Captain Freetime™ - August 9, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
Alex walked into the shop, his claymore still on his back, and a bag of supplies in hand. What exactly where those supplies? His secret to obtaining this job. No force on earth would or could deny his power of baking. He looked around for Shin, he DID say 9, right? He was on time, he was sure of it. But yet he could not see Shin.
He moved up to the counter and looked behind there. "....Oi. Shin. You here?" He asked out loud, hoping the mute, melanin deficient, musician would come forth. He needed to see his battleground, his field of war. He needed to be perfectly set to unleash the secret dessert of legend.
HinoKaze - August 9, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
Shin quickly walked out of the room to the side, looking as if he just finished either painting or cooking something rather messy, the reason being because he DID just finish doing messy work. He left himself in charge of decorations and such, which of course meant also painting some designs, but at last he was finished. The shop was done, the kitchen was immaculate as were the designs. He was ready for business even though he hadn't even opened yet. Shin gave Alex a wave as he then motioned for him to follow Shin into the kitchen, showing the deeply cleaned area. All ingredients were neatly sorted, there weren't many machines there, but what was there was up to date and of course, everything was squeaky clean. Shin wrote a note to Alex quickly.
QUOTE
Well, this is the kitchen. It's a good size if I do say so myself and I also cleaned it up myself. Perfect for the business in my opinion. Use it how you please, however once you're done, I things back where you found them. We're not officially opened yet, so we don't need huge messes, yes?
Captain Freetime™ - August 9, 2008 02:18 AM (GMT)
"...Very well." Alex said, closing his eyes and smirking. Suddenly he opened them back up. and his grin grew into an evil smile. He placed his bag on the the counter, and gathered bowls, a pitcher, and eggs, the only thing he felt he could not carry himself. Strangely, a latin chorus began singing in the background as he preheated the oven....
With a quick motion, he grabbed two eggs in one hand, and cracked them both against the bowl's side, and placed the yolks and whites into the bowl. He then dug into the bag beside him and pulled out sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and chocolate syrup, and began to mix them all together. The latin chorus slowly grew louder. "Yes.....everything is going as planned!"
He then reached into the bag and pulled out...BROWNIES!? Yes, he seemed to have prepared brownies ahead of time. They were squished into bits, it seemed, and he was now adding that into the mix. He then pulled out...chocolate bars?! he was adding them in too! Next came chocolate milk, then after that, MORE chocolate syrup, then after that, Chocolate chips! After that was...PIECES OF CHOCOLATE CAKE!? THEN FUDGE!? With each item, the latin chorus grew louder.
He then placed the mix into a pan. and tossed it into the oven, and closed the door, and began preparing a drink. Using a certain soda, special fruit drinks, and the like, plus a bit of sugar and some energy drinks. He then stirred it all in the pitcher, it bubbling dangerously. Whatever Alex was making, it could NOT be healthy.
Suddenly, the latin chorus stopped, as Alex suddenly reverted back to his silent giant state. ".....Baking time now." He muttered, as he began to clean up the bowl and the other dishes, as he got the proper dishes out for the next part of this doomsday cake
*20 minutes later*
After it was baked, Alex removed it from the oven and sat it out to cool, and used Icing over it. It was chocolate icing, of course, but over the normal icing was red-colored chocolate icing...in the shape of a biohazard sign. After another 5 minutes......the music came back, and Alex grabbed onto the hilt of his claymore. "And now....FOR THE PEACE DE' LA RESISTANCE!" He yelled out, using the claymore to slice the cake into slices!
Afterward, the chorus faded, and Alex turned to Shin, and held out a plate with a slice of the cake, and a glass of the orange, bubbling concoction. "....Done." He said simply, back to normal.

People were crazy. And when Natalie said crazy, she meant up the wall insane. What could possess people to do such silly, outrageous things? Really. She had gone through enough hell, but she was a perfectly normal person. Well almost normal. Though no where near perfect. So, she stood at the door, a bright red scarf wrapped around her neck and fluttering ever so often in the breeze behind her. Her hair was tied up into a nice ponytail secured with bobby pins. White plain shirt, jean shorts. Normal. Not so perfectly but sort of normal.
After the initial surprise, Natalie ventured in further, fumbling around in her pockets, trying to avoid being plummeted with happiness and enthusiasm which she felt were going to come soon enough. Or not. Who knew. People acted different around strangers. There were several coins clinking around between her fingers, which she gripped onto with a strange protection before averting her large blue eyes up to who she assumed to be the owner. The one who had cut the large chocolate cake. She wasn’t exactly looking around at her environment, so she had missed the sign. “Do you have blueberry muffins?”
Natalie flipped a coin back and forth, used the other hand to push some strands of hair out of her face.
