It was a bright, cheery day around the Empire State Building. The Sun shone brightly in the sky. Hot dog and hamburger vendors peddled their wares to the masses of starving tourists, who had come to see the glorious monument. They oo-ed and aww-ed from the base looking up, then they oo-ed and aww-ed from the roof looking down. It was a marvel that the building hadn't been destroyed during the disaster last Sunday. But even in the wreckage, the Empire State building gave a message to all who viewed it. Though battered by giants, goblins and octopi, New York would always stay strong.

Yes, it would have been a perfect day, if the Nazis hadn't shown up.

Powered by sharp hisses of steam, three figures leaped briskly from rooftop to rooftop. Like others in the city, they defied physics in their armored plated suits. They moved with no fear, no hesitation, only stopping to look down on the streets in wonder. Finally, they stopped on top of the building, right across from the prominent monument. The first to land was the Red figure, black swastikas of steel emblazoned across his body. Beside him was the White figure, bearing the noble black Eagle perched atop a swastika menacingly on the front of the armor. The Black figure landed last, his armored frame a proud mantle for the white German cross.

The armored men huddled together, gesturing wildly. Though they were silent during the trip, now they spoke furiously. Accusing fingers pointed at the building, the cars, the people, and the hot dog stands as they argued in German. For the trio, something was deeply amiss.

The Red figure shouted his companions down, making the decision for them. He strode to the side of the building, aiming his fist at the Empire State building. A single rocket rose from the for-arm of the armor, and in a scream of ignition, launched itself into the air.

The rocket sailed gracefully through the sky, barreling warhead first towards an window. Then, without warning, a talon of alien metal descended from the above, seized the rocket, twisted it around in a wide arc, and sent it spiralling back towards the man who had launched it.

The Germans shrieked, diving out of the way as the missile struck the roof they had been standing on. It exploded in a hateful cry, laying the roofing beneath it to waste. As the smoke rose, the Darkhawk pushed through the vapor, landing before the armored men.

"You guys are fast, I'll admit that. Now, I'm going to have to ask you to stop blowing things up for a while. Especially that thing. It's somewhat important." Droned the Android impatiently.

"Dummkopf! Wissen Sie nicht, wem wir sind?" Shrieked the White German. Energy seemed to fill the bodies and spirits of the three men as a jaunty parade tune began to blast through the air.

The White Nazi dropped into a fighting stance. "Ich bin der vortreffliche Adler! Ich bin das reine, arische Blut, das meine Leute durchfließt! Mit meinen Greifern bereinige ich jede mögliche Verunreinigung vom einem zutreffenden Rennen! Die Juden und die Schwarzen verderben nie unsere Heimaten, solange ich stehe!"

"What?" Asked the youth, very confused,

The Black one move to the side, and moved his fists in an violent but controlled fashion "Ich bin das vortreffliche Kreuz! Ich sehe alles die, denen Übel tun würde zu, meine Familie und meine Heimaten! Mit schrecklichen Greifern fliege ich unten auf die Feinde meiner Art und hole ihnen schnelle Zerstörung! Ihr fauliges Feuer kann meine Flügel brennen, aber als Bediensteter des Reichs, liefere ich immer Gerechtigkeit!

"I totally can't understand a word you're saying." Said Darkhawk, but the men just kept shouting.

Last, but certainly not least, the Red german stepped forward, and pointed at the Android. "Ich bin das vortreffliche Hakenkreuz! Ich bin der Glaube und die Widmung meiner Leute. Geführt durch Führer Adolf Hitler, werden wir der fehlerhaftere Wille nie und meine Hand nicht geblieben! Durch meine Arbeiten steht unser tausend Jahr-Reich unbeanstandet! Und durch meine Wörter, sieht die ganze Europa den Ruhm unseres Reiches und wirft hinunter die Juden von ihren Aufsätzen!"

Darkhawk looked around. "Where is that music coming from?"

Gathering togther, the Nazies shouted out the final piece of their speach. "Zusammen sind wir, MANNSCHAFT PANZWERFER!" They all cried in pure jubilation.

Chris stood there for a second, watching the posing men, then buried his head in his hand. "That's... great." He uttered, then shook his head. "Look, I don't know how long you guys were stuck in that sunken U-boat. I don't even know how you're all still alive. But I'm pretty sure there's been some changes in the past 60 odd years since World War 2 ended. Maybe you should just take those suits off, grab some coffee, and speak with a translator before doing anything you may regre-"

Darkhawk didn't get to finish his sentence. Three steam powered cannonball-like projectiles slammed into his body, throwing the android across the street and into the Empire State building. The force was so great that Darkhawk crashed through many walls, cubicles, and even 2 floors before a huge block of television equipment stopped his flight. People screamed at the noise and the disaster, fleeing for the exits.

