I know I'm totally getting ahead of myself. Well hopefully this thread will stay alive til July then biggrin.gif

Anyone else planning on going? I know Michelle is, but I'm not sure where exactly the rest of you live o.o. Not that I know where she lives exactly. I'm no stalker, nuh uh. Not at all.

General questions, like...are you cosplaying? Have you gone before? What'd you buy? experiences? bad experiences?

..eh, lets open the discussion to other conventions too then :T DISCUSS AWAYY!!

---------

my worst experience has to be either the Cloud bashing (His sword is not compensating for something, dammit!!! *cry*) or the Cloud cosplayer who was totally awesome but totally female. Trap.

My friend is thinking of cosplaying, so I guess I'll cosplay along with her. But I've got no ideas so far...any input?

Im tottaly going. This is only my second year. I never thought Id get to go but I have a firend who goes every year.

I had to make plans within to go within two weeks.
I asked him early on in the year if I could go with him and his response was
" No way, i couldnt put up with you that long" I kept bugging him. Always the same answer.
One day he was telling me how he accidentally go two hotel rooms. i said "Okay well keep them both and Ill take it" He said " yea you COULD or you could just stay with me" Okaaaay.

So, Im going again this year. Were both cosplaying. Im going as Bankai Renji and hes going as Byakuya.

He wants to fly but Id rather take the train. One, I HATE airports/planes.
Two. Im afraid theyll confiscate my Zabimaru that I worked so hard on

I might go. It really depends on when I'm visiting Cali this summer.

If I do, it would be pretty awesome. I've wanted to go to AX for some time now.

Yes because I was cheated out of it last year :/
No cosplay since I can't pull anything off...except for Kyouya from Ouran Host Club...but I don't feel like saving up money for that outfit.

The last time I went was back in '04. I remember seeing ddrotaku (for anyone that remembers him) along with DarkPhire (him too).
Nothing bad really about that expo. Except for seeing Man-Faye...

I don't remember buying anything. Didn't see anything too interesting.
If Reggie goes....oh man, I just hope he does. Haha... :3

HURRAH, I pre-ordered my 4-day badge a few weeks ago. No artist alley table since that sold out pretty quick. This is my third year in a row going and I'm cosplaying for sure. Buncha little things happened last year that prevented me from spending money on material, but I'm making up for that this year. FFT archer!

I do hope to see you all there, especially you Reg if you do get to go, most definitely. :] Wee, Dragid/IMMage con attendees.

As for bad experiences? Hmm... none I can think of. I had the best Irish luck last year when I went though. Best luck evar.

First year I bought junk. Last year I bought some junk, plus a bunch of art supplies. Copic markers at cheaper price own.

Oh bad experiances.
There were a few, but the only one that was actually the fault of the Con itself, was standing line for five hours in a room with thousands of other people ..and the only water were pint size bottles being sold for $2.

The water gouging itself i found to be a real problem.

Fei if you could pull off a Kyouya I'll garuntee you at least one person will tackle you.

I'd LIKE to go, but... you know, other side of the country and all.

I'm busy working on my Time-Jump Sasuke costume, and I doubt I'll even be going to/using it at Anime Boston, much less AX.

Maybe now I have a better reason not to... >_>;;
Well actually, I've been having trouble deciding whether I want to order the jacket and tie. 'Cause I have a limited amount of money...might be worth it though, we'll see what happens :r

That's why you bring your own bottled water. Or drink. I bought food there... my wallet was sad. ._.;; Damnit, I know I'll do it again, too.

And I totally feel you on the ridiculously long line-waits Riku.

I don't know if its worth it. I mean, I always thought going and buying a costume for over fifty bucks just to cosplay with it once was a big rip off. Unless you're savvy at selling things back online and making up for part of the differences, I don't think you should go for it. But totally your decision.

Best bet is to pay someone you know to sew the costume for you, or sew it yourself. [Thank you mother for teaching me when I was a kid.]

What made the line even better, is that i had the Otaku version of Bryant Gumble behind me in line. That man would NOT shut the hell up!

I always take a bottle of water with me everywhere but at that time I didnt becuase ..ano..oh yea I was very tired and frustrated from the 36+ hour train/bus ride that I didnt feel like carrying it anymore and threw it out. Thatll learn me..maybe.

On a slightly related note, sakura con is in one month. Woo!! I still need to finish my costume.
*Is covered in paint and paper mache pieces from shaping her Zabimaru pieces.* Its gonna bo tottaly badass. I dont mind ruining a shirt for it,

I'm the same as Kaze, wrong side of the country. I'd bet that Columbus Con is lame as compared to the ones mentioned too. That and I have no one to go with.

Lines do suck though. Closest thing I can equal a con to is Disney World. 45 minutes for space mountain at 10:30AM? Fuck that. And water was $2.15. So was the Coke, but the water had more in it.

If I were to cosplay, I'd like to go as Squall from FF XIII, but that would be really expensive and I wouldn't pull it off anyway. I'd probably try Spike (Cowboy Bebop) or someone else that I could buy the suit at Salvation Army.

I say go with what you feel like. I'm most likely not going to pull off an FFT archer, but I'm doing it anyway. The point is dressing up for fun. As a favorite character. And showing it off. *thumb up*

That Bryant Gumble cosplayer... would've gotten a kick out of it for the first minute I saw him. Heh, I feel sorry you had to go through with that.

I'd also love to go to other conventions! There's one in LA every year, hmm... AX is more convenient for me though, a bit closer. And this year it'll be right next door to my home town, so hurrah.
