Its been a while since he last changed his bandages and they were starting to peel off just a bit. Looking down as he made his way to his usual training spot, he scoffed at the sore area on his abdomen. His arms had evidence of being scratched up a while ago, but most of the marks were healed by now. There was even a rather long horizontal scar barely visible underneath his left eye. For a while now, he has been thinking of a way to fight against explosions, ever since that incident in the bar a while back. Exploding tables, splinters flying everywhere... he even took a big chunk of broken table in the stomach, but still managed to walk out in one piece. It was the first time in a long time he actually admitted defeat, and it hurted more than any exploding table ever would. He just had to win the next fight and he was sure there would be one.
There was an overcast sky today, and the temperature was cool. It has been that way for quite some time now, and he was just starting to loose his tan. Reaching the wide open area just off the mountain path, his Ishbalan eyes scanned the surroundings. This particular clearing was riddled with rocks of different sizes, along with small logs stacked here and there, serving as transmutation material. Usually, there was a chunk of metal lying around here and there, but he had used it all up about a week ago. It was rather obvious that this was the place he has been camping out for quite a while. For the time being, he sat down on a patch of grass and dropped his bag to the ground. The hike up the path was nice, just long enough to get the blood flowing good.
Kaal's boots were old and worn. Their soles were beginning to be worn down pretty badly, but he neverminded it. He was focused right now, just going through the usual motions of preparing for a training session. As he removed his hiking boots he pretty much stared forward blankly, adding things up and linking seemingly random facts that ran through his head. He retrieved another pair of boots, a heavier pair, letting his mind rummage through the piles of alchemic knowledge that sat reletively unstirred up there. The wind barely blew just as he came to a sudden revelation in his head. The sudden twist of his facial expression was evidence that something he had been pondering on for a long time had just been possibly solved. With a wide smile, he paused and looked up.
"... It'll be hard as hell, but its sure worth a try!"
Excited now, he didn't waste any more time, rushing to put his boots on and springing to his feet. Right away, he took a wide stance and relaxed his mind and body. With his head tilted back, he listened to the calming wind and let it seek out the connections he had made earlier in his thoughts about alchemy. It took a while as he stood there, not moving. Slowly, his hands started to rise in front of him as the wind calmed down.
It was as if the scenery itself was listening...waiting...watching...
With a quick gust of wind, his entire stance changed. He even shifted forward a foot or so as he thrusted his hands out forward. Pushing inward with his palms, his muscles were met with a strong resistance. The transmutation circle on his bracelet flashed its blue glow twice and then gleamed brightly as it became activated. The area of resistance between his inward facing palms began to show signs of alchemic energy crackling every few seconds. The air there was comming to a state of being supercondensed, something that he had only hoped to achieve for the longest. He didn't feel it at the time, but his own body's energy was actually being depleted as he held the orb of pressurized air. After a matter of seconds, the crackling air between his hands began to feel rather unstable. It struck the slightest vein of worry in his mind, so he suddenly released it, quickly separating his hands and bracing himself. The resulting force pushed out frome every direction from the pressurized area, sending him sliding back on his heels yards away. Violently, he was slammed into a large rock, going limp immediately. His eyes jolted open as his head was thrown back and his limp body folded back, conforming to the shape of the rock in the most uncomfortable of ways.
Minutes later, he stirred. "If... If I could only harness that power..." And then he laid his head back and lost consciousness.