Pain filled Chris's brain, paralyzing him momentarily. Stupid scientists, dragging up sunken German U-boats. Stupid history class, forcing a field trip to the docks. Stupid Hitler for putting those 3 psychos on it.

Groaning mentally, Darkhawk slowly pulled his metal form from the debris. He turned to one of the women nearby, paralyzed with fear or shock or something.
"Hey, you haven't happened to see 3 knight-looking guys screaming angrily in German, have you?"

"Wo ist die Maschine Mann?!" Was the angry scream from a few floors up. Closely followed by an explosion.

Darkhawk forced a sigh from the synthesizer.

"Never mind."

Susan's high position at Von Doom Industries had always taken up a lot of her time, but she had never been one to neglect her friends because of it. Much to her embarrassment and regret, that seemed to be what had happened since the accident in space. It was something Sue had vowed to make up for.

So when one of her friends from MIT was in New York for the weekend, Sue had jumped on the chance to show her around. The Empire State Building was first on the list.

She should have known that a normal day out was too much to ask for. Sue was politely warding off an autograph seeker while Kelly looked on, half amused and half embarrassed, when a sudden explosion came from the other end of the observation deck. People shrieked in fear. True to form, the tourists rushed to that side to see what had happened. Through the smoke and rubble it was difficult to see any details. That something had been destroyed that wasn't supposed to be, however, was obvious.

Sue pushed her way through the crowd with Kelly. Upon recognizing her, most stepped aside without complaints. Teeth pressed into her lip, Sue narrowed her eyes and tried to see what had happened. She needed to get over there somehow to see if someone had been injured or if she could help. Taking the elevator down and back up the other building would take too long, but she didn't trust her control over her forcefields to get her to the other building safely.

All of a sudden, something shot into the Empire State Building and the floor she was standing on shook briefly. Now, the crowd really panicked. Spinning around, Susan shouted at Kelly over the screams, "Try to get out of here! I have to go help." There was no time to apologize or talk further. She dashed off.

This was one of the times that Sue was grateful for her fame. Despite the panic of tourists and employees alike, they let her pass without a single objection. Sue raced down the staff stairways, knowing better than to try for the elevator at a time like this. The thick clouds of dust indicated where the damage was.

"Let me through!" she said, gritting her teeth as she tried to make it onto the rest of the floor. The scared employees kept pushing her back into the stairwell. Finally, she made it.

"Is anyone injured?" The shout seemed to disappear in the noise of the commotion around her. "Anyone need help?" Again, no answer came. Sue squinted her eyes and peered around, looking for victims trapped under the rubble. It was hard to see past the smoke, but something glimmering and metal caught her attention. With a wave of her hand, Sue sent out a powerful blast which temporarily cleared the space before her. The form became more defined. It looked like an armour, but too slim to be one of Iron Man's. It wasn't anyone she recognized. Either way, he didn't seem as though he belonged. That made it likely that he knew something, so Sue ran that way. When another explosion sounded from above, she flinched. Whatever was happening, she prayed to God it wasn't a repeat of Sunday.

"Do you know what's going on?" she demanded, her tone urgent. Hopefully the floors above had already cleared enough that no one else had gotten hurt... If someone had injured Kelly, they were going to be in for a world of pain.

Steve Rogers might have been able to go almost an entire week without having to even don that blue chain-mesh costuming that was the clothing of his true, public face. In fact, he had even become so sure that things had settled down that he was taking the day to run simple errands and give Steve Rogers more attention than Captain America for once. Earlier in the day he had visited Bucky and Gail for bagels and coffee, which resulted in a great conversation that included everything from memories reminiscent of an age long past to the modern political scene.

After leaving their place, Manhattan came calling. The first thing Steve had done was stop by the dry cleaners to drop off some of his mundane clothes that were in serious need of a professionals touch. Not far from there was a barber who’d cut his overgrown blonde hair into something that was close-cropped and would fit under his mask without making his head itchy. Last, but not least, he’d took a cab down to the business district to fill out some insurance paper work and look at some information on policies.

The insurance office had an excellent view of the Empire State building from where it stood in relation to the skyline. It must have been a pretty expensive endeavor getting a hold of an office with such an expansive view, and he credited the insurance company for it. After signing some paper work and watching the agent head into the next room, Steve turned his chair and tilted his head to the side to enjoy the view.

But something caught his attention; there was a projectile headed straight for that symbol of New York State itself. The most symbolic structure in all of the United States was in serious danger, along with the thousands of people in and round it. Steve didn’t wait to see if the projectile it, he had already raced out the door and torn half of his clothes off in a fit of determination.

