Title: All things Dragonball
Description: Kamehameha! Or something like that
Paul - January 2, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
I think there's an RP thread for the DB universe somewhere on the forums. This is not the purpose of this particular thread. This is for all the official DB media: Anime, manga, movies, games (if there isn't a thread for the games in gaming). And now, onto the important business.
I got the two latest DBZ Cell Games DVDs and something occurred to me: During the fight with the Cell Juniors Kakarrot, Vegeta, and Trunks are either getting their asses kicked or barely defending themselves. Then I saw Piccolo. He was beating the hell out of not one, not two, but three Cell Juniors. Bitch smack to the left! Bitch smack to the right! Piccolo was definately keeping his pimp hand strong. But it didn't make sense. How was he fending them off so easily? It's not the strength because Trunks had more. It's not the experience because Vegeta's a great deal older. It's certainly not the bald head because Krillin was getting his ass kicked too.
Maybe it's the ears? Or the antennas? Or that green grass skin? What could it be? Does anyone have any theories?
Optimustoe - January 2, 2005 10:56 PM (GMT)
It's because Piccolo is GREEEEEEEEEEN, man.
If Dende were there than he'd be kickin Cell Jr. butt too.
No seriously obstaining from my normal answer *cough*plot hole*cough* . Perhaps the fact that Piccolo is a namek and has a GREAT deal more concentration and a clear head in battle ((since he just fused with Kami a couple of sagas ago)).
VincentX - January 2, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
It's the fighting knowledge and skill. Piccolo is much more skilled than Vegeta or Trunks and Goku was weakened because of his fight with Cell. Piccolo and Goku are about equal when it comes to fighting strategies and taking on opponents even if the opponent is stronger.
Another example would be Piccolo's fight against Frieza: if you look at the official power levels Frieza was at 1,000,000 and Piccolo was between 700,000 and 800,000. The reason why he kicked Frieza's ass was because he was a lot more skilled, Frieza was used to whiping people out, not fighting equals.
Though Piccolo hasn't always been the strongest, he is definitely one of, if not the, most intelligent fighters ever.
Kal - January 3, 2005 12:54 AM (GMT)
I agree. And he is most definitely the pimp. I need to find more pictures of him in pimp clothes too.
And y'know those power levels? I wish we could just take off the zeroes for the most part, refer to it as like 7k or so. Make it easier.
By the way, I love y'all.
But you do have to keep in mind, back in ye olden dayes, Piccolo was often used as a plot device. Need a loose cannon to come up and save a main character? Here's Piccolo. Need someone to pick up where our tired heroes left off? Bam. What about a cute but pointless interlude revealing more about another character? Piccolo. I think he's still just mainly used that way, to keep the plot moving. It tends to stagnate with just Goku/Vegeta beating everyone up, and we already KNOW Krillin/Yamcha/Chichi really can't keep up.
VincentX - January 3, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
True, though in the Buu saga he was more of a wise consellor than a fighter.
Gizmonicgamer - January 3, 2005 01:25 AM (GMT)
Wooh! Go dragon ball Z of Zetto nessnessnessness....
Robert - January 3, 2005 01:27 AM (GMT)
what does the "Z" stand for?
Kal - January 3, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
Nooooooooobody knooooows. OOH MYSTERY!
BigLumberjackGuy - January 3, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
The Z is something the animators added to differentiate between the two different "series," even though in the original japanese manga it's all DragonBall. They put it in there because the focus was tilting to fighting and it was picking up speed and so putting it into a new series would spawn an ENORMOUSLY popular anime, which it did.
And as for Piccolo... he is extremely smart and has great tactical skills... all three of him. Keep in mind, not only did GDKP(Great Demon King Piccolo) transfer ALL of his memories, skills and mind into our Piccolo(see DB vol14-15 for that), he absorbed Nail, who said that he'd take up "as little space as possible" in his mind and thus it can be assumed added his intellect to Piccolos in addition to his fighting power(see DBZ vol8 for that) and became one with Kami-Sama(I don't own those volumes, so don't ask me where it is..) after that. Thus, having three great tactical minds to throw strategies around, Piccolo obviously is the brightest of those fighting Cell's mini-me's.
