Pie(d) Piper Crusts

(no, this will not take your children away, nor the mice in town...)

2 bottles of white wine (chilled)
(questions should be directed towards my wine section)
Open a bottle of wine and start slurping, if you are lucky you might start seeing mice. Just don't misplace your children during this recipe adventure. If you don't have children borrow some from the neighbors.

Bunny ears (attached)

This will give you something that is 9-inches:

1 cup sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Half a stick (1/4 cup) softened butter
1.5 tablespoons vegetable shortening (please don't use lard)
3 tablespoons cold water

Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Add the butter and shortening until coarse with a fork. Press it into a ball and roll it in a circle 1/8 inch thick and 11 wide. Reminder that if you overwork the dough it becomes chewy. Carefully place it in a floured glass pie plate. (seeing mice yet?)

Preheat oven to 425 F degrees

Trim your pie crust about 1/2 inch wider than your pie plate and use the scraps to make patches from where it fell apart. (have you fallen apart yet?)
Once you have finished making the patches stick the crust with the fork with holes. Use the fork or your fingers to crimp the edges of the crust before baking. To do this after baking would be somewhat useless and problematic. <_<

Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

These crusts can be frozen uncooked until needed.

Also you can ignore all of this and go to the store. Get the premade ones and use them. We can't tell them apart from the ones that are mentioned above.

Had to laugh at the "get the premade ones"!!!! That's what I tend to do but Gav prefers the REAL pastry made from scratch!!!!! B)

I'll have to do that for myself ... Gav is anti the old zesty Italian dressing! I however ... don't enjoy naked salads and use the zesty Italian dressing on alternate days! Balsamic one day ... zesty Italian the next!

Speaking of zesty Italians ...