Whizzing passed the elevator; he headed for the stairs and pulled down his mask just as he crossed the threshold. Their spiral formation made it easy for him to leap down from tier to tier, seriously increasing his speed of declination. Once he reached street level, he nearly broke the revolving exit door off its center pole when flying through it.

It wasn’t far now; just a few blocks of tireless running and he’d be there. He’d almost completely forgotten that his shield was not with him. The thought hit him as he vaulted himself in a forward handspring over a police car that had positioned itself too far over the pedestrian crosswalk. He might be in trouble here if there was no other heroes around to have seen it.

Jetting passed the final block and grabbing a street pole with his left hand so he wouldn’t lose momentum as he pivoted around it, he saw the scene and quickly analyzed it as best he could. The three armored soldiers caught his attention immediately. One had a wrist-launcher still smoking from the warhead it had launched. Cap hadn’t been noticed yet, as their attention seemed to be on another person who had not come into view just yet.

Cap stopped in the center of the street, getting behind a limo that was covering what he wanted, and digging his back into it to slowly push it forward. The smell of hot waste wafted into his nostrils, and as nauseating as it might be, Cap smiled. He reached down to pull off the manhole cover that was now beneath him, and flung it at the white-armored soldier just as he would his shield.

It sliced through the air, headed for the target, and Cap began running forward once more. Now he had at least the attention of one of them.

Foe defeated, the three armor-clad Germans prepared to finish the job. With a loud hiss of steam, they ran forward and leaped high, forced through the sky by the power of compressed air. The Black Nazi put too much power into his jump, and crashed several floors above the whole made by the android. The Red Nazi jumped perfectly, landing in the hole and climbing through the rubble to reach his prey. The White Nazi didn't reach the building at all. He was intercepted in mid-air, smashed violently to the side by Cap's spinning slab of sewer metal! The white armor whistled through the air, landing on the ground with a loud crash as pedestrians fled the scene.

The White Nazi righted himself, then jumped in recognition as he spied Steve's familiar red, white and blue costume. "Es Ist Kapitän Amerika! Kapitän Amerika! Er ist lebendig! Würfel-Judeschoßhund!" Shrieked the man, large vents opening out of his sides. A torrent of howling, scorching steam surged out of the vents towards the Captain, scalding all the poor civilians that got in it's way.

Just as Darkhawk had pulled his battered frame from the rubble when a blast of something forced all the dust to the floor. Darkhawk turned sharply, only to see, to his relief, another civilian.

"Do you know what's going on?"

The android nodded. "Somebody woke up Hitler's Power Rangers, and they've got a serious hate-on for American monuments. Evacuate the building and get out of here. The Area is very dangerous right now."

Weird. Chris felt like he had seen the pretty woman before, but for the life of him he couldn't remember where.

Darkhawk didn't get time to dwell on it, however, as Red swastika covered armor leaped into the room. "Auslieferungmaschine Mann! Sie können nicht gewin- Ooof!" The Nazi's shout was interrupted as Darkhawk's inhumanly fast frame smashed hard into his body. The Nazi was sent flying back, crashing into a stack of TVs electricity crackled from the destroyed appliances around the Red Armored body.

Another loud explosion came from the ceiling, and the Black Armor fell through the massive hole that was left. Blood covered it's hands, feet and chest, dripping down the Third Reich Eagle on his chest. Seeing Darkhawk attacking his fallen brother, the Black armor immediately reached for Sue to use as a hostage against the android.

OOC: Feel free to NPC the Nazi's if you want.

"Somebody woke up Hitler's Power Rangers, and they've got a serious hate-on for American monuments. Evacuate the building and get out of here. The Area is very dangerous right now."

"I noticed." The gaping hole in the wall made that obvious. Keeping the people safe was her main priority, but if these people kept blowing things up that was rapidly becoming problematic. Who were they, anyway? Hitler's Power Rangers? These were Nazis? Just when she thought her life had reached ultimate weirdness by gremlins trying to kill her baby brother (who could set himself on fire and fly around the city now), something like this happened.

Sue spun around when someone else crashed into the room. She instinctively shielded herself; it turned out not to be necessary. There was no time to act. Darkhawk went flying at the newcomer and the two landed in a heap of equipment. In those few brief moments, however, Sue had taken notice of the metal swastikas covering the man's body.

Yup. Nazis. Real life Nazis. This was going to be great.

Susan was sure that if Johnny were there, he would manage to find something incredibly funny about all this. Ben would wonder if Nazis broke the same way other people did. Reed would showcase a never before shown knowledge of German and try to reason with them.

