    Only was able to get four, took from the bridge. Interesting but wish they'd have engines as I remember them - grime coated! Carriages too were not too cleam = outside that is - interior were fine. Mostly dirty red or, brown (exterioir) as I remember (used to trip from Oxford to Hayle/Penzance in 50's and 60's.)
Buses however were usually very clean and polished, and had interesting shapes - they did not look like boxes as modern ones do. Most were prety comfortable too (long distance ones, more so than local service of course.) UNfortunately they now all look the same - big boxes with very large windshields. Oh yeah- IU don't remember reading of many bus crashes, as I now do in BBC news.  Howeverone must remember, the roads in 50's and 60's were not cluttered with cars - I imagine 10 times more now than then? It was safe then to ride bikes on country roads!  GEOF |