Captain Freetime™ - August 9, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
Alex turned, as he saw someone come in. Wait,t his place wasn't even supposed to be open yet, right? Then why did she just come waltzing in like this?! And what was she doing asking him? He wasn't even employed yet. Well...he was working in the kitchen with Shin, so maybe she thought he WAS an employee.
"...Not open yet." He said simply, remembering what Shin wrote down earlier. "And I'm not an employee here yet." He then pointed at Shin. "He's the owner, so he's the one to talk to. He might serve you the muffins." He said, not sure what Shin would do. The store wasn't open for business quite yet, so he might NOT have the muffins, after all...
HinoKaze - August 9, 2008 03:19 AM (GMT)
Shin, who was being pointed at by Alex was actually COWERING behind the counter. That whole performance was...Frightening. He looked like a little boy about to cry of fright because of it, and he also noticed that Alex used a CLAYMORE to cut the cake, which was much MUCH larger than his longsword which was strapped around his waist behind him. He then heard someone talking to Alex, probably thinking that he was the owner instead of Shin himself. Shin stood up from behind the counter and saw a girl talking to Alex. He quickly wrote down a note and showed it to Natalie.
QUOTE
I'm sorry, we're not open yet. I'm actually giving this man a test to see if he can work here. I'll be happy to make a fresh batch for you though.
Roxi - August 9, 2008 03:27 AM (GMT)
“Well.” Natalie paused, biting her lip. Shouldn’t they have a sign, at the door, maybe? They sure seemed ready. Especially him, with all his flamboyant cooking skills and what not. She didn’t want to trouble them or anything. And, really, what was she doing here anyway? She could make her own muffins, perfectly fine at home. She was an excellent cook. In truth, Natalie was just starving for company. Lucky her had come across two boys. Though she was a bit fearful of one.
It had only occurred to her that someone had just written a note to her. She had read the message, yes, but it didn’t slap her in the face until now that the person was probably mute. Or, something like that. Was it a choice? She remembered when her little sister wouldn’t speak her weeks on account of being teased…Terrible.
She then flipped out her crossword puzzle and stared at the boxes, mocking her. Nat took a bite of her muffin and wrote in “existentialism.” She sat down in front of the two with a sigh and finally said, “No that’s alright. What I really wanted was just someone to keep me company, I guess. I already know almost everyone in this town, though.” Grumbling, Nat set her chin on her fist, tapping her pen against her lips. She tilted her head so a part of her red scarf pooled out onto the table.
Captain Freetime™ - August 9, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
"...Ah." Alex said, moving back to the kitchen, and bringing out another slice of cake, and another cup of the strange orange concoction. "....I'm sure it'll be alright...right Shin?" He said, at her comment of wanting some company. If she was really THAT bored, they couldn't really turn her away ...besides... more test subjects for him....
He placed the cake and punch down by the woman. "Here. Application cake and drink." He said, simply. Hopefully, she could handle sweet foods. She'd need it. Between the punch and the cake, it was possible to gave someone diabetes through these things alone! Of course, if she liked it, and Alex was hired, they'd have good word of mouth for their products...and since almost all of the cake was made from Alex's ingredients, it wasn't costing Shin a thing.
HinoKaze - August 9, 2008 04:48 AM (GMT)
Shin gave a shy nod to Alex, showing his approval. He couldn't help but notice the red scarf and the red icing in front of him. It was...Slightly nerve wracking. He was feeling nervous since the two of them were strangers to him, and Alex for whatever reason had a latin chorus playing whenever he was baking. He had no idea where it came from, but it was extremely frightening. In front of him, he had a chocolate cake...With a red biohazard sign on it. Not exactly the most...Modest of designs. And that orange drink next to him. It looked almost as if it would pop out of the glass and strike him or something. "Well, nothing ventured nothing gained....Goddess please protect me." Shin thought to himself as he took a bite of the cake.
Well. It didn't taste bad. It tasted....Chocolatey. VERY chocolatey. It...It...I-...
*CRASH!*
Aaaaaand Shin went out like a light.
Roxi - August 9, 2008 06:08 PM (GMT)
Here she was, innocently filling out a crossword puzzle, and this fool goes and collapses. Of course it frightened her - the other employee’s words were lost on her, as well as his request to try the cake and drink as she lunged for the other one, grabbing him before he crashed into the floor. “Sheesh!” These had to be new residents. Most surely. No one who had inhabited Feather Valley long enough was this insane and chaotic.
Her crossword book lay abandoned on the table as Natalie pulled her own body up, along with the owner’s. The one who had written her a note. She set him on the chair, though his body slumped slightly. Nat pulled in closer, looking at his face very carefully, almost as if she was a worried mother and then - smack! Right in the kisser. It wasn’t that hard, just a gentle one to wake him up. If possible. She wrapped her arms tighter around his waist to prevent him from falling and looked at the other person.