Sue, for the moment, was more preoccupied with the next explosion and the visitor it brought with it. Another one?! How many were there? There was a moment of dread as Sue recognized the blood on him. Dear God, she hoped that wasn't anyone's here. He wasted no time made and made a grab for her.

"Lass mein Brüder frei, Robotergeschöpf!" he instructed. "Oder-"

"Yeah, I don't think so," Sue said, bringing up her arms to cast a shield around herself. The Nazi looked at her in surprise.

"Eine Frau? Aber-"

Having made sure the space behind him was free, Sue turned the shield into a powerful blast and he was sent into the wall behind him. Her knowledge of German was rudimentary at best. She still understood his last few words. Even maniacal Nazis hell-bent on destroying the Empire State Building gave her flak for being a woman. How typical.

Sue turned to face Darkhawk. "Nazis?" Her tone was incredulous. She quickly shook her head. "Are there any others? And do they speak even a lick of English?" She turned her head as the one in the dark armour got up again, and she outstretched one arm to pin him down with a force field and a cold look.

OOC: Skid's said we can continue under the assumption that the white nazi sucker punched cap. Yay!

Darkhawk and the Nazi tussled violently in the pile of destroyed television appliances. There was a loud hiss, and Chris was knocked away from the Red Nazi in a burst of high-pressure steam. He recovered in mid air, twisting into a flip and landing on his feet. Just as the armored fascist pulled himself from the wreckage, Darkhawk was on him again.

Chris smashed his ebony fist into the faceplate of the Nazi, delighting in the way the metal buckled under his strength. He followed up with a right hook, adding another dent to the swastika-covered frame.

The stumbled backwards from the force of the Android's blows, but regained his footing enough to counterattack. The Nazi balled his hands together, and slammed them down on Darkhawk's helmet. Robotic pain screamed in Chris's mind as the red armor followed up with a hard knee into his stomach.

Getting an idea, Chris held the Nazi close as his claws extended. Chris slashed his talons into the armor, cutting an opening into the metal. Grinning mentally, Chris retracted his claws and drove his fist into the makeshift opening, forcing a pained gasp from the Nazi.

Cold anger scalding his robotic mind, Darkhawk was about to deliver another blow when he heard a shrieking Nazi command. "Lass mein Brüder frei, Robotergeschöpf!" Cried the black armored figure as it made a grab for the civilian.

Fuck! Chris should have paid more attention to his surroundings, and not focused on one opponent. Stupid, stupid!

"Yeah, I don't think so," Sue said, bringing up her arms to cast a shield around herself. The Nazi looked at her in surprise.

Chris's reaction was much like the Nazi's. If he had eyes, they'd go wide. Again, this all seemed so very familiar.

"Eine Frau? Aber-" Were the black armored fellow's last words before getting blasted into the floor. Darkhawk took advantage of the distraction, charging the amulet and sending a ray of pure Nightmare laced with purple energy into the opening in the Red Nazi's armor.

"Nien!" Shrieked the fascist as he was thrown haphazardly into the wall from the power of the Darkforce blast, and collapsed on the ground, leaking steam from multiple points on his body.

Darkhawk took a mental breath, brushed some of the debris off his body, then turned to look at Sue Summers. Finally, it all clicked.

"You're the Invisible Woman." He droned, finally recognising her. Okay, he probably should have realised who she was, but Chris didn't watch much T.V anymore...

"Nazis?" Her tone was incredulous.

"Nazis." The Android confirmed dryly. No, he couldn't quite believe it either.

"Are there any others? And do they speak even a lick of English?"

Darkhawk looked around, remembering that there were only 2 in the melee. "There's a white one, but I don't know where he got to. I tried reasoning with them, but they either don't understand English or don't care. My money's on both."

Sue's eyes widened slightly when a dark purple beam of energy spiraled out of Darkhawk into his opponent. The effects were destructive. The scientist in her reared its curious head. She wondered what the energy consisted of, and what powered it. There were at least a dozen other questions that they couldn't get into at that moment.

"You're the Invisible Woman."

She nodded. "Since recently. And you are?" For a moment she was glad that he hadn't recognized her immediately. And that he'd called her the Invisible Woman instead of Girl. Sue liked to think that she had shed that title a while ago. However, there were more important things to focus on.

"Nazis."

Nazis. Her life was officially a freakshow. If she wasn't stuck in a mental ward in a dozen years, she'd write a book about all this and make a small fortune. At the very least, she would look back on all of this and laugh. That mental ward thing was seeming like a big 'if' at that time though.

