hey guys,

on my son's computer when he plays 2142, everything loads properly but when he gets to the squad selection screen the mouse doesn't work at all. it's a frozen pointer in the middle of the screen. the 'esc' key also doesn't work.

i can reproduce it 100% of the time.

i uninstalled, reinstalled and patched (and restarted) and it's still 100% of the time it happens.

tried bf2 and bf1942 as well as bf vietnam and it works on all games except 2142.

i also set my mouse pointer to "default" and tried 3 different video resolutions.

edit: the game's been working until today, we've had it about 2 months now

Just a WTF idea but what are your Soundcard settings at? Try with low settings and if you have a Creative soundcard i.e. Audigy2 or X-Fi make sure that it is set to hardware not software as an onboard soundcard would be. [WTF] See if it works.

Used to get something similar in bf2. If 2142 has a similar setting in the controls area, click on reset default.

no clue why, but reset controls to default, then customized again and all is well. thanks!

Same thing used to happen to me....Had me stumped forever and pissed me off to no end! Kinda like 2142 is now!