“Do you, um, have cold water? I kind of need it…Well I don’t but he does. Ya. Like stat.” She looked back to the one, unconscious in her arms, “Hey…you okay? Huh?” She gently pushed his face back and forth with her hand to try and awaken him.
Captain Freetime™ - August 9, 2008 08:23 PM (GMT)
....Ah crap. Shin was knocked out after one bit. This was either good or not good. After all, the taste of the cake determined whether or not he was employed! The woman caught Shin before he could, and pulled him into the chair. She then seemed to be trying to wake him up via hitting him. Well, that wouldn't work.
He moved to the kitchen, and opened the refrigerator, pulling out a pre-chilled pitcher of water. It seemed Shin was keeping the ready for when the store was opened. He poured some of it into a glass, and moved back in, just as the woman asked foe a glass. It seemed they both had the same idea on how to wake him up. Alex just hoped he WOULD wake up with this.
"Here." He said as she finished her sentence. looking at Shin. He was worried. Not just because a job was on the line, but because NOBODY had passed out after only one bite before. He could only fear what would happen if he drank his special recipe 'punch' afterwards....he might NEVER wake up!
Roxi - August 9, 2008 10:28 PM (GMT)
Natalie quickly grabbed the glass, cold between her fingers, and splashed it onto the owner’s face, her arms still tightly around his body so that he didn’t fall. Especially with the shock that would come once the water hit his face, awakening him, and probably causing him to near panic and flail. That wouldn’t be good.
It seemed as though Natalie was coming across all sorts of characters now a days. Things were less lonely. Sure, she didn’t mind being alone, she liked it even, but barely having any family took a toil on you. It had just occurred to her that she hadn’t learned either of their names and decided that she would once this whole fiasco was settled. Her eyes darted over to the cake. Maybe coming back here for a blueberry muffin, when they were open, wasn’t such a great idea. Maybe she instead could help out? Or not. That seemed a bit rude to suggest.
HinoKaze - August 10, 2008 05:42 AM (GMT)
"....! NGH!" Well. Shin made his first noise. It was something along the lines of a grunt or something. Well, that sound could be made without the use of he voice box, though one would more surprised if he DIDN'T make some sort of noise after that cake of doom. His eyes darted open, recollecting what had happened. He passed out, and well, apparently someone was holding him down while ice cold water was splashed on his face. Well, he was awake. Once he opened his eyes however, something became rather apparent. His left eye was now a chocolatey brown, in contrast to his other bright blue eye. Well, at least he was unaware of this rather odd and chocolatey change. Well, brilliant. His notebook was now slightly wet along with his shirt vest and face. "Brilliant. My face, clothing and perhaps my notebook is wet." Shin thought to himself before writing another note.
QUOTE
Good taste, very bad after effect. This in a way deserves that Biohazard sign that you made on it. Needs a warning sign for the customers. Your drink is also making me a bit afraid.
Shin looked at the orange glowing drink in front of him. He suddenly saw a fly go and sample some of this...Creation...And then the fly suddenly disappeared...Okay. That was...Frightening. Again.
Captain Freetime™ - August 10, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
Ah, he was alive, perfect. Kinda. As Alex saw Shin awaken, he took a step back. His eye color had changed. NOT good. This had never happened before, none of this. The one taste knockout, the change, NOTHING. Was Shin somehow allergic to it or something? Maybe he should not taste the punch after all....eh, but then again...he was just afraid of it, likely enough.
"...It's harmless...." Alex said, grabbing the drink he'd brought for Natalie, but which she did not take, and drinking it himself. He placed the glass down, looking relatively okay, though his eyes were slightly more open. "See? It's an old recipe for punch. It just has....a bit of a punch in it." He said, inadvertently unleashing one bad pun.
He then turned to Natalie. "..Thanks for helping." He said simply, referring to her help waking Shin up.
HinoKaze - August 11, 2008 07:37 AM (GMT)
Shin stared at the drink for a second before sighing and picking up his glass, then began to drink. Well, if Alex insisted. Again, it had a unbelievably strong taste, and, well, this one didn't make him feel like passing out at least. On the contrary. It made him feel VERY awake. A caffeinated fruit drink? That had to have been the case. About half way through the glass, he set it down and wrote a note.
QUOTE
Aside from some of the more obvious side effects of your cake, it tasted good. This punch also is a bit strong. If you can tone down a bit on what you make, then- *insert scribbled lines*
About half way through while writing, Shin's body gave one large twitch, also causing his hand to shake while writing, resulting in a large scribble on the book. He paused for a second, raising an eyebrow at his...Reaction to this powerful drink. He then continued to write.