Focus, Susan. She asked him if there were any others. They seemed to have the ones here under control. The one who had been on the receiving end of Darkhawk's purple whammy was out cold. The one she had pinned under her field wouldn't be escaping until she said so. And that wasn't going to happen.

"There's a white one, but I don't know where he got to. I tried reasoning with them, but they either don't understand English or don't care. My money's on both."

"Perfect," Sue sighed, shaking her head. "I'm new at this superhero gig, but going after the third seems like the thing to do. But we should restrain these two until police get here." She didn't want to place any bets on when the Nazi dressed in red came to, and while she could knock the other one out a less violent option would be better. Not to mention the same caveat counted there. She looked around the room. "Any ideas?"

"Since recently. And you are?"

"Darkhawk. It's an honour." Chris was going to offer a hand to sake, but decided it would be inappropriate given the situation. He didn't really understand the 'since recently' comment. The Fantastic 4 had been operational longer than Chris had possessed the amulet. But then again, they were more famous for their brilliance and antics than patrolling the streets for bad guys to beat up.

"Perfect," Sue sighed, shaking her head. "I'm new at this superhero gig, but going after the third seems like the thing to do. But we should restrain these two until police get here."

While Darkhawk was eager to find the last fascist and lay some serious hurt on him, he had to admit that seeing to these two was very important. He looked at the hissing steam filling the room and the two captured villains, thinking hard.

"Any ideas?"

Right then, the solution seemed clear.

"They're just guys in armor, so... just shred the armor." Determined Darkhawk, walking back over to the Nazi he defeated. Out came the claws again, and the youth tore up the steam-leaking steel that hid the pilot. He quickly pulled out a small man in a rubber suit and a full-face gas mask.

"That's one."

((OOC: Sorry for the crappyness.))

"Darkhawk. It's an honour."

Sue was unable to keep from scrunching her face. "Please don't say that," she said, a tense chuckle sounding through her voice.

Darkhawk was certainly an interesting name. But considering her fiancé went by Mr. Fantastic and her little brother called himself the Human Torch, Sue probably couldn't comment on it. Her own 'superhero name' wasn't the height of wit either. At least Darkhawk had the intimidation factor. All that spoke in favor of Invisible Woman was that it was descriptive to the point of dullness.

Sue didn't let those idle musings distract her. They needed to make sure these guys could do no further damage.

"They're just guys in armor, so... just shred the armor."

Head tilting to the side slightly, Susan watched as Darkhawk took care of the first one.

"That's one."

She turned in the direction of the one she still had pinned under her shield. "Let's try something new," she murmured under her breath. She placed a minuscule force bubble between the armor and the rubber suit underneath, and expanded it outwards. She was careful to apply the pressure on the metal and not the man. A larger field erected around it kept the steel debris from flying around the room when it tore to shreds. Sue decided not to think about what it would have looked like if the bubble had been within the man's body. It had not been long after first discovering her powers that she'd realized what she was capable of and it wasn't an idea she liked. It allowed her to enjoy a whole new level of confidence, but at the same time there was the fear of what would happen if she messed up.

The man let out a string of German profanities Sue didn't even try to translate. Instead she wiped a small bead of sweat from her forehead and walked to a nearby closet. Inside was enough room to hold the man for a while. Another bubble carried him over and dumped him inside unceremoniously, then Sue closed and locked the door.

"It's awfully quiet inside for number three to still be running around," Sue said, eying the empty hallway through an open door. The floors above them must have filtered out by now. Sirens wailed in the distance. "Maybe he never made it into the building." She walked towards the large hole in the wall that Darkhawk and the Red Nazi had entered the building through, squinting her eyes against the strong wind that prevailed this high above ground.

"Please don't say that,"

Darkhawk raised a mental eyebrow. It seemed that the Invisible Woman didn't enjoy the limelight. Not that Chris could blame her, given the media's reaction to superheroes in New York. Sure, they might like the the Fantastic Four now, but it only took one mistake and the Bugle would be on their asses like rabid dogs.

Chris cleared his head, and focused on the task at hand. The question of what to do with the Nazi's came up, and Darkhawk had a solution. He quickly tore the expensive old armor apart, and trapped the Nazi under some of the equipment they had smashed. The youth watched in amazement as Sue literally burst the black Nazi's armor apart from the inside. They never showed something like that on T.V

"It's awfully quiet inside for number three to still be running around,"

"Maybe he never made it into the building."

"Yeah, it is... Better check the windows." Determined Darkhawk, rushing to the walls to see if he could spot Nazi no. 3. Sue would find him first, however. Through the hole, Invisible woman could see a man in huge white armor standing over a scorched and beaten Captain America, steam-gun raised at the fallen man's head.

