First of all, I'd like to state that I'm playing catch up somewhat on this 'real-time' dairy I had planned, due to our website hosts moving premises and thus the website was down for a good month...

I'd like to say that as of today (24 July), we have successfully tracked the drums with our good friend Rich T and his splendid 'Old Blacksmiths' Studio and started recording the other instrumentation at RossGil Studios.

Those of you who are extra aware of the band's movements will know that we recorded 2006's 'A Monument To The Death Of Idea' e.p with Rich and we're proud of what we did together.

Drums
-------

We booked 3 days for Sam to record his parts and damn it, we did it!
There was equipment issues, editing, procrastinating and frustration...but at the end of it all...we have 7 IMMENSE drum tracks.
As I was listening to the playback...I couldn't wait to start the recording process for my parts...

I'll allow Sam to continue this section as this is his domain...

<Sam will be writing his own views on the recording sessions real soon!>

Guitars
--------

I got to start my guitars about a week after we had done the drums and I was somewhat nervous, excited and worried all at the same time.
I was pretty unsure how my 'practice room' tone would work out on record and after spending a session setting up, recording 3 songs, and me getting VERY pissed off with everyone because I couldn't articulate my idea or be bothered to get my equipment to do what I wanted...we realised that the tone sucked, the session was scrapped and we started again...

All I can say is... THANK FUCK FOR THAT!!!

We dumped my shitty solidstate head and opted for a 1970's valve combo amp of a certain make...rigged that through a 'Hotplate' and the into my cab for additional amplification...
Let's just say that our collective reaction was "Woah..."

The record really started for me at this point...
Things sounded a million times better, everyone was smiling and it just felt SO much better.

So far I've got all the 'distorted' parts down for the songs and I am at least 80% happy with my performance.
I will go back with a fresh ear in a few days and listen to it all again to see if all is well...
If so, then it's onto my clean tones in a week or two.

In the meantime, Shaun will be starting his bass tone discovery (channel) and he hopes to get his stuff down i good time.

I have to say that I'm thankful that the people we are working with at the studio are very agreeable and understand our need for sonic experimentation to capture what we hear in our heads.
I praise thee...

So...as off today, we are up to date with everything my friends.
More updates as and when they come...

Darkest Regards...
Ben

Salutations fellow abominations of desolation...
(anyone who picked up the Morbid Angel pun gets a 'chufty badge' for their effort)

Another quick update from the recording sessions.

We've done a lot more guitar parts and the bass parts are pretty much done.
We are aiming to record all the guitars parts and then listen back to ensure that the record sounds fine just in a simple 'Drums, bass and two guitars' format...
then we can add all the wonderful 'Lost Orchestra' parts.

I want to repeat it how much much of a pleasure it was working with 'The Lost Orchestra'.
A truly memorable experience...

We are very pleased with how 'mighty' it is all sounding even in this infant stage of the recording.

During our days away from the studio...
Shaun, Sam and myself have been working with all my 'wonderful toys' on the ambient, abrasive and down-right weird parts for the sections in-between the songs.

We are naming every track on the record...so intrinsically, we will have 7 'songs' and anything up to 7 'in-between' parts.

After working on basic themes to start this process of linking the songs to one another, we have discovered a veritable feast of audio delight and expanding on these themes will ultimately lead to a more cohesive record...well...as cohesive as an Enochian Theory record ever could be!

I'm considering sticking a little snippet of something on our Myspace...but we'll discuss that as a band.

More updates as they come...

Ben

I've done some vocals and considering I haven't sung properly for over 6 months...I think the result were pretty good...lots of room to improve...but hey...

I am my own harshest critic and was really winding myself up before I hit the studio because I was so concerned that due to my lack of singing practice, I would totally suck a donkey's bellend when I got in front of that microphone...

Alas, It went ok and I managed to get the main vocal part down for 4 out of 7 songs.

There is so much more to go...hehehehe

More updates as they come.

Bruisers, Losers, Boozers and Movers.

I dislike Girls Aloud today.

The recording is 90% there and we're just waiting to finish off some final edits and bits that somehow we forgot to record the first time...

I emote wonderfully...

We're frustrated somewhat at the fact this record won't be put to bed and collectively, we are banging our heads against a wall...but we shall defeat this 'wall'...with SUCCESS!

More oddity to come...

It's almost done...Just bear with us.
We want to finish this record as much as all 7 of you want to hear it!

The songs are mixed...and are being mastered this Friday (19th Dec).

We can afford a big sigh of relief because they sound great...in my humble opinion.

Can't wait for everyone to hear it because it sounds epic and above all...HONEST!

Stay disco...
