I have friends ask me all the time what gear to get to start playing. So, I'm opening this thread for discussion since there are so many options and several possible answers that may spring up additional questions.

My personal pick:
Tippmann 98 or A5

They may be a bit heavy, but they're durable, upgradeable, and with a couple small upgrades, can compete pretty fairly with many high end guns in terms of speed

Has anyone tired out the crossover yet? I'm looking to upgrade to a good shooting gun, something I won't be disappointed in.

1) How long have you been playing?

2) What is most of your time spent on? (woods? speed? parking lot?)

3) How do you play? (are you aggressive? do you sit back?)

4) How long do you think you will be in the game?

5)What is your budget?

The Crossovers are great guns and we have them super cheap up at the shop right now. They're pretty durable, fast, and I love how they go from electronic to mechanical. Super nice

I suggest the Mini - I honestly do not know that much about the Crossovers. The players that have them seem to like them.

The Minis have been around for quite a while, and are proven... parts are cheaper now as well. easier to work on than an Ion (minus the Bolt-Out-Back). Very compact, quiet, and accurate marker - reliable too.

Just my 2 cents. Shoot what makes you happy... just make sure you are buying it for the right reasons.
Remember: The marker does not make the player.

Hey- that Ion (first generation) was in play longer than a lot of PLAYERS. When I pulled that trigger- I knew where that ball was going. That's why my BU is still an Ion.
Don't dis de Ion!!!