"Zeit zu sterben, Kapitän Amerika!" Shrieked the mad german

"Yeah, it is... Better check the windows."

Susan was already on her way. It took her a few moments to spot the last Nazi and the injured hero before him, since the wind outside and the complete chaos down on the streets got in the way. Once she could properly make out what was going on she didn't hesitate. She concentrated, peering down at the streets below. It was far away, further than she'd ever had to use her powers in serious circumstances. From the many experiments over the months she did know that distance was a problem for her.

Bystanders shrieked as an invisible force struck the Nazi and tossed him back on the street. The attack was blunt and uncoordinated, but it was all that Sue could manage from such a distance. A sharp headache hit her. There were countless of aspects of her powers that still needed refining. Sue put this one on the list.

"You can fly, right? Hurry," Sue said, voice raised because of the noise from below. She didn't trust her force bubbles to carry her down safely from such a height. It was a risk she might have taken under other circumstances, but she needed to keep fending off the Nazi until Darkhawk got there. She couldn't do that when she needed to concentrate on not being reduced to a bloody mess on the pavement.

From what Chris could see, the streets were in chaos. Everyone was fleeing the area, even people several blocks away who hadn't been involved were rushing out of their buildings and into the streets. Of course, they were just causing traffic to jam even further, leaving the panicked mass to either abandon their cars or honk their horns frantically.

The distant shriek of an angry German and the report of a machine gun alerted Darkhawk to the situation on the opposite side of the building. The android raced back and down through the hole, where Susan Storm was fending off the assault from the Nazi below. More surprisingly, his sensors picked up the badly injured form of Captain America below. Though Darkhawk had his reservations about the Avengers, there was no way in hell he was going to let a Nazi injury an important symbol like him and get away with it.

"You can fly, right? Hurry,"

"On it." Replied the hero, wings extending from his arms. He took to the air, swooping down and grabbing Invisible Woman as a hail of rockets smashed into the space she once occupied.

The German screamed in frustration, pointing his arms at the flying duo and pulling back the armor to reveal an arsenal of dangerous looking weapons. They fired all at once, spitting bullets, rockets, and high-pressure steam at the heroes.

"Fuck." Uttered Chris as he pushed his agile mechanical body to it's limits, diving and dodging the maelstrom of projectiles that tried desperately to find their mark. "Fuck." He insisted again, twisting his cargo out of the way of another volley as they approached the ground. He managed to dump Sue behind some cover on the ground between volleys, and twisted off into the air to draw away the Nazi's fire. "Fuck."

Once Sue managed to pick the Nazi and the beaten Avenger below, she ignored the rest of the chaos around it in favor of them. They needed to get down there quick.

"On it."

He grabbed her before Susan had the time to warn him about the incoming weapons. They escaped them by a hair's breath, and were on their way down to the streets before she knew it. She'd flown before with Johnny. After getting over her initial fear Sue had enjoyed it a lot. None of that crossed her mind now, though, not with an injured Steve Rogers down below and an angry Nazi pointing more weapons at them than Sue cared to count.

Not good.

Darkhawk swooped them out of the way and Sue was glad for it. She would likely have been able to shield the two of them with her powers, but she didn't know how strong those weapons were. Keeping up her powers while they were violently tearing through the air was another problem.

"Fuck."

"Seconded."

Finally he managed to put her down on the ground behind a truck. "Thanks." She didn't know if he heard it. Darkhawk immediately took off again, swearing in that strange mechanical voice of his. Sue ignored the frightened and excited exclamations of the crowd that had gathered and scanned the area for their time-traveling foe. His attention seemed to be away from Captain America for the moment. Quickly she shed her clothes, not for the first time glad for the unstable molecules. Walking around outside in nothing but her birthday suit, invisible or not, was not something she enjoyed.

Without any further ado, Sue's form rippled slightly and disappeared into the background behind her. She ran across the street. She kept a wary eye on the Nazi who was still distracted by Darkhawk. "Don't say anything," she whispered to the barely conscious Steve as she lifted him up, slipping arms underneath his armpits. He was heavy, no doubt from all that muscle she'd admired more than once in the past. That was the last thing on her mind now. She dragged him across the ground, but that method of transportation was a lot slower than she'd have liked. Gritting her teeth, Sue narrowed her eyes and formed an invisible platform underneath the man. He was raised a few inches above the pavement. The weight was no less strenuous on her already tired body, but the lack of friction helped. So did the adrenaline. As quickly as she could, Sue moved back to the truck that Darkhawk had first dropped her behind, hoping that the Nazi wouldn't spot the Captain's mysteriously floating body first...

