“It is fear that first brought gods into the world.”

After centuries of humanity losing faith in the Gods and Goddesses that once empowered the world, they have decided to take a stand for existence rather than roll over and vanish like the Egyptian Gods and the Norse Gods. Brought to life by their very powers, sacrificing some of their prestige, the Gods have succeeded in reincarnating themselves. Not in the way one would suppose, however.

Every time a mortal died, a body that the individual powers were rather fond of, they would inhabit the body, taking over the dead mortal to become something more. Able to walk amongst the living now they have a purpose. Unfortunately there is more to this scheme than meets the eye.

Not only have the Gods and Goddesses returned, but so have the various mortals and Titans of myth. It's only a matter of time before they start to vie for power, their minds set like they were hundreds of years ago when Zeus first came to Mount Olympus, except this is no Mount Olympus. This is Chicago, Illinois, and the powers that be have finally begun to surface, much to the chagrin of those who are aware.

Any time a sub-plot or a plot comes up the staff will hold sign-ups or post up any pertinent information here. The details may be vague sometimes but that leaves it open to the players' creativity. Make sure if you have a plot idea to post it in the thread entitled Plot Ideas, as we want to know what ideas you have. Also within this forum is a thread called "Most Wanted", where you can post who you want to see taken up/created.

The downtown area is the center of Chicago's cultural, commercial and financial institutions, and home to Grant Park and many of the city's skyscrapers. Many of the city's financial institutions are located within a section of downtown called "The Loop", which is an eight block by five block square of city streets that are encircled by elevated rail tracks. The Italian Cosa Nostra, led by Zeus, own this part of town. Conflict keeps arising between the Irish and the Italians over Downtown Chicago.

The north side is the most densely populated residential section of the city and many high-rises are located on this side of the city along the lakefront. The River North neighborhood features the nation's largest concentration of contemporary art galleries outside of New York City. Lincoln Park is also located in this area of Chicago. Contrary to popular belief, this vastly populated area is home to the Irish mafia, run by the infamous Hades himself.

The south side is home to the University of Chicago. Parkland stretches along the waterfront of the South Side. Two of the city's largest parks are also located here: Jackson Park, bordering the waterfront and is the site of the Museum of Science and Industry; slightly farther west is Washington Park, which may also be home to the 2016 Summer Olympics. The Russians own this part of Chicago, their leader being Ares, and industry being their main concern.

The west side holds the Garfield Park Conservatory, one of the largest collections of tropical plants of any U.S. city. Cultural attractions include Humboldt Park's Puerto Rican Day Parade festival, and the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen. The Near West Side holds the television production company of Harpo Studios. The French very reluctantly agreed to this area of land as it is known more for Hispanic culture and not so close to the lakes. One of the few things that have angered them.

One of the darkest and most relaxing of clubs in Chicago, this place is owned and run by Cronus, the ex-cop involved with the Irish Mafia. Once thought to be the afterlife for Gods that were banished from Mount Olympus it has become the name of a club that any would die to get into. Indeed the door in the basement leads to the realm of Hades, the Underworld where all souls go. Tartarus itself is run by the Irish mafia.

This is the place to be when one wants to sit back and relax. Though the name may speak of bliss it's nothing but absolute Heaven within. Upstairs there is a locked door, which, when opened gives way to the Fields of Elysium. Sometimes the Gods shed their mortal forms to dwell here for a time, also opting to leave their mortal shells for countless days on end to enjoy the fruits of being a God. Needless to say it's a lounge that many would enjoy going to for a quick martini or to meet over dinner. This lounge is another owned by the Irish mafia.

Like the location of myth, Troy is a place for the hardy and not for those that are faint of heart. This is a place that only the fools go to drink and the men come out at the end of the night. There's a wonderful VIP room in the back that sports strippers and entertainment for those that seek it. Owned by the Russians it most definitely reflects their steadfast ways and tolerance of drinking.

Unlike the other nightclubs that Chicago houses as part of it's population of entertainment this one is purely exotic, with accents of French nightlife all over. Themed as something underwater and oceanic, Gozo is one of the calmer nightclubs but still with much mystery behind it. The French own this spot and, while they may not be seen to the natural eye behind the scenes, they make up the staff, not accepting those of the other mafias in their midst. It's still a welcoming place for those that seek the strange and unusual.

Owned and run by the Italian mafia this is one of the lounges that is strict VIP access. What VIP means in this case is only Gods and Goddesses of known prestige may enter. Those who are from ages past are granted access into the lounge, but when a single mortal makes it through they see a normal lounge that doesn't appear out of the ordinary. A door near the back of the kitchen opens to Mount Olympus, the mountain of the Gods and a sacred place that only they can see. When a mortal opens the door, it's nothing but a broom closet.
