Pastels were not the easiest things to get out of clothing and off of the skin which was why Evangeline did not prefer to work with them but this was making her picture stand out. The studio lights had been turned on, making the room get warm, and the other lights turned off as she turned to face her subject on the table near by. She had asked her best friend and fellow teacher, Mr. Potts, to lend her some of the older instruments from the band room and arranged them in the way that she wanted. She had sketched out the drawing earlier before school hours and now it was just a little after school and here she was. No students were in the room and she didn't know if anyone would come to work on something.

The cloth on the table was black and that was the color she had in her hand. Black pastel was smeared on her hands and cheeks where she had rubbed earlier. Her hair was pulled back so that it was not in the way when she was filling in the lines and wiping away the excess pastel so that the colors did not smear together so easily.

She sat down the black pastel and picked up a reddish orange one to portray the old and tarnished french horn bell that was in front of her. She really loved her artwork and she might have been a professional artist if she wasn't so afraid of leaving the place she always knew. Her fiance might have not apprieciated it either and that was what mattered. She didn't want to anger him, after all they would be getting married...sometime... hopefully. She glanced up at the clock that read 3:30 pm and then looked back at her drawing.

Sam walked into the room with her hoodie on and her music going in her ear. She had some time to kill and decided to work on something for Art. She realized she hadn't put any effort towards the class anymore. She had been to worried about her family, her friend, Livy and just about anything. She stopped upon seeing Miss. Johnson in the room. She wasn't exactly at her best with the teacher right now.

Sam supposed it was being she wasn't really doing anything arty in class. She had lost her muse but she was willing to get it back. Her muse had run off somewhere and Sam tried hard to find it but it was never there. Taking her headphones off from her ears she let it slip around her neck as the music still blasted sightly. She had heard over and over again that it was going to make her deaf but she didn't really care. Sam just stood there not exactly knowing what to say.

Evangeline was busy at work, red adding to the colors that were on her hands from the half hour before that she had been working on the drawing. Why she was into her art and loved to do projects was something that always baffled her friends but Evangeline had never been the sporty girl as a student. She could have been known as the geek, playing in the school band and being in art club and national honor society but what was so wrong with that?

She finally heard someone stop in the doorway of the room and she looked up from the art desk she had picked out. She dropped the pastel to the desk and ran her hands over the jeans she had changed into after school had ended. She glanced over to see Samantha Elliot standing there. Sure, she wasn't her favorite student but when the girl tried, she could really come up with something and that was what Evie was here for, to get the students to dig into their creativity.

"Can I help you, Samantha?" she asked like any teacher would, looking at the girl.

Sam looked at the teacher a bit as she sort of spaced out. "Uh...probably not. Unless you can find my muse that ran off to god knows where" she said to her chuckled a bit. Her hands slipped into her pockets. Sam was a creative girl it was just whenever she was asked to do a project or to be a bit more creative all she could come up with was dark things. She usually only worked with dark colors. A lot of people classified her as psycho or suicidal just because of that but she didn't listen.

"Just here to mess around with paper or whatever" Sam told her as she shrugged a bit. She slouched a bit in her punk rock clothes. People always judged her but like she cared if they did that. They were jerks anyways.

Evie glanced down and saw the orangish red color that now was on the front of her jeans. She would just have to wash them out when she returned to her apartment so that they were not ruined but then again, that wouldn't be the first pair of pants that she ruined by wiping her hands over them or by spilling paint on them.

She looked back up at her student and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She wanted to laugh at how silly she looked. Black pastel smeared both her cheeks and red-orange was on the bridge of her nose where she decided to itch her nose. She looked like the box of pastels she was using exploded on her.

"Well, I don't know where your muse ran off to but I can help you find it again." She paused again. "Just get yourself comfortable and you can do whatever you want. If you need help, that's what I'm here for." She always offered that up even though the people she taught were in high school but she was there to motivate them.

"Right" Sam said to her with a nod as she situated herself in a chair in the back room. This was where she usally lingered during class. "That's a nice look to you" she pointed at how colorful Miss. Johnson looked now. She laughed at her a bit in her head as she rolled her eyes.

Grabbing some paper from the back she sort of slammed it down. Grabbing whatever she could she sat there staring at the paper until she had an idea in a way. More like something that would probably have her taken to see a counselor but whatever. She began to draw herself. However, it was a bit distorted. She viewed herself as the Angel of Death basically. She however, made sure to make herself very imperfect. She wasn't perfect at all. Who was really?