Darkhawk sped through the air, weaving delightful acrobatic circles that would be particularly impressive if a flurry of deadly projectiles wasn't quickly following the path. The android tried to fly above the Nazi and draw his fire away from the civilians and the buildings, but some eventually sailed into the undefended towers of glass and steel. The youth could only wince mentally, and keep trying to avoid a bloody death.

His mind entwined with his body's tactical systems to work out a plan. As it stood, Darkhawk couldn't get a shot at the great white Nazi. In the movies, the hero usually made the villain shoot something stupid that screwed them over. Doing so here seemed like a good idea, but the populated streets and buildings made picking a target difficult. The Invisible Woman was carting Captain America's injured body away, so she couldn't help either. Dammit, he just needed one opening!

*Click* *Click* *Click* "Scheiße!"

Like, say, the Nazi running out of ammo.

The android whirled around, locking onto the white armor below. Sadly, while he had exhausted his bullet and missile reserves, the relic still had plenty of stream. The Nazi slammed his fists together, sending a gout of steam at the youth. Thinking fast, Chris charged his amulet and forced it out in a pulse, forming a shield of energy in front of him that deflected the brunt of the attack.

Darkhawk recalled what Sue did with her own shield, and figured it was worth a try. The crackling black-purple barrier hummed loudly, then surged through the air, splitting the beam of steam apart and smashing to the Nazi, sending the man across the street. Chris cheered mentally, then swooped in for another attack. If he could hit the armor before it started blasting steam again, he might be able to end this battle.

Sue returned to visibility now that the Cap's still visible body would tip her off anyway. She heard the crash of glass and her head swept around. Some of the Nazi's fire had hit the surrounding buildings in his attempts to take down Darkhawk. Only barely, Sue created a shield underneath the torrent of glass shards. The better part of it had flown inward, into a building which had to have been deserted at this part. She dropped the glass on a deserted spot on the pavement, inbetween awed onlookers. The rapid switching between her powers and their various applications was tiring, and getting more so with every moment that passed.

The wails of the sirens she'd heard earlier were getting louder by the second. Sue carefully lowered the body to the ground behind the truck, out of the attacker's view. The ambulance would be there soon. Her eyes narrowed she scanned the surrounding crowds. Had anyone else been injured during the fight? It didn't look that way.

Speaking of the fight... Darkhawk seemed to be gaining the upper hand. Sue breathed in relief. It wasn't over yet, though. The armored man was sent back across the street, but immediately made to get up and attack Darkhawk again. With a deep breath, Sue gathered her power for hopefully the last exertion of the day, and wrapped two force bubbles around the man's fists that seemed to be the source of the bursts of steam.

The Nazi looked at his hands in confusion, futilely trying to wrestle his arms free.

"He's all yours," Sue said, looking up at Darkhawk.

Darkhawk twisted in the air, lining up the amulet, his advanced targeting sensors, and the armored man below. But he was too fast. The Nazi, with a burst of steam from his legs, was quickly on his feet. The fascist armor refocused on Darkhawk, spewing curses in German. He raised his arms again, each forming large steam cannons to fry the flying android. Chris banked quickly to avoid the incoming blast.

But it never came. Orbs of force appeared around the Nazi's hands, and when they fired, they grew misty with steam. The shocked villain looked down at his hands in confusion and shock, shaking his arms and bashing his hands against the ground in an attempt to release them.

"He's all yours," Sue said, looking up at Darkhawk.

The Darkhawk grinned mentally as Sue gave leave for him to indulge in his slight sadistic streak. The android hovered overhead, calling the strange extradimensional energy into his body. He forced it into the amulet, which pulsed and glowed like a purple star. Then, the Darkforce erupted down on the armor in a massive cone, howling with rage and destruction. The Nightmare energy shredded through the German's armor, sending him flying down the street and into a parked car. The Nazi groaned, looking like he was going to get up, then fell back against the car, unconscious.

With the wail of the sirens getting closer and closer, Darkhawk flew down and landed on the ground beside Sue and the injured Avenger. He cocked his head at the man.

"Is he going to be okay?"

Susan watched at the armor's impressive display of power. There was an amulet that she hadn't taken much notice of earlier, which now glowed a bright purple. Was it a power source? Or merely an outlet? If she was already curious about it, no doubt Reed would be fascinated. She wondered if he even knew of this particular hero's existence. She hadn't.

The energy hit the German hard, and Sue released the fields just before it hit. The armor was shredded and the force knocked him unconscious with ease. Though she remained wary for a few moments, preparing to hit him with a blast of her own if he was still a threat, that faded quickly. It looked like they'd done it.

