In myths and stories, the magerath were said to be the first inhabitants of Earth, a race who had first occupied it before the humans' existence. They built Gateways, transports from their world to Earth, in certain parts of the world. As the humans came to exist, the magerath began to blend into society.
In Victorian times, the gates were publicly discovered, as was the existence of the magerath; psionics--mental powers--which was considered magic to the humans, were both greatly feared and awed. For a while, the humans were fine with their abilities--until they began to be the victims of them. Fearing their presence, the humans drove them out, and smashed the Gateways.
The half-bloods--those with half human, half magerath genes--were also driven out, once their powers were discovered. Some fled to their home planet via the remaining Gates. Some magerath, for a time, lived on Earth--most were driven out, others remained and melded into society. Some became shamans, psychics, and others took on more normal jobs. After the nostalgia of their presence died down--and the leaders of the killings and revolts ceased--the presence of the magerath was all but forgotten, save legends and myths.
To some, this was a mere fairy tale, a story of heroes and villains. To the people that believed and witnessed back then--real.
One hundred and seventy years ago, in 2210, conflict began to heat, and the battles began on Earth. A power struggle, and an energy crisis were to blame. After all the procrastination to fix the problem of Earth's depleting resources, the same, tense procrastination escalated to a level that led to war. Some areas refused to believe that a war would actually happen; others embraced the idea.
In the year 2220, World War III began. And humanity began to look to the stars. Maybe they could find a chance for a better life. Repair their mistakes. An opportunity was right before their eyes--and a year later, they took it.
Earthlings began leaving. They took shuttles, rockets, anything to escape the increasingly harsh and unforgiving environment that was Mother Earth. Treaties between the countries began to fail, and then, the movements began.
First, it was the asians that set for space, in the year 2232. Next, the Europeans; everyone followed suit, when more killing, deaths, and tragedies occured. Although some left, many stayed loyal to their planet, either because they couldn't afford to leave, were scared, or too stubborn.
After many technological advancements, as well as losses, humanity began to colonize space, build stations, and discover other planets. This movement and development of Earthlings would come to be known as the Great Migration.
Thirty years from then: that was when the real problem began. Just when humanity had seen a bit of peace, humanity made contact with another race: the magerath. Prideful and exotic people of the planet Xel Kyan. The Earthlings saw this as an opportunity: a chance to recreate themselves. To recreate their Earth from the dust ball it had become.
And in all actuality, the magerath had appeared from their home to ease the problems of half-bloods, impurity of race--it is unacceptable, in the magerath teachings. The magerath had learned of their ancestors' settlings on Earth. Stopping, meant ceasing the human's migration, and marriages between their races.
And death.
War ignited on Earth between the magerath, and the humans.
Thus, the second era of the persecutions began on Xel Kyan, due to humans--who had found the planet before anyone else was aware--wedding the magerath, creating an all-new generation of half-blood children. Nearly 3/4 of the half-blood population on the alien planet was killed. The remaining 1/4 were considered very lucky. This persecution was ended shortly after the war.
Nautilus intervened, and ceased the persecutions and the wars after five years of attempts and negotiations. Peace was upon the universes once more. In this period, the Republic and the Alliance--a ring of factions of rebels--was born.

Flash forward to the present day, 2380: Earth is all but a wasteland. New planets and races have been discovered. Humans are not the only intelligent race. Bitterness still lies between the humans and magerath, after those events. The half-bloods remain to be persecuted against, but with more subtle methods. Predjudice remains deep of the half-bloods, in the magerath's eyes. Corruption lies within the Republic. The Alliance is becoming more apparent.
After many years of fighting and conflict, humanity had positive discoveries throughout the hellish times: technology, expansion, and space. The horizons have expanded.
Welcome to Infinite Horizons. Where anything's possible.
Welcome to the new era.
