Title: Rave Master

Known as Groove Adventure Rave in Japan.

I've sorta been getting into this one lately. I'm actually downloading all 51 fansubbed Japanese episodes. They also show it Saturday night on Toonami (where I live, anyway). I've seen the first ep in Japanese and American, and a handful of clips from the next few American eps, and I kinda like it, even though the show has a distinct music theme, and I'm hardly part of that culture...

In any case, all I know of the show is the first episode, and cutscenes from a GBA game that came out recently. If you know more than I do, feel free to correct me.

50 years ago, Gale Glory, using the power of the Rave Stone, was on the verge of destroying an evil magic known as Darkbring. Darkbring broke itself into pieces and spread across the world (Inuyasha, anyone?). To keep tabs on Darkbring, Rave also broke itself up and scattered.

Now Haru Glory, Gale's son, is out searching for the Rave pieces. Alongside him is Plue, a carrot-nosed dog/bug thing with the ability to sense Rave and Darkbring stones. Also, he's joined by Elie, a woman with no memory of her past, who uses blaster-tonfas. She's also pretty cute. Later comes Musica, though I don't know what his deal is.

Like all Americanized anime, massive amounts of references to perversion, language, death, and other good stuff have been taken out, though they did manage to keep some of the funnier jokes. While I claim to be indifferent toward appearance, I still like the show's artistic style.

This is Sworder's anime recommendation for this month. Live long and prosper.

I've seen some of it, pretty cool. Main guy looks badass.

I have the first three manga books of it, and I love it!

I did like the style too, but it was a little too blah for my tastes in terms of story.

Though I love the phrase "carrot-nosed dog?!" in the themesong. Reel Big Fish all the way.

Yeah the story is kinda dumb. Is it me or does Haru kinda look like an anime style Cloud with silver hair?

Oh and that "Carrot Nosed dog" line is funny as hell.

I'm going to have to find some episodes of this. But the manga is very, very good, so I might not bother...

It appears my facts were off. Shiva was the guy who fought Darkbring and gave the stuff to Haru. I don't know what Gale has to do with it, but he's mentioned in the story mode on the game.

Also, when the Dark Bring was destroyed, there was a really fuggin' big explosion that destroyed a third of the world or so.