QUOTE
As I was saying, if you can tone it down a bit with some of the recipes, maybe also less drama in the kitchen so that you don't frighten me, I see no problem with working here.
Roxi - August 12, 2008 01:44 AM (GMT)
“You’re…welcome?” She was so confused. How odd these people were, continuing on despite the fact that one of them had just fainted. And that one person had just totally disregarded her. Even if he was mute. And not even a “Thank you” or indication that someone, Natalie, had raised him from his sleep. She didn’t want to know their names. She didn’t need to. Instead, she pulled herself out of her chair, grumbling. If they were going to basically ignore her, she would do the same. Sure, one of them had given her such recognition - but barely. Merely. Then went back to their business. Which didn't look like serious business. More like monkey business. That old saying.
Nat swung her leather bag over her shoulder, the crossword puzzle tightly between her fingers, crumpling paper, then walked out, trying, intentionally, to slam the door behind her as she went. She couldn’t explain why she was mad. She probably was even overreacting. Still. She wouldn’t be coming back here again.
HinoKaze - August 18, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
A New Day
*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BE-SMASH!*
Shin stirred a bit as his eyes blinked open. It was that time already? He could have sworn that 7 hours of sleep was supposed to feel like he had gotten a good night's sleep, but this was....Not a good feeling at all. He woke up with a headache and noticed something immediately. It was freakin cold inside the shop. Shin shivered a bit as he noticed that he kicked his blanked off himself since he didn't really stay put as he slept. He also noticed that his pajamas were already half way off. Now that wouldn't do. He got out of his futon and yawned, marveling at the convenience and comfort of such a object....But now wasn't the time for this. Even if he did live in his shop, that didn't mean he wasn't in a rush. He was getting late for his work, so he quickly opened his drawers and threw on something that was made recently for the workers of the shop. It was something along the lines of a uniform, consisting of a black pair of khakis, a long sleeved button up white shirt and a thin black vest along with a red ribbon tied around his collar.
Once finished with washing up and such, he immediately began working, checking the ovens since much of the pastries he made required overnight length baking. Satisfied with his work and finishing all the needed to be done, he flipped the closed sign to "open".
"....I really need to find some help around here." Shin thought to himself wryly as he stood behind the counter of his cafe.
Jin - August 19, 2008 06:03 AM (GMT)
Vonte agreed to her suggestion, and before long, the two were at the door of a quaint cafe that Erin had only heard about. Once upon a time she had promised Shin she would come see him; well, she kept true to her word. Erin had dropped her duffel bag in her room on their way here (she hated carrying things, and oftentimes she forgot things), since it was on the way. And although she wasn't precisely sure where the cafe was located, she had a basic gist-- which happened to be fairly right. In the end, she didn't get them lost, and that was all that mattered.
Erin pushed the door open and held it for Vonte ("It's my turn, now," she had teased him); the bells on the knob gave a melodic jingle. It was a cute place and it had a very clear theme: music. This made sense to Erin, as she knew he played piano. Just as the thought crossed her mind, she noted the piano on a small stage, and she made a mental note to come back another time so he could play for her. After a moment of absorbing the sights of the shop, her grey eyes spotted Shin behind the counter. She smiled and waved as the two of them made their way to a table. "Long time no see."
Vanilla Man - August 19, 2008 06:12 AM (GMT)
Now being more observant, Vonte's eye's scanned the buiding that they were approaching which seemed quite small, but well decorated. Hm...why hadnt he spotted this building before? The question seemed to play contantly in him mind, but the chain was quickly broken when Erin opened the door for him. Ofcourse he smiled, remembering when he had opened it for her at the inn. Then again that is what gentlemen do right?
Once inside, Vonte found the walls of the building quite..different. But in a good way. With so many unique designs and an aroma so sweet, Vonte could see himself coming here alot. "Wow...I like this place.." He smiled softly.
HinoKaze - August 19, 2008 07:20 AM (GMT)
Shin's mind began to wander as he waited for customers, still being fairly new to the business. He was snapped out of his reveries however once he heard the familiar sound of bells jingling. He looked up and saw two people enter, one who he immediately identified as Erin who he met just a little while ago and the other being unfamiliar to him. A smile filled his face and he gave them both a wave. He quickly wrote a note and placed it where both of them could see it.
QUOTE
You're Erin, yes? Nice to see you again! You two are my first couple customers since, well, I just woke up a little bit ago and set up shop, and I did promise the last time we met, so you two can pick any two drinks you want, it's on me!