The crowd around them erupted in cheering, and Sue looked around with a bashful grin. The life of fame was something she still had to get used to, but this was doubtlessly the aspect she least minded.

There were still other things to focus on, however, and she didn't allow herself to get distracted by the attention. She returned to Captain America, kneeling down beside him at the same time that Darkhawk landed.

"Is he going to be okay?"

"I think so. He just received a blow to the head from what I can tell. He was conscious earlier, if barely, so I hope the damage won't be too bad." With his body, in peak human condition at it was, the odds were good he'd recover quickly. She looked up, and shrugged. "I'm a researcher, not a doctor." Right on cue, two police cars and an ambulance screeched as they turned the corner and entered the street. The crowd parted like the Red Sea before Moses.

Sue climbed back to her feet, allowing the ambulance workers to look after Steve Roguers while police took care of the crowd and the beaten Nazi. No doubt they would approach them soon.

"Nice work," she said, smiling at Darkhawk. She laughed suddenly, shaking her head. "God, Nazis? This city is getting stranger by the day." They were never going to believe her at home. "Are you going to stick around to talk to the police, or...?" She let the question hang in the air, just eying him inquisitively. Not all of the city's superheroes were as open as the Fantastic Four were.

As soon as the Nazi bit the dust, a mighty cheer rose from the crowd that had witnessed the destruction. Operating mostly alone and at night, the attention was very new to the hero and Chris wasn't really sure how to handle it. The crowd certainly fed his ego, but it made him feel slightly vulnerable too. This wasn't helping his efforts to remain unnoticed.

But what could Darkhawk have done? The Nazis had to go down, simple as that. What was Right overruled what Chris preferred every time. The Android tried to ignore all the people as he flew down, and inquired on Captain America's health.

"Is he going to be okay?"

"I think so. He just received a blow to the head from what I can tell. He was conscious earlier, if barely, so I hope the damage won't be too bad. I'm a researcher, not a doctor."

The Darkhawk nodded. "He should be fine. The ambulance is almost here." He Droned, as much to reassure the surrounding civilians as it was to reassure Sue.

"Nice work,"

"Thanks. You did a good job yourself. It would have been trickier to take those armors down without your assistance." Probably a lot more destructive too. Handling the firepower of just one of those fascists was troublesome enough. Chris didn't want to think what would have happened if he had to take on all three at once.

"God, Nazis? This city is getting stranger by the day."

Darkhawk absently scratched the back of his head. "I fought a woman named 'Joystick' one time. But I think steam-powered Nazis topped that bundle of crazy."

Along with the ambulance, a police car approached through the masses. Chris's paranoia reared it's ugly head again, and the youth decided that now might be a good time to leave.

"Are you going to stick around to talk to the police, or...?"

"I'm afraid not. They don't tend to like vigilantes." Especially if said vigilante was uncovering your evil conspiracy. The Darkhawk shook the Invisible Woman's hand. "It was a pleasure Ms. Storm. Maybe we'll meet again."

With those final words, the android's razor wings extended, and he shot off straight up into the air. Now that the fight was over, the hardest task lay ahead of the youth; thinking up the ginormous lie that would explain why he went missing the moment those armored bastard started to rampage all over the place.

"Joystick? And I thought my name was bad." Sue frowned. Hers was apt, if nothing else, but still. She didn't understand the importance of superhero names anyway. For the anonymous like Spider-Man and, apparently, Darkhawk, sure. But the Fantastic Four had been known as heroes by their real names for a while before Johnny christened them with their new ones. Sue doubted she'd ever use them herself. Mr. Fantastic and the Human Torch were mouthfuls for people she'd been simply calling Reed and Johnny since forever, and Thing still seemed pretty tactless.

... granted, she'd caught herself using Reed's codename sometimes, but that had been jokingly and under entirely different circumstances.

Police and ambulances finally arrived, much to Sue's relief. She was sure Captain America would be fine, but she'd feel a heck of a lot better once he was in the safe hands of professionals. Looking at Darkhawk, Sue asked if he'd be sticking around.

"I'm afraid not. They don't tend to like vigilantes."

She smiled. "I suppose not." Before she could point out that there had to be another way - the Four weren't officially sanctioned annd played hero without a problem - he surprised her by shaking her hand and taking off. She watched him fly off, one hand shielding her eyes from the sun.

Talk about an interesting day, she mused. There wasn't much time to reflect on it. A few excited autograph seekers were trying to catch her attention, but Sue was distracted by the sight of her friend making her way towards her. Thank God she was all right.

One of the police officers also approached, indicating he wanted to talk with her. Sue still wasn't sure how to explain the Nazis. Definitely interesting.