Any more questions? :P
VincentX - January 3, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
Here's just a little problem with the Cell Saga:
What if when Cell was trying to absorb 18...Trunks or Vegeta just destroyed Android 18? I mean, they both obviously had the power. If they had then Cell never could become perfect.
Another problem with the Cell saga:
When Gohan knocked 18 out of Cell and Cell turned back into his previous state. Goku, Vegeta or Trunks could have killed him really easily. Maybe Piccolo but since exact powers weren't stated it's hard to tell. Heck I'm surprised Vegeta or Trunks didn't just dash out and blast Cell to atoms.
Paul - January 3, 2005 05:15 AM (GMT)
You don't interfere with someone else's fight. It's just something you don't do.
Kal - January 3, 2005 06:36 AM (GMT)
It's a matter of honor! And heck, Saiyans are almost like Klingons thar.
Corvid Creeper - January 3, 2005 07:35 AM (GMT)
Let's not forget Piccolo and Kami are way older than Vegeta and as Piccolo (like BLJG said) has all of King Piccolos memories he has the wisdom of two people that are extremely old and experienced not to mention three minds all sensing powers but he shouldn't have bee able to defend himself anyway.
Vegeta doesn't beleive in Honor he said it himself.
Wasn't freiza's power level over a million i mean he did kill Goku (eps 85 or 86) and im sure Vegeta said it was over a million.
VincentX - January 3, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
Piccolo after fusing with Nail was at about 800,000.
Frieza's second form was at 1,000,000.
Not sure about 3rd.
And 100% power was at 12,000,000.
Robo-Frieza was at around 13,500,000.
SSJ Goku was at 15,000,000
After Trunks showed up Power Levels weren't recorded.
planetnamek.com had estimated power levels:
Piccolo + Kami: 35,000,000
Piccolo after training (from what I can remember): Between 55,000,000 and 65,000,000
USSJ Trunks: 130,000,000 (that's when he had huge power but no speed)
SSJ Vegeta after Hyperbolic Time Chamber the first time: 85,000,000
SSJ Vegeta after Hyperbolic Time Chamber the 2nd time: 100,000,000
SSJ Goku: 120,000,000
SSJ1 Gohan: 130,000,000
SSJ2 Gohan: 325,000,000
Cell w/17: 55,000,000
Perfect Cell: 125,000,000
Super Perfect Cell: 300,000,000
I think the Cell Juniors were just under Perfect Cell in power but I can't remember.
During the Buu Saga it was estimated that Piccolo was at 135,000,000.
Any other Power level requests?

Ummm.....Frieza (or Freiza, take your pick) never killed Kakarrot.
VincentX - January 3, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)
Goku disappeared for a couple of eps during the Frieza fight. Gohan said that he couldn't sense Goku's energy and went to fight Frieza by himself. Goku then reappeared and told Gohan to leave.
Paul - January 4, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
That doesn't mean anything. It could've meant that Kakarrot didn't want to die with the planet. He could find Bulma and Gohan, but Frieza couldn't. He probably hoped that Frieza would get caught in the explosion since I don't think he knew that Frieza could survive in space at the time. He reappeared when Gohan came to challenge Frieza to defend his son.
VincentX - January 4, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
I didn't say it meant that he died. I was just explaining what Corvid wrote.
Personally I like your explanation since I never did figure out why he dissappeared.
Corvid Creeper - January 5, 2005 07:08 AM (GMT)
"The first stage of King Kai's plan is complete, and all of Frieza's victims have been wished back to life. But while the people of Namek begin to rise again, the mighty Super Saiyan Goku falls as Frieza launches a devastating final assault. Sensing his father's defeat, Gohan rushes to the scene as the universe's last hope against the seemingly invincible Frieza. Can Gohan succeed where Goku failed, or will this be the end of both father and son?" Dragon Ball Z.com
I miss read it i got the point in the episodes wrong which is easily done considering the lats time i read that was over a year ago and the last time i saw the freiza saga was longer.
Im watching Vegeta beat the snot out of that PuiPui (i think that's how it's spelled) guy then they think 10 times earth's gravity is gonna make Vegeta weaker while King Kai plays the "careful he may be stronger than you think" role. I love Vegeta..... as in he is cool.
VincentX - January 5, 2005 07:19 AM (GMT)
Vegeta is very cool...what I do find funny though is that he techinically is responsible for Cell killing Goku:
Think about it; Vegeta let Cell become Perfect and through the next set of events Cell nuked Goku. So inadvertantly, Vegeta was responsible for Goku's death.