Shin disappeared into the kitchen behind him then came out with a pair cups in one hand, two menus on the other, then a small pitcher of water perfectly balanced on top of his head. Shin placed the menus down on the table along with the cups then filled them with water and backed off a bit to wait for their order, also retrieving his notebook and pen.
Vanilla Man - August 20, 2008 05:13 AM (GMT)
Songs of Silence eh..? Hm..I like that. A small grin swept across his face as his eyes targeted a man standing behind the table. Strangely, Vonte had never seen someone with such a faraway resting so comfortably in one's eyes. Or was it that unique shade of blue so opposite from his silver colored hair. Either way, Vonte was always up for meeting new people..however upon noticing that he was a human added alittle bit of conflict.
"Yo!" His voice bounced lightly matching his airheaded grin. The man however, quickly wrote a message before disapearing into the kitchen, Then, it became obvious to Vonte that the man was deaf. Upon reading the note, Vonte quickly wrote something under it.
QUOTE
Thanks for the drinks! My name is Vonte. By the way, cool shop!
At the end he drew a smll smiley face, trying to show his friendly personality. With that his eyes shifted to Erin's. "He seems nice..Uhm..." He paused awkwardly, picking up the menu. "Hm...Gosh..so many decisions,," He added in what sounded like a whisper.
HinoKaze - August 20, 2008 05:26 AM (GMT)
When Shin saw the note, his face went comparable to something like this.
=X_X=
The man thought he was deaf, not mute. Shin thought to himself. Wouldn't it be rather hard to be a musician if he was deaf? Perhaps he didn't make the sign big enough? Shin shuffled uncomfortably before pointing at the sign behind the counter, saying in rather large black painted letters that he was a mute. Shin gave a nervous smile to Vonte before stepping back and waiting again for the two to make their order. While waiting on the two, he noticed that Vonte had...Pointed ears? An elf? Cool. Meet different types of people every day he supposed.
As Shin waited, he was slightly tempted to go play the piano to pass the time, but that would seem rude since it might make it seem like he was getting bored. He would play while they drank and ate perhaps.
Vanilla Man - August 20, 2008 05:35 AM (GMT)
"Hm..?" Vonte mumbled as he watched Shin's actions. Then, upon reading the sign, he realized that he had made a terrible mistake. "oooooooooooh...." The word dragged on as if he had just learned something. How embarassing. "I'm sorry!" His smile was just as nervous as Shin's.
After appoligizing, Vonte quickly buried his head behind the menu tryng to hide his embarassment. "I'll order...after you." He told Erin in a rather soft whipser. Once again he had made a fool of himself infront of another human.
But he honestly did not know that he was mute.
Notsil - August 20, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
This was the last straw. Jessica had been pushed to her breaking point, and she would simply not tolerate anything other than complete and total justice. Those bastards had taken her lovely pastries, and locked them up in their seemingly lighthearted and happy fortress of absolute evil. It was here that she would rescue the delicious baked goods that had been created especially for her. She would not back down against the enemy.
The road had not been an easy one though. With her wooden (but very deadly!) blade in one hand, and her trusty map in the other, she had trekked all the way across town to find the fortress. She had faced giant, vicious monsters, made it through vast forests, and infiltrated the city of the damned that circled the fortress. But, she had survived. It was time to regain her lost pastries.
Jessica stood alone in the empty streets, facing Songs of Silence Bakery with the stance of a brave warrior. Sword drawn, she charged the front door with a piercing battle cry, and burst into the bakery slashing this way and that with her sword.
She saw two men inside. The closer one must have been a royal soldier, a feirce knight, loyal to only to the Cult of Silence. He must be the one who watches over the prisoners, that made him the biggest threat. Behind the counter was the dirty thief himself. He must be the overlord of this entire pastry trafficking operation! Oh, he would pay for stealing her poor, delicious and helpless cakes.
She pointed her sword menacingly at the royal knight first.
"You! Drop your weapons, and step away from the counter! The pastries are mine!"

As soon as he heard someone running and screaming from the outside, Shin drew his long sword which was actually hidden within his clothing. Now who the hell was this and what was she talking about HER pastries? It was a little girl! And she was attempting to hold him up with a wooden sword. Was she insane? Shin glared at her a bit, then gave a sigh. He had half a mind to just slice the wooden blade pointed at him in half. He didn't have time to write a note, so he glanced at Erin and Vonte as if asking them for help. How odd this must have looked though. He was in a waiter outfit and had just pulled out a sword from the back of his clothing.
"I can't believe this....What the hell is wrong with kids these days?" Shin thought to himself annoyingly. It wasn't often that he was angry, but a little girl with a wooden sword just burst into his bakery attempting to rob him and said that his handmade pastries were hers. In all logic, he had the feeling he had the right to be angry.

