Glaux almighty, do these owls talk about nothing but weapons and fighting wars? That single thought echoed in the mind of the young Barn Owl...again...for the hundredth time within two hours... Here, they were supposed to discuss tapping, but one of the blasted owls brought up the war subject again and had the attention of the parliament diverted...for the second time in three meetings which all happened in a week.
Swiftsilver was losing it, no, she'd already lost it. The only thing that kept her from saying the worst curse known in owl vocabulary - 'Sprink' - was her dignity. Honestly, these owls were paranoid, too paranoid that the enemy might break through their defenses or something. The tapping had been delayed for a week because of that frinking war and there was a lovely gale that she wanted to take a chaw out into. Oh well, might as well relax while they go at it... Turning to her side, she started a conversation with the Barn Owl sitting beside her: Mist. Mist was a very beautiful owl in every sense. In fact, they both were. Only difference between the two were their outer personalities. Mist was always so kind and gentle. Swiftsilver was gruff and distant, however, they were both fiercely loyal to Ga'Hoole and both possesed Ga'. Swiftsilver had never really been like this. There was a time when she was like Mist, but then, having fought in so many battles and wars had hardened her heart. True, she was still loving, but you had to look really deep inside. "Well, this has been the second time this week that they've switched the subject. Care to do the honours of helping me clamp their beaks shut?" Swiftsilver grumbled, a gleam of humor shining in her eyes. "Just so they'll listen. Tappings have already been delayed long enough..." |

"Let's do something about it...Lets change the subject to tapping..." sighed Mist in boredom.
Mist could tell Swifsilver hated talking about war, and battle routines, or at least for two weeks straight! Mist had always agreed with Swiftsilver, and this was a big agreement. This frinked both of them off, sprink on war! "What should we say, Swiftsilver?" "Is there something you would like to share, Mist and Swiftsilver?" blurted out the parliament member that was speaking. They looked at eachother with embarrasment wiped all over their faces. "Erm..uh..." This post has been edited by Hurricane on Aug 17 2006, 08:41 AM |

OOC// Mist, Swiftsilver is my character. It means you have no control over what she does, when she does it. I've made that mistake once before, so I'll excuse you this once...I'll just RP something to do with your post, however, I will delete the parts where you used my character. Sorry...It's just what I'm supposed to do as a mod...
"Hmm... I'm more than willing. I can't stand this war talk anymore. I'll do something." Swiftsilver muttered to the Barn Owl beside her. Great frinking Glaux. This thing has happened too many times. "What should we say, Swiftsilver?" Mist asked. Swiftsilver merely smirked, tilted her head towards Mist and muttered, "Well, I could say 'Hello, we're still here you know. Aren't we supposed to be talking about the blasted tappings that have been delayed because of the frinking war subject. Please forget the racdrop battle claws and reinforcements and get to the sprinking point! TAPPING FOR CHAWS!!!" When the parliament member who had been speaking asked them whether they had something to share, they had been uncertain and replied with a "Erm..uh.." until Swiftsilver decided that that was that and got up to rtepeat what she said to Mist. When she had finished, the entire parliament was silent. One could have heard a leaf fall to the ground. All the owls were staring at her, their beaks fallen open in shock. Swiftsilver just smiled and continued, "Finally, now. I'd like Ailill for the Weather chaw. He's got some rather strong wings despite that small build of his..." |

“Tappings,” apathetically muttered the darkly banded Eagle Owl as he scratched his coal black talon on a piece of yellowed parchment that was draped over his part of the white birch. The light of the candles flickered over Swiftsilver’s shining white facial disc as her normally distant attitude became down to earth, and the Eagle Owl had to admit she was practical in getting her point across. Eustace was already in a fairly bad mood after being told he couldn’t fly with his chaw tonight because of this Parliament meeting, and his temper continued to worsen. He had been trying to change the subject to what they were going to do about the coming battle; he loved a good fight, and he wanted to assess his chaw, so to speak. As the Barn Owl finished her request for the minute owl that had accidentally crashed into his port wing last week, he decided to put in his two centipedes to the situation now unfolding. He puffed up his buff feathers to make him look even larger, trying to reassure himself as much as anyone in what he was to say.
“Now Swiftsilverryb,” he said in the low hoots of his species. “I agree we need to talk about tappings. Ga’Hoole’s future rests in the flight feathers of our young’uns.” He was quoting a favourite line from one of the books all rybs were recommended to read—The Art of Teaching by Red Ruhless. “However, I myself have not brought the necessary information for the hollows my vines should be in.” His mind wandered back to the insanely gargantuan piles of notes sitting on his desk: dozens of owls’ names with a check or an x scribbled next to it in ebon ink. He had meant to take that list with him tonight, but there had been so much discussion about the pending war that he didn’t think that they would even mention the reason they had gathered in the chamber. “I cannot speak for other rybs,” he added, “but I do not think everyone is—erm—entirely prepared for the discussion of this matter.” |
