day likeness.

The only reasonable answer to that question was Mercenary work. And she didn’t even have to look. Brewer approached her with an offer she would have to have been either piss-drunk or completely stupid to refuse. With pretty much all her connections to the outside world, whether it was friends (who were all dead or simply forgot about each other) or the rest of the world (who thought she was dead, having dropped off the map so completely and effortlessly), she signed up for animal augmentation, figuring being a gazelle would increase her reaction times.

Three years after that, she does insertions and extraction for Brewer teams based from the Oregon HQ base, doing long range covert or loud insertions, sometimes even with the assistance of re-fuelling aircraft mid-flight. For when the teams need assistance, her modified CH-53E comes into play, sporting Anti-Aircraft Missiles, High Explosive Rockets and wingtip mounted .50cal Chainguns.