Jessica recoiled slightly in surprise. It was not the knight who was armed, but the Dungeon Master himself, ruler of the enslaved confectioneries who was prepared to defend his slaves. for one dressed as himself, he was quite well armed, his long sword was held, ready to defend his stolen treasure hoard of delciousness. It made no matter, they were her's!
Gathering her courage, the young pirate regained her composure, and held her titanic blade in both hands infront of her. She would not back down to such a foe!
"Hand over the pastries! You stole them, now give them back!"

"I do too," Erin responded to Vonte, giving him a small nod. Seeing that Shin was writing a note, she stood up from the spot she had only just sat down in, and walked over to the counter so that he didn't have to bring it to them. She bent over very slightly so she could see it; her grey eyes scanned the paper for just a moment, and she straightened herself up. "Are you sure?" She asked after he told her the drinks were on the house; she had a tendancy to feel bad when people did things for her; but at the same time, she believed that it was rude to deny someone's kindness. She'd probably wind up sneaking money to him later without him knowing, so she agreed to it at this time.
Erin watched the boy's exchange absently as she held her menu, trying to decide whether she wanted coffee or tea. If she had been paying full attention, she may have laughed at the awkwardness of the situation, but she was partially zoned out.
Erin heard Vonte apologize to Shin and he ducked behind his menu; she couldn't help but smile, though she used her hand to cover it as she propped her chin on her arm, which was resting on the table, with the menu in her other hand. "I'll order...after you." Erin nodded, but it was an awkward nod, because her chin was still resting on her palm. "Tea sounds nice. If you want anything else, it's on me," she added. Her voice was slightly muffled; her fingertips were covering her lips slightly.
Erin removed her hand, and straightened herself to speak. It wasn't anything significant, just chatter-- so it mattered little that she was interrupted by the violent jingling of bells as the door to the shop flew open. She cast her eyes to the small girl who just entered the shop, brandishing a wooden sword. Erin raised an eyebrow and fought a small smile. "You! Drop your weapons, and step away from the counter! The pastries are mine!" Erin was shocked to see Shin pull out a sword from his work attire, but it left her mind quickly as she fought a laugh.
Erin quickly shot glances at Vonte and Shin to see if they found this as humorous as she did. Shin didn't look very amused, and Erin didn't look at Vonte long enough to place his expression. But that was the last straw. Erin suddenly burst out laughing, "S-so... cute!" Erin managed to gasp between laughter.
Erin calmed herself down after a few moments; and lookeed up to meet Shin's wordless exchange. She got it instantly. Though she was still fighting a small smile at the hilarity of this moment, Erin tilted her head slightly as she looked her. She wasn't entirely sure what to say to her. It wasn't like she was her parent, she couldn't tell her what to do. Even if she did, it's not like she had the authority over her to make her listen. "Ah-- don't ...poke anyone's eye out?" Erin gave Shin an apologetic glance.

Alarmed, Jessica spun on her heel to face this new voice. "Ah! I must have missed the..." she paused to think for a moment. "Witch! Yes! You are the witch, who enchanted me to steal my cakes!" She now turned to cover all of her threats. The Overlord on the left, the evil knight in the center, and the just as dangerous Witch to the right. She smirked wickedly, trying to look menacing.
"You don't move either, witch! Now, hand 'em over! All of the cakes you stole! Now!"
HinoKaze - August 21, 2008 03:51 AM (GMT)
Shin gave an annoyed sigh as he lowered his weapon. Well, he didn't really need to worry about dying or anything, although he knew getting whacked by a wooden sword wasn't very fun. The little girl seemed to be trying to frighten them, though she was more annoying Shin than anything. He found the time to quickly write a note to the girl, and did so. He then propped up the notebook with his message on it in front of him.
QUOTE
I stole no pastries and I made these fresh in the morning kid. First of all, what is wrong with you? Take too many hits to the head? Second of all, you are disturbing the peace of my cafe. Please leave or I shall remove you.
Shin then gave a sharp point at the door, signaling Jessica to get the hell out of his store.
Notsil - August 21, 2008 04:00 AM (GMT)
Oh.
Oh, oh oh. Jessica glared back over the Overlord's threatening message. He obviously must have thought he was above speaking to a lowly sea faring child such as herself. She would not stand for such disrespect, let alone from a lying thief like him. She yanked the notebook from the Overlord's hands with every ounce of courage she could muster. Quickly, she scribbled a message back to him in messy red crayon;
QUOTE
Your writing tricks don't scare me, King of Pastry Jerks Thieves!
Give me the cakes you stole! |
Jessica then gave a sharp point at the pastry counter, signaling The King of Thieves to hand the goods the hell over.