Corvid Creeper - January 5, 2005 07:48 AM (GMT)
Vegeta is also responsible for the deaths of all Nameks, the destruction of their planet and the death of Krillin and who ever else Frieza killed. Vegeta let him transform just because he wanted to face his full power.
Paul - January 5, 2005 03:47 PM (GMT)
Actually, Gohan is responsible for Cell killing Kakarrot. He should've finished off Cell when he had the chance but decided to mess with him.
Kal - January 5, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
Vegeta likes killing people. He's still nasty that way.
VincentX - January 5, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
Yeah, even in GT he tries to kill Bebi-Gohan.
BigLumberjackGuy - January 6, 2005 03:02 PM (GMT)
I have come to the conclusion that Vegeta hates bald people. He kills Nappa, laughs when tenshinhan, piccolo and chauzu die, mocks kuririn("pick up your trash, little man"), and even kills Nappa. In the freiza saga, he kills Dodoria and Kiwi(whatever that purple guy's name is), slaughters Guildo and later Burter and hates freiza with a passion. In the Android saga, Vegeta kills Android #19.
Every one of these characters is bald, or at least lacking hair. Discuss. ;)
Kal - January 6, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
(For the record, I think it's Kuwi or somesuch. I remember an ooe noise.)
I think it's because they remind him of his own hairy mortality. Notice the sharp male Saiyan pattern baldness? That's enough to make serial killers outta some human men.
VincentX - January 7, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
Heh, I can see Vegeta doing a Rogain (sp?) commercial...
"I'm not only the president...I'M ALSO THE SAIYAN PRINCE SO BUY MY F*CKING PRODUCT!"
Corvid Creeper - January 8, 2005 10:29 AM (GMT)
Vegeta isn't balding, he's been like that since he was like 12. In Bardock's special episode when he trains he has the same hair.
As for Nappa.... he's better off bald or dead he sucks.
Kal - January 8, 2005 05:00 PM (GMT)
It's a joke, son.
Though yes, Nappa with hair was one of the FUNNIEST damn cameos ever.
Corvid Creeper - January 9, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
He looked like on of the mountains in Dragon Ball a big mountain with alittle grass on top.
VincentX - January 24, 2005 07:56 AM (GMT)
Been watching the latest GT eps on Cartoon Network (the next one is the final episode) and it's not too bad. Probably the best part is watching Vegeta yelling at Goku for everything. Though in the last one (episode 63), Vegeta definitely showed that he was a total badass. Goku was supposedly dead and Vegeta tried to take on Omega Shenron by himself. He even charged straight at Omega and shouted "THIS IS FOR KAKAROT!"
In other words: Vegeta was definitely the best character in Dragon Ball GT, he got some damn cool scenes and tried to be the hero against Super 17 and Omega Shenron, knowing that he didn't stand a chance.
Corvid Creeper - January 24, 2005 09:40 AM (GMT)
Vegeta should have had a larger part but he was cool, i'm trying to get the full uncut untranslated episodes off my friend they are so much better.
uziel - January 24, 2005 07:24 PM (GMT)
All things Dragonball sucks.
Having an opinion is one thing. Posting it in tiny timid letters is something else.
Paul - January 24, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
A wise man once said "If you don't have anything nice to say then shut the hell up!" Uziel.
uziel - January 24, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
Only if it's about people.
VincentX - January 24, 2005 08:08 PM (GMT)
Well considering this topic was made for Dragon Ball fans, and you can offend people with stupid comments like that, it still applies.
Mrpibbs - January 24, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
Yea Vegeta does need to have more...action in the series. Its all about Goku and how he beats up every guy with a special trick ^_^ I still like the show though.
uziel - January 24, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
That's true. Dragonball started out pretty cool, but then it became all light tricks and muscle-muscle flex-flex. I liked the old Dragonball series where Goku just kicked ass, ate, then kicked more ass. Politics not included.
Paul - January 25, 2005 02:13 AM (GMT)
C'mon! What's funnier than Kakarrot, Vegeta, and Gohan scarfing down enormous amounts of food and Vegeta says "Get me some more eggrolls!"
uziel - January 25, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
That one WAS funny, but DBZ still sucks.