What the hell just happened? Was this..some sort of joke..or perhaps a distraction? Either way, Vonte seemed quite confused by the childs interference. Then, suddenly he was swayed by the sound of Erin's laughter. From the short time that they had known eachother he had never seen her laugh so much, With that being said, he himself couldnt hdlp but to laugh. The girl was simply adorable and all of her youth. The only bad thing about this..was Shin's frustration.
Although Vonte wanted to laugh..he couldnt on account of Shin's growing anger.
"Hey..how about I buy you a cookie hmm?" Vonte asked the child with a small grin. "Then we can all be happy..Come on what do ya say?" He added in a convincing voice.
Notsil - August 21, 2008 05:33 AM (GMT)
One cookie? One cookie? Jessica had brought this citadel of darkness to its knees, and they expected to get away with only freeing one of her lost friends? No. That wasn't good enough. She crossed her arms stubbornly, continuing to stare down the ever so silent overlord. She would not back down until things were set straight here. The pirate garbed in orange crossed her arms stubbornly.
"No. Justice shall be delivered to all of my kidnapped treats! I demand one whole cake, as well as that poor cookie you took as well!"
She kept her eyes locked with the king, and her sword held ready to fight his legions of guardians if need be.
"I will accept no less!"
HinoKaze - August 21, 2008 10:15 PM (GMT)
So she wanted a cake? She barged into his shop for a single cake?! Shin's eyebrow twitched a bit before something sparked in his mind. They didn't specify WHICH cake....And lets just say he had the perfect one in mind, one that the employee who should have shown up but didn't showed him. Shin tore the page out and wrote another note.
QUOTE
Wait right there. I'll grab a rather amazing cake for you then little girl.
Shin had a grin that not many people saw. A grin of wickedness and mischief. Yess...Of course! Why didn't he think of it! The ultimate cake of doom, the Super Chocolate Death Cake. He ran into the kitchen, and if everyone listened carefully, what sounded like a Latin symphony was playing and a dark aura also seemed to be emitting from the kitchen. Shin then came out of the kitchen with a small chocolate cake in his arms, a pair of black sunglasses and a face mask. The cake itself looked perfectly normal, except for two small things.
1) It had a small sign coming out of it that said "Cake Hazard"
2) It had white frosting on top in the shape of a bio-hazard sign.
This fearsome cake actually knocked Shin out the first time he tried it. Plopping it on the counter, he wrote a note.
QUOTE
Your cake is here brave chibi ojou-sama.
Shin also set down a glass of neon orange liquid next to the cake, another delicious but crazy thing made by his employee, Falcon Punch. Once that was done, he went back behind the counter and hid, only with the top of his head sticking out so he could see the results of his works.
Vanilla Man - August 21, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
A whole cake..? For one little girl..? Vonte's expression was quite blank upon hearing her request. Sure he could buy her a cake but...
hm? Vonte thought to himself when he overlooked the small note that shin had written to the little girl. Sure it wasnt any of his business..but why not be nosy? Turns out Shin decided to bake her a delicious cake! Ha! Atleast this wouldnt come out of his pocket. "Coolness..." He whispered with a small smile.
When Shin was finished, Vonte couldnt help but to drowl alittle at the mouth-watering looking cake. It looked so perfect, so delicious..but ofcourse he couldnt have a taste. "Lucky.." He silently pouted to himself.
Jin - August 23, 2008 05:20 AM (GMT)
The small girl jerked Shin's notebook away from him (Erin smirked at the child's bravado), scribbling with a crayon something that she could not see. She then gestured pointedly at the pastry counter. This was all too much. Shin was probably angry at her for laughing and not really helping this situation much-- but it was just too damn funny. She found herself battling a large smile, still.
Vonte offered to buy her a cookie, but she seemed shocked at the mere idea of this. At first she thought it was because she was pleased, but she soon found she was wrong. "No. Justice shall be delivered to all of my kidnapped treats! I demand one whole cake, as well as that poor cookie you took as well! I will accept no less!" She held her sword at the ready. Shin and the young girl stared eachother down for what felt like eternity; the entire time Erin was snickering behind her hand from their exchange of words (rather, the girl's words). Shin finally wrote something which, again, Erin did not see. Then he went into the back, wearing a smile she had never seen on him before. What was that smile? Moments earlier he was furious; nothing worth smiling about.
As they waited in silence, Erin was sure she could hear a Latin symphony from the kitchen. Erin exchanged glances with Vonte, just to assure herself that he heard it too, and that she wasn't going insane. When Shin returned, he had a small chocolate cake, but what was more noticeable was the face mask and black sunglasses he wore. Yet even more noticeable still, was the sign sticking out of the cake saying 'cake hazard' and it's biohazard sign painted on with white icing. She gazed at it skeptically, an eyebrow raised. He then sat down a neon liquid.
She wondered absently if it would kill her. Erin found herself plotting the quickest escape route; if she did die, the authorities would surely be here-- being at the crime scene probably wouldn't be the best idea. All of this stemmed from a mostly-joking thought.
Most of her amusement had gone now, as she watched the small girl. Would this be good enough for her?
Katieface - August 24, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
Elizabeth took a big breath before entering the shop. Well, it was more like several breaths, and it took nearly half an hour. She didn't know if this was the right thing to do, and she was terrified of what would happen when she pushed the door. Would Mr. Seisuka glare at her? Would he cry again? Would he ignore her. All were horrible. All made her want to run far away, and hide under a rock, but she stood firmly in front of the door, and hoped people weren't staring at her weird. Mr. Seisuka was her first friend, and she needed to know what she was going to have to do to befriend him again. He was important to her. He was the only reason she hadn't thrown in the towel, and returned to the city. She took a final deep breath, and tentatively pushed the door open. She stood a little way back from the counter, and stood in fifth position. She stuffed her hands into her pocket, and felt his note grace her still mittened hands. She pulled it out, and looked down at it scanning over the words she had memorized. The paper had been folded and opened so many times that a small hole had started to form at the more folded parts of the letter.
I surely hope that you don't mean to shut yourself in your home. I'd be happy to meet you again and I hope we do soon.
Her eyes always stopped at this line. This was the one that made her the most uncomfortable. She knew he was probably just being nice. That he didn't care about her, and that no matter what the letter said, he would probably never write to her again. She closed her eyes and wrinkled her nose, in attempts to hold in tears, and waited awkwardly, and nervously for.....something....
HinoKaze - August 24, 2008 04:12 AM (GMT)
Shin heard the jingling of bells from his door and after removing the mask and sunglasses, poked his head out from the counter. When he looked, he saw something that surprised him slightly, but nevertheless brought a smile to his face. It was Elizabeth. So she DID decide to come and see him after all! He stood up from the counter, still with the smile on this face, and gave a welcoming wave to Elizabeth. At least the letter he sent got to her, otherwise she wouldn't be in the shop looking so nervous....Or maybe she would. Either way, she was in front of him, and that was a small relief. He wondered what she thought about his letter, maybe thinking he was spouting lies or something? Certainly that wasn't like her, but anything could happen in the world after all. Well, he just hoped that wasn't the case. Shin quickly wrote a note, forgetting the whole fiasco in front of him temporarily, then placed it in front of him so Elizabeth could see it.
QUOTE
Glad to see you haven't shut yourself inside your home. Welcome
Katieface - August 24, 2008 04:28 AM (GMT)
Elizabeth glanced at the note scribbled to her hurriedly, and if turing on a faucet, began spouting apologies which lacked her a typical stutter, but also lacked pauses for breath too. "I'msosorryforstoppingby. Iunderstandifyouhateme, butyoussaidintheletterthatyoudidn'twantmetolockmyselfintheinn. I'msorryabouttheotherday. Ineverthoughtyouwerealiaroranthing. youjustcaughtmeoffguard. I'msosorrythatImadeyoucry. thatwasthelastthingIeverwantedtodo. youshouldn'tapoligize. everythingwasmyfaultI'msorry,"She paused because she had run out of breath, and her face was probably starting to turn blue. She took a deep breath and few more shallow, nervous breaths afterwards. She didn't know if she should run off, or approach the counter. She stayed glued to her spot, which was far enough from the counter, but still close enough to hold a conversation. Her hands shot out in front of her, and she clasped them together in a position that may have made the people around her wonder what was wrong with her. She hung her head as she blushed in embarrassment, and a touch of fear.
HinoKaze - August 24, 2008 04:46 AM (GMT)
((You Reeeeeeally stretched the page.))
Shin just blinked in response. He ASSUMED she was apologizing to him since he managed to catch the word "sorry", then the rest just kinda zoomed by him. He didn't know any human could talk so quickly, and well, Elizabeth started turning blue as she talked, which wasn't a good sign. He tried running through his head again, and it came out as one massive apology apparently. Shin quickly wrote down another note and put it out in front of him like he did earlier before.
QUOTE
Sorry, but what you just said went in one ear and zoomed out the other except a few parts. I feel it's appropriate for me to say you're forgiven though?
So said the message. He also carried a quizzical expression on his face...But he was forgetting something. What could it be? Ah yes. The crazy little girl who barged into his shop. He blinked a couple times, then his sense of alarm reached him and he quickly wrote a note.
QUOTE
Oops. Nearly forgot. The little girl there is having a house special, and I suggest everyone take cover and watch the show.
So said the rather messily written message before Shin ducked behind the counter again.
